About a decade ago my wife and I decided to move to Manchester Mass. and located an interesting sea view location, with a difficult site and more difficult house in place on it. Having had success in having two houses built for us before, and with the introduction of a pleased client we were introduced to Mr. Holt to explore any possibilities. The result was several possibilities, all interesting, and one captivating. The result is a house that takes the advantage of the site and the patterns of life of its occupants. Working in collaboration with Steve and the construction team was an extraordinary experience which resulted in our home being transformed far beyond anything we could have imagined. The infrastructure of our little seaside cottage was significantly improved upon to better withstand the elements; and the interior was redesigned to optimize ocean views. Although virtually everything is new, the home retains its original character from an architectural, exterior and interior design standpoint with diamond-patterned windows, period moulding details, built-ins, and attention to detail throughout while maximizing modern efficiencies and new technology. After seeing many of Steve's new construction and preservation projects in various design magazines and initially meeting with him, we realized that it would be a very productive relationship. Steve has a wealth of experience with an affinity for preservation; and his relationships with the construction firm of Silva Brothers and their subcontractors brought the best team possible to our project. We felt extremely fortunate to have such a close, collaborative, and harmonious working relationship with Steve and his team.
