In early 2023, I noticed a very positive review of James' contracting services on NextDoor. After meeting with a number of contractors for my kitchen remodel, I felt most comfortable with Tycon Builders, and signed a contract. James is extremely reliable and knowledgeable. He noticed details that I would sometimes miss, and offered corrective action. He remained flexible throughout the project, even as those pesky 'unforeseen' issues were uncovered (50-yr old condo building) and had to be addressed. James provided all documents which my HOA required for the project's approval. His subcontractors were well-selected and -supervised. I plan to use Tycon Builders for a small fireplace replacement project in 2024, and a bathroom remodel next year.

We have used Tycon Builders for two home projects. We had extensive dry rot in the front part of our home, facing the elements and coast. On inspection, James noted that there had been a prior attempt to correct the dry rot - and that the cause of the rot was never eliminated. He was extremely thorough and worked to identify and eliminate the cause of the dry rot, and then to remove and fix the area. It was far more extensive than what we had expected. With that said - it was necessary - and we're confident that the issues are now resolved. We used Tycon Builders again to fix retaining walls in our back yard area. James evaluated the the existing walls, and was able to stabilize what was there and then reinforce and stabilize the wall. We highly recommend Tycon Builders. James is thorough, honest, dependable and on time, and he cleans up after himself. If you have well thought out ideas with solid plans, he is an excellent contractor to consider.

James Reid of Tycon Builders is very skilled and up-to-date on all the latest techniques and products. He works by himself or with a small crew, and does meticulous work on a wide range of projects. Moreover, his prices are reasonable considering the high quality of the work.

Tycon installed a new water sewage line from our house to the main line in the back yard. They also installed a water drainage system around the foundation of the house to eliminate water seepage into our basement. In the process they were required to replace significant dry rot damage to the framing of the house. I have also used Tycon on a completely separate project that involved a complete office remodel on Fillmore Street. I have found them to be competent, reliable, honest and fairly priced. I would definitely use them again.

I cannot praise James enough for his attentiveness to details, openness to new ideas/materials/technology, and the care he puts in for every projects.
