We met with Rick to discuss a simple but unusual home design based on what travelers might find in a west Texas frontier military post. Rick was quick to seize upon our concept and translate it into a modern way of living. Rick led us on a pathway of discovery as together we explored the design of this house. We have worked together on neighborhood amenity and community centers, veterinary clinics, and a large kennel facility. He is great to work with, technically very competent, professional in his dealings, and always has a positive attitude. Although I do not have experience working with him on residential designs, I would definitely recommend his architectural services on commercial projects.

I have known and worked with Rick on a variety of projects over the last 40 years. It doesn't seem that long ago, but we first met in the late 1970's, when I was just an itinerant carpenter and remodeler. Remodeling design has always been one of Rick's strengths. We worked together on a number of jobs in West Austin, Tarrytown, and West Lake Hills. We were much younger then, Austin was young too, and just starting to grow like crazy. Rick is and has always been a consummate professional and I have enjoyed the times we have worked together. I look forward to the next time we can work together again.

I have known Rick for many years and have seen several of his award winning parade homes over the years, and although we have been a family that stays where they are for 25 years, we did use Rick and his team for an extensive updating remodel. The whole process in working with Rick and the ideas he brings to the table, really got the whole remodel experience on the right track to where it was as enjoyable as possible when you have to exist in the construction zone. We are so glad we pulled the trigger on that about 5 years ago, and have thoroughly enjoyed the renovation. We would not have changed a thing, and still enjoy showing off the changes to friends and people when they visit our home. Even our contractor has brought clients by and shown the project off, as he was proud of how it all turned out as well. Good luck to you when you seek to get your dream environment.

My husband and I hired Rick to design a custom home for us several years ago. I gave Rick a notebook of pictures of things I liked, some were concrete ideas, some fell along the lines of I just like the feel of this look. Rick took that and ran with it, he designed an absolutely beautiful home for us that incorporated all our wants and the design aspect I was going for. We get compliments on our house continually, and we both love the relaxed modern feel that Rick designed for us. Rick was a joy to work with and I would highly recommend him for any project.

He treated me like he's known me from the 3rd grade and has a very good eye for what would be best for your situation. If you are on a budget, he will help meet your goals but give you the best looking products on the market to choose from for materials. As you can see from his other works, he cuts no corners. Rick designed an Arts & Crafts contemporary for a rundown duplex! The goals was to create a single-home look from an apartment looking building. He used the existing structure and added bump outs, window awnings, a new porch and an upstairs deck to create this effect. He also successfully and beautifully designed a garage from a carport. The curb appeal is outstanding and completely changed the look. We also had a great builder who implemented the design!

Rick designed Zoot Pet Hospital in Georgetown, Texas for me in 2007. Veterinary Economics magazine awarded Zoot runner-up for the 2009 national veterinary hospital design of the year. We are proud to have the most beautiful practice in Texas if not the country thanks to Rick. He is a pleasure to work with and I still consider him a good friend today, 5 years after our opening. I also built a large custom home Rick designed in Cimarron Hills. After completed, this beautiful home has turned out to be one of the premier homes in the entire community. Rick O'Donnell is a outstanding architect. We designed our home in Georgetown, TX and Rick was a great listener, designed to our needs and brought creativity to the product. Our house is on acreage and the exterior is galvanized metal with metal roof, for energy savings and low maintenance. Rick was able to design the project so it did not look like a big barn.

He is educated, insightful, has a creative design sense and most importantly, from a builders perspective, he is practical, reasonable and a true team player. Rick helped us with a remodel and addition. He is very creative, yet practical. He's easy to work with, we never felt we had to tiptoe around his ego. Gave sound and honest advice. He was able to make our addition look like it was part of the original house but in a fresh, updated way.
