My husband and I hired R.J. Landis for remodeling projects not once, not twice, but FOUR times, to update and remodel our mid-century modern home in Upper Arlington. The first project, approximately 2008, was a major redo -- down to the studs -- of our home's living area including the kitchen/great room, living room, dining room, powder room and laundry area. Additional projects included redoing 1) our guest bath, 2) our master bath and 3) a general miscellanea of upgrades/ceiling fan installation, etc. Our experiences with Ron and his staff, subcontractors, suppliers, etc. have been exceptional every time. Ron's design-build ideas and drawings are thoughtful and creative. Our lead-carpenter Greg's, attention to detail and desire for perfection are second-to-none. Everyone communicates extremely well and everyone is ALWAYS on time and is there when they say they will be. The projects move forward on a daily basis and the clean-up at the end of each day makes living in a construction zone as pleasant as can be. Ron's estimates are accurate and he is responsive to changes, advising of the additional costs and time involved. There are never surprises. He provides time tables and is unfailingly polite and considerate, as are all the people connected with his company. In addition to our projects, we have seen many other of his finished jobs and each and every one is just as exceptional as ours. My husband and I recommend R.J. Landis without any limitations or exceptions.

We engaged R J Landis to undertake the complete remodel of our kitchen and main floor powder room; install hardwood floors throughout the main level and family room loft; and expand the passageway between living and dining rooms to facilitate entertaining. Taking into consideration our needs and desires, Ron’s design skills maximized kitchen storage, added high-end appliances, and updated the design all within the original footprint of the home. The craftsmanship of Ron’s team is exceptional with careful attention to detail. For example, all new molding and trim blends seamlessly with existing woodwork. In fact, they added trim details that were not present in the home originally and that added just the right finishing touches. In addition to their skill, these individuals were responsive to all our concerns and patiently answered any and all questions. We were referred to excellent vendors for the selection of cabinetry, fixtures, appliances, lighting, tile, hardware and even paint colors. All worked to achieve a unified vision that updated the home but maintained the original character. Project management was outstanding and kept our home functional throughout the remodel process. Inconvenience was kept to a minimum and the work areas were neat and tidy at the end of each day. We were consulted at each step of the remodel and kept informed of when major disruptions would be occurring. They adjusted their schedule to accommodate any special needs we had. By far this is the best remodeling experience we’ve had in over 40 years of home ownership. The project came in on budget and within our desired timeframe. We look forward to working with R J Landis in the future.

Ron Landis completed my kitchen and bathroom remodel. The first day I met with Ron he had an excellent idea for the window/sink area and it became the outstanding feature of the project. They removed everything in the two rooms, added insulation and all new walls, cupboards, tile, flooring, etc. The entire project was very successful and they were able to customize all the features that I wanted. His design skills are outstanding and under his leadership his workers were very professional, competent, organized, efficient and the project progressed smoothly. I've also had Ron Landis return to replace my windows and to remodel my basement work area. He also solved a drainage problem at my home. I have enjoyed the results of all his projects at my home for many years. He is the person I contact when I contemplate additional projects. The projects were in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2011.

RJL performed a basement update / remodel for us. They were communicative throughout the process, had a great foreman, and they came in on budget! We love the design that they came up with, and the finished product is fantastic!

I initially contracted RJ Landis and Company to do some remodeling work on my residence in 1998, based on their impeccable reputation and the obvious subject matter expertise displayed by Ron (Landis) during the initial interviewing sessions. As a result of the overwhelming success of this project, which included remodeling two somewhat dated bathrooms, I again contracted the company in 2008 to perform a major expansion and remodel. The most current remodel included updating a front entrance, adding a family room, remodeling a living room and kitchen, matching existing and new hardwood floors, remodeling a screen-in porch, and upgrading all associated electrical and plumbing services. Ron was also instrumental in securing a quality landscaping partner to create a new landscape design and lay a new patio, as well as provide a quality sub-contractor to repave a blacktop driveway with concrete. Given the dating of the home's design paradigm, this breadth of work would represent a formidable task for any remodeling company. In an attempt to avoid any digression, I'm going to focus my remaining commentary on the suggested topics listed on this site by speaking to the following: 1. Did your design solve your needs? Perhaps the most notable of the many skill-sets exhibited by Ron is his ability to translate the customer's concept into a functional and aesthetic design. Ron's initial suggestion, which turned out to be good advice, was to create a design that maintained the natural flow and feel of the home, in effect creating an homogenous environment that challenges the observer to differentiate between the original structure and the updates or additions. This approach strikes me in may ways as analogous with creating a tapestry, where new threads are woven together with the existing fabric to create some sense of harmony in the end result. 2. Did the organization of construction process accommodate your living patterns? Ron was very capable at orchestrating the different activities required to complete work in an organized fashion. In his doing so, we experienced minimal disruption. This can be an extremely difficult task, especially when remodeling a fundamental system, such as a kitchen. The work was scheduled in such a way that down-time was kept to a minimum. It occurred to me during the process that one could easily underestimate the importance of this issue, and consequently I'm very thankful to Ron for taking the initiative to make this transition as comfortable as anyone could reasonably expect. 3. How was the quality of the workmanship? This is a difficult answer for me, in that its easy to show, and much harder to explain. There was a great deal of meticulous work involved in our update, far too much to adequately cover here, and the Landis team consistently met or exceeded our expectations. The implementation team is, in my opinion, a group of gifted artisans that take great pride in performing their work. This is a rare scenario to find yourself in, and I can't emphasize enough the value e place on this work ethic. 4. Did employees and subcontractors respect your home? This is probably the easiest question to answer. By the time the project was completed, the Landis team felt like extended "family". I don't know how much more I can say about this, other than the team treated my home much like I imagine they would treat theirs. In summary, I found the project in its entirety to be well thought out and managed, and the results to be of the highest quality. In our opinion, the value added by the team throughout the project lifecycle cannot be overestimated. I'd like to take this opportunity to make the reader aware of one other situation that occurred. In 2010, we experienced a problem with one of the aforementioned bathroom shower floors we had redone in our original project, approximately 10 years earlier. At the time of this original project, Ron told us the structural work would be guaranteed. When the floor was inspected to determine the cause of the problem, it was determined that a lining had failed, and thus the problem was in no way related to the work performed by RJ Landis. In spite of this failure in the manufacturer's material, Ron took it upon himself to replace the floor at no cost to me. This is indeed rare, and serves to characterize the nature of my relationship with the company. I find I've developed the utmost respect for this organization, and I have total confidence in anything Ron tells me. The organization provides an extremely good value and return on investment for anyone interested in quality home remodeling. It's interesting to note that I'm sometimes asked why I didn't do some of this work myself, the "less costly" way, to which I consistently respond, "I did, I hired someone who knows what they're doing".

I am SO GLAD we hired RJ Landis for our new windows. We talked to a lot of replacement window companies and decided on Landis because they took into account the style and quality of our entire home, not just the window frames. They were definitely not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive. The crew was GREAT to work with and were very professional and clean. They recommended a window that is so much warmer than the old ones, they look great and they work well with the other windows in the house that were not replaced. The bedrooms are so much warmer and quieter. The window that replaced in the bathroom looks better than ever--the tile surround matches the existing tile perfectly. Great work and easy to work with! We will call them first when we remodel our kitchen!
