When we moved to Newport Beach, a neighbor told us that we could give Steve the keys to our house, come back later, and everything would be perfect. They were right. We stayed involved, but he worked with us on every detail, had infinite patience, and exceptionally high standards for the work. He found excellent subs and all their work was outstanding. They were also pleasant and interesting people. Steve became like a member of our family, and we were almost sorry to have the job over and miss seeing him.
He did not bid on the job. It was done on a cost plus basis, but we did have the opportunity to make less expensive choices as we went along. This has discouraged some people from hiring him, I believe.
It didn't rain for the first two years we were in the house, so a leak from a stone covered deck into the garage did not show up at first. When it did, Steve came back with the stone masons, who eventually had to tear the deck out and redo it, but we were charged nothing for it. He was always available for any concern we had.
