Steve worked with me from conception to completion and exemplified all the best qualities you'd ever want. Not only is he a fabulous architect, he's a creative problem solver, creative mastermind, positive thinker and know how to get things done. I had no experience in building a house from scratch, and Steve guided the entire process - letting me know well in advance what to expect and in the end the results speak for themselves. My house was finished along the lines of the budget we set and aside from delays that had nothing to do with Steve, got done on time. And beyond the exceptional quality of his craft, he is a delight to be with and makes what otherwise might seem like a difficult or frightening task completely enjoyable. Can't recommend him highly enough.

I bought a house that Steve built five years prior. Since then, I've worked with him to make modifications to suit my needs. Steve builds creative contemporary homes at a modest price point. His designs are expertly oriented to the site and environmental factors. They blend the indoors with the outdoors. They have interesting features but are never over-designed. Every moment I live in this house, I'm grateful for his vision and his eye to detail. Highly recommended!

We hired Stephen to design a small "cabin in the woods" for us and were immediately impressed with how carefully he listened to who we were and what we thought we wanted. The special part of working with Stephen was the generosity of his ideas, and I recall him saying early on, "If you don't like these ideas, I've got plenty more." We found that he was excellent at taking our needs and thinking to brand new places, to things we never would have imagined. Some of them we liked, some we didn't, and I admired how easily he moved away from an idea we didn't like and then tried to figure out what we might like better. The resulting house has been a joy for us, and again and again as we move around the small house we remark, "Wow, Stephen really understood how to make that work." Things that he did that I didn't understand at the time, particularly with regard to window placement and size, have ended up being exactly the right thing. We're well pleased.

Steve designed a house for us. He gave us great design options. He is easy to work with and reliable. He cares deeply about getting it right and he is also a great guy!

Steve designed our lakefront home. He was great to work with and we are thrilled with the results. He started with a questionnaire for my wife and myself, each to fill out separately. This was a great process that got all of our creative juices flowing, none more so than Steve. He came back with several designs and there was one we all gravitated to and it became the foundation for our home. Steve did many things brilliantly, one of which was to take advantage of the beautiful setting and to design the house so that there are magnificent views from every location in the house. He listened to what we wanted, but added his creative touch and years of experience, giving us something better than we could have ever imagined. Beyond that, he continues to work with us as we think about furniture or expansions or anything else that has to do with our home.

Steve's design ideas are wonderful and can be implemented without breaking the bank. His uses of space, materials and sense of sustainability are always present. I've been in a couple of his completed works and can say that the comfort level is right on. My wife and I were attracted to his work before we ever met him. He is easy to work with and thinks out of the box - confirming that good design is important!

As a fellow architect, I've worked with Steve and have seen him in action at his office, in the field, and with clients. He is a very talented designer, and pays attention to the details. Just as importantly he is committed to the project and his client from the first sketch to the completion of the house. He listens to his clients. He loves to collaborate with them and exceed their expectations.
