Scott is beyond talented when it comes to creating built-ins. We hired him in 2014 to create several built-ins in our small 1,100 sq condo. Several = custom media cabinet, large built in desk, storage cabinets with shelves, a bookcase and a master bedroom closet / media center! Words can not describe how he was able to interpret our needs and vision. He listens, provides the right balance of advice and executes to perfection. But here is the best thing about him, he takes such pride in his final product - if you are not happy, he will work with you to make the changes to get you to be happy. He is worth every penny. Seriously, the best in the city if not the country. We enjoy our built-ins daily and the clutter free environment they have created, oh and of course the aesthetics of a perfect piece in every built -in just makes you smile.

Scott knows small spaces. I have an awkward corner in a spare bedroom that serves as my home office, but I was never comfortable with the setup. Within minutes of evaluating the space and how I wanted it to function, he knew exactly what to do. He designed and built a small, but extremely efficient, comfortable and beautiful corner desk that I use everyday. I couldn't be happier with it.

Scott Sallinger is an absolute pleasure to work with! We live in a Victorian row house in San Francisco that had really tiny closets and we wanted to create an elegant walk-in closet that would maximize our storage capacity within a tall/narrow space while still staying true to our home's beautiful woodwork and architecture. Scott immediately understood our vision and provided detailed mock-ups of his cabinetry design with exact measurements so we could see what the new footprint would be, how the cabinets would look going all the way to our 11-foot ceilings, the precise placement of our clothing rods to suit our personal wardrobe, and what type of wood trim he could incorporate so that the closet matched the adjoining room seamlessly and felt as though it could have been original. After seeing the drawings and his portfolio, we were confident he was the perfect man for our project. Throughout the design and installation process, Scott was always easy to communicate with via email and phone. He was quick to reply and kept us updated on the status of the cabinetry. He provided us with an accurate estimate and timeline. Onsite, he and is team were always punctual, professional, friendly and careful to protect our floors. They were also great with their clean-up after installation and painting. Scott made sure the cabinetry fit perfectly into the space (which is no easy task in an older home where nothing is at right angles anymore) and also graciously assisted us with installing matching baseboards and picture rail so that no detail was overlooked. My husband and I are both absolutely thrilled with the finished product! The closet turned out beautifully and we couldn't be happier. We have received so many compliments on the quality of the cabinetry, how well they integrate with the style of our home, and how nicely they were painted, too. Scott really goes above and beyond when it comes to customer service as well. It took me a few months to find just the right hardware and Scott came back out to install it, even though we'd already paid him for the job. There were some minor hairline cracks in the seams of the paint due to the house's seasonal shifting/swelling and he quickly addressed those at the same time so that they wouldn't come back. We were so pleased! It is so hard to find that kind of care and craftsmanship today. We will definitely be using SJ Salinger Designs for several future projects and look forward to working with him again. My husband and I have both recommended him to personal friends as well. Scott is a great designer, a highly skilled carpenter, has a positive can-do attitude and his work is absolutely worth the price. Scott's work is exceptional. Our built-ins (bookcases and banquette) turned out even more beautiful than expected. They truly make our house a home. The craftsmanship is amazing and the design process was great.

Scott is an absolute artist. He listened to my needs and developed a built-in closet solution for my bedroom that surpassed my expectations. We used Scott Sallinger for a job that required both precise craftsmanship and artistry. He built out one of a kind consoles for a music studio. We had some old, carved artifacts that we wanted integrated with new, up-to-date and functional studio pieces.. the challenge was whether or not he could blend the old with the new without it looking like there were brand new pieces attached to antique ones. this requires a precise design, some laborious color matching, and a general understanding of old-time artistry and craftmanship.. we are very pleased with the outcome and we would definitely use someone with the depth of skillsets that Scott has. Two Thumbs up!!

Scott has created built-ins for a number of our San Francisco clients -- he is responsive and detail oriented. The built-ins he has created range from bookshelves, media centers, closets, and window seats. Each of his projects blend well with the architecture of the home and add much needed function.
