G. Steuart Gray AIA

In 1976 Steuart Gray redesigned the first floor, mainly kitchen and dining room, of our 1927 brick house. He did a superb job. We have been happy with the result ever since. Mindful of our limited budget, he demonstrated a good eye and an impressive understanding of what was possible. Since Steuart is a neighbor and I have had a long-standing interest in architecture — one of my books received an AIA award — I have followed his career with interest and when a friend ran into trouble a few years ago with an ambitious house project on a wonderful site, I recommended to him that he hire Steuart. The result was what must be one of the most magical houses in the state.
