Real Wood Floors was started by owner Jason Jacobs in 1998. What started as a solo operation has turned into a successful business with several craftsman who create the finest wood floors in Southwest Michigan.
In 1998, Jason attended the technical school put on by the National Wood Flooring Association. Some of his employees have attended similar schools and training seminars. We use national standards for all of our installation, sanding and finishing techniques.
At Real Wood Floors, we strive to use the best materials available while staying competitive with our pricing. We have great relationships with our suppliers which helps us find the best products at the best value for your project. Most of our materials are domestically grown in the United States. We also use exotic wood species from around the world.
When it comes to the finishing of your floors, durability and ease of maintenance is essential. We use Bona Traffic on almost all of our projects due to it’s ability to withstand years of use and still look great. It also has low VOC’s which is great for you as our customer and for our employees.
When it comes to customizing your floor, we can design anything from borders to inlays to pattern or parquet floors. We work with you, the customer, to transpose your ideas into a finished product that you will love.
Real Wood Floors has a great working relationship with area builders such as Glas Associates, W. Pennings and Sons, VanDam and Krusinga and several more.

Very knowledgeable. Did several sample colors for us. Offered suggestions. Professional, courteous. The floor looks great. They even corrected an old plank that had a poorly repaired flaw from the original installation (by a different company). Would definitely recommend.

Jason, Matt and Erika all provided exceptional service. Jason called me when he was going to be a few minutes late to checkout the project. He didn't have to do that, but that's how he does business. Matt, who removed the carpet and brought out the beauty in this old oak floor is an artist. He was working on this project for parts of three days was timely and did something rare with contractors--he communicated with me on how the project was going, provided realistic time frames and followed up. After I mailed the check in I mentioned to Erika that if it didn't arrive by Friday to please let me know. I didn't hear from her on Friday so I just assumed that the check arrived. She went the extra mile an called me on Monday to let me know for sure that it did. Nice people and excellent quality work at a more than fair price.

We had quarter-sawn white oak installed and stained "espresso" in our dining and living room. We love them!!! They are stunning and the team that installed was professional, timely, and clean! Will call again for other rooms when it's time.

We had Real Wood Floors install a maple floor in our kitchen that we are remodeling. It is beautiful and we are so happy. In 2020, they refinished our existing hardwood floors and we were extremely satisfied. They show up on time, are very professional and are very knowledgeable. My phone calls are always answered promptly. I would highly recommend them!! Jason, Erica and the whole team are great! Thank you Real Wood Floors!!

Real Wood laid our red birch floors 10+ years ago and it was a beautiful floor. We just encountered water damage from refrigerator and they came to our rescue and replaced flooring, sanded back to wood and clear coated so everything matched. They worked with us to schedule while we were out of town and we came back to a brand new floor. Jason and their staff are so easy to work with. We had a question upon our return and they were at our house the next day. Their work is exquisite. I highly recommend them.

We had water damage and had to have our floors resurfaced and stained. What a great experience we had with the folks at Real wood floors. Erika, Jason and Matt were all amazing and the floors are absolutely beautiful. They are professional, timely, thorough and great to have around. They were so nice to deal with from start to finish. I would highly recommend them to all who need help with flooring. We are absolutely thrilled with the results. Thanks to the team of real wood floors. Our Kalamazoo house looks amazing. Jason and team exceeded our expectations! Their quality of work is tops and their concern for us, as a customer was genuine. Our remodel project was delayed because of the COVID shut down and we thought it might take forever to get Jason and his crew back to our house to do our floors but as soon as things opened back up Jason was on top of it.
The project was finished in a timely manner and the quality of the work more than exceeded our expectations.
They were respectful of the fact that we were living in the house while the project was on going by cleaning up at the end of every work day. The “mess” was so much less than we anticipated.
We would recommend Real Wood Floors to anyone considering having wood floors installed.

The staff kept us informed of all the project steps and time intervals. They performed the sanding and finishing with great care taken to minimize dust and cleaned up at the end of the day. We required quit a bit of replacement boards due to pet damage. I was apprehensive at first of the outcome but once it was completed we could not tell the difference between old and new. I highly recommend this company if you desire to have your existing wood floors refinished.

Wow. I can not find enough words to compliment this company. The owner listened and then recommended. The crew assigned to our project was approachable and professional. When the project was finished, I asked the owner to come over for some final questions. Before I could ask he pointed to a couple of smaller spots that need to be reworked; at no cost to us.

Loved working with Jason and his team of professionals. We pulled carpet and tile from our public spaces and replaced it with 5” red oak. We were kept abreast of every step and the job was completed on time. The floors are beautiful and the quality is unparalled. RWF’s floors are in a class ll their own!

Our new wood flooring was an amazing transformation in our home. New flooring was installed in our main living areas including family room, living room and hallway. We found Real Wood Floors after the vendor we purchased our unfinished wood floors from recommended them. Real Wood Floors did not disappoint. They were helpful and informative every step of the way. They made great suggestions and Jason coached me to appreciate and use the new floors as opposed to worry about the wear and tear of 4 kids on them. All of the staff were professional and kind to our entire family. Even when our 5 year old wanted to "help" measure and install the flooring. I would recommend Real Wood Floors to anyone who wants the best of the best!

Real wood floors just finished a job laying hardwood in my living room where there used to be carpet, then sanded and stained to match my foyer, dining, and sitting room. I have had two projects done (so far) by Real Wood Floors and the results were excellent. The main project was a renovation involving making a bedroom suite with bathroom and walk-in closet out of two rooms. This involved not only the refinishing of the oak wood floors but also piecing in some old oak flooring in certain areas. It is impossible to tell where they pieced the flooring in as they did such a good job. We subsequently had them refinish the floors in a guest room and are preparing to have them redo all of the wood flooring on the first floor. Not only was the work excellent, but they did a great job of returning calls and following through.

I recently had a newer (1980’s) and a very old (early 1920’s?) oak floor refinished, they look absolutely beautiful, like brand new! The guys were very courteous and respectful of my home and myself. The job was finished much sooner than I expected and cost less than I expected, I am extremely happy and am showing off my new floors!

I had wood flooring installed by Real Wood Floors in my dining room and living room, and then had those two rooms as well as our entire first floor refinished so everything looked like it was originally done. Jason was a true professional during the estimate and answered every question I had. We talked through different options for which way to run the floor in the two new rooms, eventually agreeing on lacing in the new flooring to the existing. Tim performed the work and did an AMAZING job. He was great. My wife and I asked him to put at least 12 different stain samples on the floor to choose the color and we never once felt like he was even getting slightly aggravated as we asked for "just one more". I think he would have put down 100 and been as patient as ever with it had we asked. I live well over an hour from Kalamazoo and went with Real Wood Floors based off my instinct during the quote. I had 3 other local flooring companies quote the job and I could tell I was making a good choice when I went with Real Wood Floors. Thank you so much to Jason and Tim, top notch all around! I almost forgot about Erica, she was so easy to get a hold of and professional with setting up the install. What a wonderful team you have Jason!

Real Wood Floors completely restored the wood floors in our kitchen and entry. We had previous flood damage and wanted to update the color and finish. The professionals from this company replaced and/or repaired all wood surfaces, sanded the entire area, stained and refinished our floors. Our floors are absolutely gorgeous! They were meticulous in all they did and we could not be more pleased! This company is reasonably priced, extremely professional and their work exceeded any and all expectations! My wife and I were totally satisfied with Jason and his company. They were asked to match the hardwood floors with cabin style design in an addition to our original 90 year old house. The result is simply amazing. Jason's employees were knowledgable, professional, and a joy to work with. I must mention Seth, who did most of the installation, was top notch. From our initial contact, which was soon after our phone inquiry, to an immediate fair estimate, to scheduling and eventual installation, all was done smoothly and efficiently. We would highly recommend Jason and his team for any wood floor needs.

This is the second time I have used Real Wood Floors. They are the most professional and communicative contractor I have ever worked with and the flooring is the best value for your money. I had my first floor installed 5 years ago and they are still in excellent condtion even with 2 teenagers, 2 dogs and a cat. I LOVE my wood floors!!

I love, love, LOVE my floors!!! Jason and his team were amazing. We refinished the original wood floors in our living room, hallway, office and two bedrooms. We were going to be out of town while the work was done and they came and prepared samples for us to choose from. We left town and one week later, we returned to the most beautiful floors! I was amazed at how little I needed to clean up (very little dust). Erica was wonderful to work with. She came and picked up keys and then delivered them back to us upon our return. I would highly recommend them to friends. Six stars, if possible!

We cannot speak highly enough of Jason, his professionalism, his great crew - and the superb quality work they completed on our pine floors from beginning to end! Jason came to our home more than once prior to the project start to patiently answer multiple questions and checked on progress along the way. The entire 4-5 crew was professional, friendly, and kept all areas neat and clean. Our project included adding and tying new wood flooring in 4 areas into our existing main area flooring, and then sanding/staining/finishing all rooms. Jason intrigued us with his recommendation of Tung Oil as the final finish - and wow! They look absolutely beautiful!! Deadlines and budget were met, and in sum, we are beyond thrilled and most highly recommend Jason and his crew to all!!

Phenomenal looking floor and stairway. Jason visited the job sight twice before starting. He recommended the right material and look for the floor and allowed me to bring samples home. He provided options that allowed me to understand the cost. The job was started when scheduled. The team took care in protecting the cabinets. The final color and look of the wood are a perfect fit for the house. Love it and would highly recommend.

We had a great experience with Real Wood Floors. Our kitchen designer, whom I hold in the highest esteem, directed us to Jason for the wood floors we planned to install throughout our home's main level. We began by consulting Jason about the various species of hardwood, the types of hardwood flooring, and the methods of installation. He delivered a wealth of information and informed opinion, then--because we decided to lay prefinished wood--referred us to an industry-preferred source that offered the most choices. As it happened, the flooring we chose was one he also deals, and he was able to offer a considerably better price than his competitor. His crew (friendly and respectful) laid the floors over a mere couple of days, leaving behind a beautiful expanse of gleaming oak. When Jason had said early on that he wanted us to love our floors, I'd thought, "Well, I don't need to love them, I just need to be happy with them." Now that they're in, however, we do love them! We recommend Real Wood Floors without reservation and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Jason did a phenomenal job. This is our third wood floor and his work is hands down superior to our previous two wood floors. The instillation is perfect and the on site finish turned out absolutely beautiful. Jason is easy to work with and had several good suggestions when we were picking out our wood, stain, and finish. I wouldn't think twice about using him again.

My wife and I like many others have taken on the project of renovating an old farm house. We entrusted Real Wood Floors to bring the original wood floors throughout the downstairs back to life, and they absolutely nailed it! Jason and his team were unquestionably awesome to work with in all aspects, from coming to see what we were working with and showing/quoting us various options, Erika in the office working with us coordinating both their and our timelines as we were hustling best we could to get things finished up and get them in, and the superb work done once we got them in only enhanced by the premium Bona products they use! Arrivals through the week were always very prompt and on time in the morning which was great! Jason and Tim were great answering a multitude of questions and showing us various stains and even going as far to mix stain colors to arrive at the best match to the original trim throughout the house!!! Jason had various solutions to fix a couple of small spots on the floors that through us a curve ball from the wood being left raw under old flooring before putting down a Satin water poly finish from Bona that has left us thrilled beyond belief!!! Real Wood Floors positively killed it for us and confident they will do the same for you!

Very pleased with the work! Jason came by in person to do the evaluation and estimate, and schedule the work. He made a few small recommendations; no attempt to up-sell, but very competent delivery. Very professional job. Exactly what I was looking for - in this case, get the job done; nothing fancy. I would definitely highly hire RWF for everyday work, and I would definitely consider them for fancier stuff! Excellent resource to have on my contacts list!

Jason from Real Wood floors worked closely with us to achieve the perfect color for our wood floors. He took our well worn and dated wood floors and transformed them into a fresh and updated surface. He custom mixed 2 colors to create a tone that complimented our cabinets and color scheme. He gave us great direction on choosing the right top coat sheen to complete the look. He is easy to work with and listens to his clients to provide the wood floors of your dreams. His staff is well trained, hard working and courteous. I would highly recommend Real Wood Floors.

We recently had the master bedroom in our home refinished by Real Wood Floors. What an incredible experience. From the original meeting with the owner and each team member who worked on our project, all did just a great job, exceeding our expectations. The staff even helped us select the color of the stain for the room.. Even when we had questions, the office staff serviced us politely, promptly, and efficiently. I could not be happier. Mine was a small (spare room) project, but I was treated as if I was refinishing the floors in a mansion. Jason and RWF came highly recommended, but even exceeded that. They are friendly, knowledgeable, patient with my many questions, and NEAT. A carpenter friend told me "This floor looks exactly the way oak floors should look, but rarely do."
I've already recommended RWF, and would definitely use them again.

Real Wood Floors is an amazing company. The owner, Jason, is so energetic, knowledgable and passionate about what he does. Even though RWF was highly recommended to me by several people/contractors, I still contacted several other companies for suggestions/estimates. Once Jason came to our home to assess our floors, though, I knew it was RWF that would get the job. They were very prompt, friendly and efficient and did an amazing job refinishing all of our wood floors. At one point, they didn't like how one room looked (it looked just fine to us) and they re-stripped the floor and stained it again. Everyone who comes over to our house comments on how beautiful our floors are. I highly recommend Real Wood Floors.

Thank you to Real Wood Floors for a fantastic job refinishing our wood floors. Jason came over promptly when I called for an estimate and I think the quote was more than fair.
Tim came early and stayed late for 3 days to sand, stain and seal our very uneven floors. He also helped us choose the perfect color to go with our carpeting and furniture. In the end, they look like new. I absolutely love them.
Tim also went the extra mile and came back when the floors were dry to help us move furniture back into place.
A job well done. I highly recommend Real Wood Floors! Thank you so much!

Our decorator highly recommended Real Wood Floors and close friends used them in the last year incident to a new floor installation.
Our home has solid cherry flooring that were in fairly good shape but had not been redone since we built our home 23 years ago. Real Wood Floors exceeded our expectations and we could not be more pleased. Their associate consistently showed up at the scheduled time and his attention to detail was flawless! I can not recommend this company strong enough. The company staff are all very professional and the quality of work is second to none!!!

Real Wood floors provided highly professional wood floor refinishing to my renovation projects. Jason’s tradecraft and attention to detail are remarkable. His crew took our old floors and transformed them into real showpieces. Real Wood excels at ensuring their final product exceeded our expectations. His company achieves stellar results because they work hard and have the experience to tackle even the toughest jobs. In one instance he restored an 84-year-old staircase to its original glory and in another instance he repaired radiator-damaged floors blending the new floor to existing floor leaving no trace of the repair. Their cost estimates are always accurate and the work is done with a sense of pride and purpose. I trust him and recommend him with no hesitation to others that demand a high level of performance and a finished product that your are proud to have in your home.

If I could give Jason and his team at Real Wood Floors a bonus star or two I would do that. They truly deserve more than 5 stars! The work they do is impeccable and the service is outstanding. I am a perfectionist and typically do most home improvement projects myself because I feel like no one will do the quality of work and tend to the details like I will. I thought about doing our hardwood floors myself but when I mentioned this to one of my neighbors, who is possibly even pickier than I am, she told me about Jason and raved about the work he and his team did for her. I have rarely heard her rave about anyone's work so I decided to contact Jason. From our first meeting he was professional and instilled a high level of confidence. He gave us a quote that was reasonable and we hired him to do the work. We had to wait a while to get the floors installed because we chose solid walnut which was a little bit difficult to come by but that was our choice. The work was done in about a week and once completed we were astonished by the beauty and the quality of the work. Truly phenomenal! We are so pleased that we chose Real Wood Floors and highly recommend them.
