Easily the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life- Please choose a different home builder! To start, the expected move in date was pushed back 3 months from the original move in date. The build was eventually scheduled to close on Dec 31st, right before the end of the year. The build was extremely rushed to meet this year end quota, and the build quality directly reflects that. Silverthorne represent a ’Grab the money and run’ business model— once they have your money, good luck getting any warranty issues done! We moved into a house with no grass, no driveway, or concrete path into the house. 5 months later, we still don’t have any of those! When asked about these issues- nobody answers. There are countless cosmetics and structural issues spanning from paint overspray, chipped baseboard and trim, doors that don’t close properly, crooked window framing, 10+ spots in the floor that creek due to floor joists not being properly secure, vinyl flooring planks warping and getting damaged due to poor subflooring, roof shingles falling off the house, dents in the garage entrance doors, stair railing was not properly sanded or polyurethaned, kitchen drawers not closing properly, kitchen sink was installed crooked, they installed the wrong size cabinet doors, they installed all the wrong color cabinet hardware in the house, all the sinks and bathtubs weren’t even caulked, there is mortar and dirt all over the siding of the house, the balcony was wobbly, laundry pocket door was crooked, and many more! The issues are literally endless. Highland woods is a great area to live in, just don’t choose Silverthorne to be your home builder. The quality of work is embarrassing and they are a nightmare to deal with from the bottom end warranty employees all the way to upper management.

We have been in our Silverthorne built home in Elgin Il for about 4-1/2 months. I have so many issues that I don't know where to begin. Absolutely no follow up with any of the many problems with the house that have existed prior to closing and the 30-day walkthrough. Have placed so many items to be repaired or replaced in the portal, with no communication back from them. Very disappointed and disillusioned with this Company. I would never recommend this builder. We have been totally ignored after closing.

I am so disappointed, we did our homework, we looked at a number of builders. We talked to Jim and Mark and they were so very helpful and Mark sold us our home. We make our selections on the portal, this could be a great tool but you need to do your homework and look at many of there home to find what extras there are as not everything is laid out there for you. Here I where the present and positive process ended. Our foundation was formed and it just didn't seem right and we questioned it with no answers, foundation pored more questions as the foundation stuck well out of the ground. As they start to back fill and now or flat lot is now a sled hill, but no answers. The house starts to get framed and then the GC is fired. We are informed nothing will change communication will be better. Not so much. During the electrical walk through we knew just what we wanted, they were quick to add upgrades but nothing as we eliminated items.. We continue to ask questions in the portal and no answers in the portal. Sometimes we would hear from the GC but you couldn't get anything in writing. 3 weeks before closing we hear that the patio that was drawn and part of the build.... the patio is built over the easement and we must cut part of it off. What???? No other options or ideas. Now we have a sled hill with no patio. A project that we wanted to avoid by building new. The communication after you sign on the line is nearly impossible and ask to talk to a supervisor or owner, not happening. It is very hard to be excited for a new home when it has been such a nightmare. Buyer beware, do your homework and watch Silverthorne closely if the build your home!!!

We are currently getting a house built by Silverthorne and what a mistake this has been, a costly one ! The level of deception and unprofessionalism truly makes us regret going with this company and not using another local home builder. Please make sure you go over your contract and ensure every little stipulation is accounted for, the sad part being they will not guide you. Consult an attorney and previous customers if you can. DO NOT TRUST Silverthorne that they will do the right thing. I cannot imagine how many customers unknowingly have subpar homes simply because they do not know or fully trusted this company. Take a look at their homes being built currently and look at the quality of the framing, I truly feel bad for those customers. They will have very leaky homes. Do your due diligence and educate your self on building processes and materials as you’ll need it. Understand your plan for your new home plan inside and out to protect yourself. The amount of mistakes I have caught on their behalf goes to show their level of incompetence. Excuses after excuses are brought up instead of owning them. We have not even broken ground yet and our level of confidence and trust with Silverthorne is none.

We have been in our custom ranch for almost 1 year. We love the look and layout!! We didn't want to be in a "cookie cutter" neighborhood and that is exactly what Silverthorne delivers! Thank you Jim and team for your attention to detail! The upgraded granite countertops and white cabinetry are awesome along with the fireplace. We love our 3-car garage and 9 foot basement ceilings! We spend a lot of time under our covered deck- that was my husband's favorite part of the house!! The home warranty is amazing as well. Kelly and Josh have been great to work with. They have both gone above and beyond with the minor details that needed fixed. They are prompt and so accomodating with our busy schedules!! I am excited to see more Silverthorne houses going up in the area! Keep up the good work!

Selecting Silverthorne Home Builders was the best decision my husband and I made. We are very thankful and grateful for Silverthorne who took time to help our dream home unfold. The customer service was exceptional and we also formed new friendships throughout our process. You tend to hear that new construction can be stressful but our process was stress free and wonderful experience overall. Silverthorne truly built our dream home and over exceeded our expectations to the fullest.
