I hired Susan Hershman at the beginning of a one bedroom condo renovation to assist with a number of parts to my project, including: - Tile and materials approval for kitchen and bathroom - Review, guidance and approval of kitchen and bathroom fixtures - Lighting and overhead fan selection - Window treatments - Color Selection - Artwork placement As time passed I expanded the scope of our work together to include furniture selection. High Points - Introduced an electric fireplace and bump out accent wall to add interest to a boring flat living room - fabulous result - Encouraged me to replace laminate flooring with hardwood - Selected beautiful lighting: pendants over the kitchen counter and dining room, artistic entry light fixture, stunning sofa table lights, modern classic bedroom end table lights and recessed wall washers to accent art. - Encouraged me to replace existing furniture with fresh modern pieces - I love the result! - Recommended great door and kitchen fixtures. I appreciate the quality each time I touch them. - Encouraged me to update originally selected kitchen cabinet material to bright white and grey/white marble for a fresh modern look. It set the tone for the entire renovation. - Guided placement of existing artwork installation for most impact Susan is very skilled, experienced, passionate about design and meticulous about details. She worked closely with me to understand my needs and taste and helped guide my decisions aligned with an elevated design concept. I so appreciated her efforts on behalf of me. I absolutely love my new space.

We have a 50s ranch style house. Susan was able to immediately zero in and provide useful advice on how to update the exterior of our house with color, lighting, house numbers, etc. Susan was very responsive, prompt and well worth her fee. Hire Susan if you need a house update!

I'll be candid - I was afraid to work with a high-end design professional. I figured that I would get a great result but that it would be impossible to keep the budget reasonable. I was fixing up my house for sale, so I really did have to keep budget in mind throughout the project. My fears melted away when I started working with Susan, she was amazing! She has a fantastic design sense and the results were just beautiful. But just as important to me she was very respectful of my budget. She was also very willing to incorporate my ideas, but wasn't shy about telling me where my ideas wouldn't work. She is just fun to talk with, and to kick ideas with. I couldn't be happier with the result. I would give 6 stars if I could.

We have consulted with Susan Hershmann of STUDIO+ONE: Design on paint color selection several times over the years, including for both interior spaces and for the exterior of our house. She is amazing! She gets what we are looking for and can gently guide us toward what works and away from what will not. We have been thrilled with the results every time. On a personal note, she is also a lovely person and wonderful to work with. Her own home is gorgeous, so I always feel confident with her advice because I know I love her aesthetic. I can't recommend her highly enough!

I hired Susan to select exterior paint colors for my Edwardian building in the Duboce Triangle neighborhood in San Francisco. I am particular and she hung in there with me until it was just right. Susan knows design and is an excellent interior architect. She's helping me navigate through a major remodel, and I'm thankful she's a stickler for good design details, like center lines being where they should be, focal points, window selections etc.. She's very creative at utilizing space, and passionate about finding storage opportunities. She has excellent taste all around, and great sense of style. I'm looking forward to working with Susan on paint colors, her passion and my weakness! Oh, and she's also a kick in the pants :)

When I moved into my new house, I was a complete loss as to what to do with my living room and dining area. I had a consultation with Susan and was immediately impressed with her design sensibilities, creativity, warmth and supportive manner. Susan was respectful and presented ideas in a clear and thorough way. She respected my snail's pace and budget. She made amazing suggestions and the colors are especially wonderful. My living room/dining area is an inviting, beautiful and comfortable space thanks to Susan.

First let me say it was fun to work with Susan. She has enormous energy and great ideas. We had a small living room that my husband hated to walk into.....now it is one of his favorite rooms in the house. She used some of the furniture that we already owned but moved it around to make it conversation and relationship friendly. She found one of kind pieces from Artisan furniture makers including some from our favorite place, Maine. She added amazing color to the room convinced me that drapes were not "old fashioned" and made a small living room zing. She showed me where it is important to spend extra and where with good design you don't have to spend too much. We were thrilled. We will continue to use her as we upgrade and improve our home. She added thoughtfulness, beauty and color to our home.

Susan is exuberant, thoughtful, clever, and respectful of clients' wishes, budget, and the architecture involved, The client may be presented with one solution or a few options - either way, each is viable and good; no throwaway idea just to get you to like "her" choice. Describing and/or demonstrating why each choice is offered (how it meets needs, room, space, budget) is a strength as well. Her color choice for our exterior doors and wooden gates was unexpected and outstanding.

Susan Hershman transformed a small, poorly designed bathroom, taking it down to the studs, and created a lovely, airy room that looks fresh and modern 10 years later. The contractor was impressed with Susan’s precision and skill, and so were we. We looked a long time for someone with the creative talent to create a thing of beauty in a problem space, and the wait was worth it. We use Susan for all of our design and color projects, including the house exterior color choice.
