My husband and I contracted with Mr. Hummer on 6/2/18, and provided him with a deposit of $11,500 to get work started on our Master Bathroom. We met him on 6/16/18 to pick out floor and wall tile, but until 9/21/18, we didn't hear from him, but weren't bothered by that because we were tied up dealing with a sick relative. However, when I pressed Mr. Hummer about when he would get started with our project, he kept stalling and providing excuse after excuse, until my husband and I requested to cancel the contract on 10/23/18, at which point he had performed no work or purchased none of the materials for our project. Mr. Hummer stated that he would return our deposit of $11,500 on 11/6/18, but as of 11/23/18, we have not received our deposit and continued to encountered difficulties in obtaining our deposit from Mr. Hummer as we have requested. My husband and I told Mr. Hummer that we believe that he took our money under false pretenses and never intended to completed our bathroom renovations. Instead, we told him that he took our money and used it as a personal loan to serve his own purposes. Mr. Hummer has acted in a very unethical and unprofessional manner, and I would never recommend him to anyone else. I'm just hoping that we can get our money back so that we can hire a reputable contractor to complete our bathroom renovations.
