SURPLUS GRANITE

We chose Surplus Construction for a full kitchen remodel because compared to others, Edgar quoted us a reasonable price but moreover, he was very communicative when planning out the remodel. Sadly, that is where the good communication ENDED. They took the initial measurements incorrectly and therefore set the cabinets wrong. They only fixed the lay out after we brought it up. Edgar told us that we were out of stock of 1 white cabinet but it turned out that it was 4 and we only found that out when they showed up at our home. When we asked about the additional cabinets in the wrong color, we were told they would repaint them to match the rest and reassured that we would not be able to tell the difference. It was odd that none of this was communicated prior. Unfortunately, the repainted cabinets were done poorly because they painted them AFTER they installed them versus having them sprayed professionally... Despite our frustration, we let this go since the doors were professionally painted offsite and covered the bad interior/exterior paint job. To our disappointment, the handles were then installed crooked. In some instances and it was very visible since we had black hardware on white cabinets. We asked for these to be fixed and luckily, they got most of them close to proper alignment. (I want to clarify that I am not looking for perfection here, just not something that can that glaringly obvious. Things are still not 100% square and that's ok.) I really wish that is where the bumps in this process ended, but then came the backsplash... It was installed with VERY LITTLE CARE. The tile installers did not use spacers, therefore the sheets of tile did not line up with one another so the pattern was off. We actually had to ask for them to replace tiles on the wall that THEY CRACKED cutting and still placed thinking we wouldn't notice. For the life of me I don't understand why they would knowingly place cracked tiles on the wall, but what was more frustrating was the attitude we received asking them to do it properly. Edgar blamed the tile itself for this saying it was "cheap." At this point I am frustrated but trying to stay positive knowing that we are nearing the end of this kitchen remodel, but then they started using the incorrect grout color on the backsplash and tried to tell me I was wrong when I brought it up to them. They unhappily fixed it but made me really uncomfortable about it. At the end of the day, my anger isn't with these sub contractors that came out to work on different stages of our kitchen... it's with the person, Edgar, who was supposed to be overseeing this project. He completely stepped away and didn't hold anyone accountable once we were locked in as customers. I would NEVER RECOMMEND using this company or working with Edgar to anyone if you are expecting good communication, decent work and timely contractors.

I recently had my bathroom gutted and remodeled by Surplus Granite/Surplus Construction. The job was overseen by Christian who was very helpful. He met me to make the initial choices in tile, etc., and arranged and oversaw all the subcontractors. He arranged the timing so someone was working almost every day. He further checked their work out and he kept me apprised at all times as to who would be arriving and when. It was an overall good experience and the bathroom is beautiful. I used them for my kitchen two years ago, and if I had another project, I would gladly use them again. Thanks to Eddie and Christian.

Excellent job. It was a pleasure coming home and seeing work done every day, including Saturdays and some Sundays! The job was completed earlier than anticipated. We highly recommend surplus Granite...Budget cannot be graded as we did no price comparison. We felt so comfortable with Ron and Eddie and the whole crew that we are doing the bathrooms next. It would be unrealistic to think that a project the size of mine would go perfectly and there were a few surprises and bumps in the road. To any prospective client of surplus granite I would like to express my extreme satisfaction with Their professionalism before, during and after the installation of our granite countertop. I researched granite countertop installation all over Orange County and LA and were disappointed with the clarity of doing business with other vendors. We might observe a specific cost per sq/ft but when the total job was quoted the dollars per sq/ft totaled more than twice that amount. It was not so with Surplus Granite . They itemized their quote and told me that if I wanted to perform any of the tasks such as dismantling the old counter top or providing the sink he would deduct that amount from the contract. Their honesty and openness in this regard made me very comfortable doing business with them. Eddie was meticulous in getting our approval and signoff before moving on to the next step of the contract. They makes sure that there are no misunderstandings before making irreversible steps. When it came time to take measurements on site they treated our home with a great deal of care and cleaned up very well afterward. The same was true when they arrived and removed the old counter top and installed the new one. When the job was complete our cost was exactly what was quoted. Great Job Guys! Keep The Hard work!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! – My experience with Surplus was very pleasent. Eddie was very accommodating and answered all our questions. Needless to say, he gave us a quote WAY LESS than the initial ballpark figure that we got from another supplier. He also provided us with samples of the slabs that we chose. My only observation was the Fact they dont do Plumbing but I guess its understandable the liability involve with that. The people who came in to install (Edgar and Luis) were very polite, efficient and professional. They arrived earlier than expected and finished the job within the six hour mark. The result was very clean and seamless; I couldn't be more pleased. I would definitely recommend this company for kitchen projects.

My Counter Tops could not be better! – i did not have much money to invest and i did not know what company could help me out. So, i sat down and talked with my family to know what the thought about it and they suggested to search for a Stone company with good reviews on this site and see which one could give us nice prices and that one was the Surplus Granite! I loved how their services were offered and applied...i was not affected at all because those prices are incredible!

I LOVE my new countertops! Surplus granite was wonderful to work with - professional, quick, careful, and thorough. They tore out my old tile countertops without causing any damage to the wall or the paint! Everyone was friendly. It was a great experience. And I get to remember what a good choice I made by choosing surplus granite every time I walk into my kitchen. Thank you very much Eddie!

I shopped around forever as I can't help it that I'm picky. Too make matters worse after going to my buddies house I wanted the same cool looking multi-colored green granite that he had. After finding out the price however I just about had a heart attack. I was just about to give up when a buddy of mine told me about Surplus granite. I'm very cautious by nature and did my DD. Finally I called and a guy by the name of Eddie showed up to my pad. I could tell by how he talked and articulated himself that this guy really knew what he was doing. I can smell bullshit and liars a mile away. To put it simply he blew all the others out of the water. Eddie and his crew were very respectful and courteous not to mention they did the work fast which made the experience quite pleasant. I would recommend Surplus granite to anyone looking for a great deal and excellent service. I'm a stickler for attention to detail but I was so impressed by the service and workmanship that I have them doing my floors and bathroom next. I didn't have alot of money to spend on the renovations but with Surplus Granite I was able to do it for way less then home depot/ lowes and the other contractors I called. Don't pay the bloated prices 95% of contractors/retail stores charge, but don't take my word for it. Have Eddie come by and give you a quote. You will be happy you did.

I'm so excited with my gorgeous new granite countertops. Everything turned out better than I imagined. The staff at Surplus Granite really took the time to listen to my ideas and provided expert advice and professionalism to put it all together for a beautiful creation. The job was done on time and within my budget. It was a cost effective way to give my kitchen a whole new look!

They did a wonderful job. They explained everything that would need to be done and told me things I never would have thought of. They were available whenever appointments were needed and they were timely in their responses and work. They required NO money up front. I didn't pay anything until I was satisfied with the job. I noticed a couple of things I didn't like after the install and they came out immediately to correct to my satisfaction. I would definitely use them again and recommend to anyone.

What a great experience ... A to Z. Our bathroom remodel went without a hitch, and we are both extremely happy with the result. Eddie came through in flying colors. He took the time to fully understand our wish list, then discussed design options with us, helped select the best granite slab, and coordinated the entire installation. The entire process was fully explained to us before the job was started, and everything was delivered as promesed. Eddie proactively communicated with us throughout the project. Our questions were answered quickly by phone and email. All of the Installers did a marvelous job. They were on time, came prepared, and kept our house clean throughout the entire installation. They were also careful not to damage any of our furniture and mirrors. Only a few minor paint touch-ups were required - and they were explained to us upfront. Overall, two thumbs up - I would recommend Eddie and Surplus to anyone!
