Richard has tackled a job which has frightened off many other carpenters/joiners. In my Edwardian cottage, a previous owner had taken out the original staircase, replaced it the other way round which required it to have a turn at the bottom for the last few steps. There were '70's style horizontal banisters around the stairwell on the 1st floor, but no handrail or banisters at all on the flight from 1st to 2nd floor. I wanted glass panels instead of banisters, with a safe handrail. Specialist companies e.g. Neville Johnson, said they could not do the job as they would have to replace the bottom newel post which had the turning stairs fitted into it. I could not return the staircase to its original orientation, as these days Building Regs would judge the gradient too steep.
I found Richard on Houzz and he came and had a look, thought about it for a couple of days and came up with an excellent plan and a very reasonable price. He was clear that he could do the necessary joinery but would prefer I then found my own glazier.
He duly arrived (with colleague Ken), they did the work in less than 2 days, were absolutely great to have in the house and have done a fantastic job, I recommend them most highly.
