Design Emporium were recommended to us and we have used them to significantly design and reconstruct the internal area of our house. Specifically, the works involved opening up the living and dining room, removing and rebuilding walls, complete design and renovation of this area and other rooms, the addition of two bi-fold doors on the rear exterior wall and construction of garden decking.
An important consideration was the fact that we live overseas, so we were reliant on Design Emporium to manage the entire project without regular review from ourselves.
Our primary contact was with Rik Smith, the Managing Director, who clearly has a great ability to visualise and design to a high standard. During initial discussions, and throughout the project, he made himself available whenever required, spending many hours with us to discuss all issues, both great and small. This was one of his strengths, ensuring everything was addressed, from planning permission and demolition, through to plug location and lighting set-up. Indeed, when we returned to review progress we were delighted to find small details that we had not considered, i.e. subtle lighting around the garden decking and a panel by multiple light switches engraved with each light function. All the works carried out were of a high standard and regularly monitored by Rik Smith.
Rik Smith and his interior designer spent many hours getting to know us, and our preferences. They requested pictures of items of furniture and artwork that we wanted to incorporate into the project. From this they developed a range of mood boards, which captured exactly what we desired, from the colours of walls, soft furnishing and curtains, to materials for sofas, dining chairs and light fittings.
In summary, we are delighted with the entire project from start to finish and would have no hesitation in using the services of Design Emporium again.
