Barbara Purdy designed and oversaw a total renovation of my ensuite bathroom. Her interior design training, attention to details, and consultation with me throughout the project resulted in a beautifully designed space that works really well and looks beautiful. Barbara also redesigned my kitchen’s cabinetry to give the area a modern clean look. The backslash choice and porcelain flooring tied the design together and visually opened up the space. We decided to renovate our kitchen after 30 plus years. A kitchen designer was definitely needed to take on what I considered an overwhelming task. Barb is very experienced and professional with years in the business. She discussed our desires and expectations and submitted 2 designs. We wanted good quality, low maintenance materials, she then presented us with several choices and guided us through the selection. Her attention to detail is superior. Cabinets, counters, flooring and other materials were all delivered when expected and she was on hand for the installation. Her suppliers were excellent. She was always accessible and very responsive. We are delighted with our new kitchen.

Barbara was able to reimagine my kitchen and living space in a way that I wasn’t able to and I love the result! Her creativity, colour sense and design experience show through in so many details. The well thought out floor plan, increased cabinetry and countertop has made the kitchen a joy to work in. Barbara has supported me through the entire project from her creation of detailed plans and drawings, to recommending local tradespeople, bringing in floor, tile, countertop samples and even managing the project while I was away on vacation. She has been great to communicate and work with and I would not hesitate to hire her again or recommend her for your home project.

We first worked with Barb when she designed our kitchen renovation 12 years ago. Barb listened to our ideas and created a space that is beautiful and functional. When we decided to renovate our ensuite, we immediately asked Barb to be the designer. We knew she would create an exciting/functional ensuite and trusted her with the operation of the project. Barb chose some exciting materials (ex. quartz walls) that made our bathroom dynamic. We were so excited to work with her again and to see our bathroom renovation unfold. I just wanted to quickly thank Barbara for her help with our new bathroom design. We have been talking about doing a reno for a few years, not really deciding on anything. Barb was recommended to us by friends who had her help with their kitchen and bathroom. So happy we called , we are starting to renovate in Sept so unfortunately I don't have photos. we do have plans. Barb has the greatest ideas, she has constantly been in touch with us, bringing samples right to our home to choose. I am very excited to start. Barb has taken on several aspects of our new house build. She designed the kitchen completely and incorporated all the extras to make it functional for someone who likes to cook a lot from scratch. Barb was the design consultant at Deslaurier Custom Cabinets for our kitchen renovation. While we had a good idea of what we wanted for the physical layout of our new kitchen as well as the type of cabinets, it became obvious we needed help with materials, details, and colour scheme. Barb eagerly collaborated with us, providing several design suggestions that both incorporated our ideas and provided us with some of her own thoughts based on her wealth of experience. This was extremely helpful and eventually lead to a design with which we are very happy. It was with the colour scheme for our kitchen, however, where Barb’s talent and experience really paid off. She has a very good eye for colour and convinced us to go with flooring and backsplash choices that we would never have picked on our own. The result is a very functional kitchen design with a colour scheme that ‘flows’ with the rest of the first floor but also has some ‘pop’. We would highly recommend Barb to anyone designing our renovating their home.

Barb Purdy was a delight to work with over the years. We moved to Bacchus Island in 2016 and purchased an existing home. We immediately wanted the kitchen and bathrooms redone. Barb worked with us every step of the way and we have been delighted with the results. Barb has helped us design an area around our modern fireplace and TV, built-ins in the master bedroom, three full bathrooms and one powder room, and a bar in the lower half of the house where we sit and look out at our lake and watch the sunsets. Because our home is open concept, she has helped us keep the flow from one area to the next. Barb "Thinks out of the Box" and comes up with some fabulous ideas. She has been great in giving us more storage throughout the house, which is so important to a woman. Our kitchen is comfortable, easy to work in, with great work and storage spaces, and wonderful pullouts. She was able to guide us to areas in the city to buy our appliances, taps, sinks, flooring, and paint color. She always gave us great input and guidance. I highly recommend Barb!

11 years later and we are still enjoying our kitchen, it’s design and decor. Barb was instrumental in moving us through the steps, moving things forward, and selecting colours, cabinets, flooring, backsplash and lighting... in addition to the excellent design of the cabinets and optimizing storage, all done with a pleasant approach and timely advice. Barb designed a lovely space around our fireplace complete with cabinets and floating shelves. Our home is small and we were concerned the add ons might make the room look smaller and cramped. Instead, the opposite happened. With the fireplace cabinetry the room has opened up and appears brighter and more interesting. We appreciated Barb’s attention to detail and are more than pleased with the results.

Barb was great to work with and we're really happy with the design of our kitchen. She gave her honest opinion about what colours/styles would work well together and she got us the top things on our wish list within our budget. There were a couple of details we wanted (ie. hood vent) and we brought in pictures of them, even if it wasn't a standard item or something the company had done before Barb was creative in making it happen. She was also very responsive and easily reached throughout the process.

We met Barb at Deslaurier Custom Cabinets while considering how to remodel our kitchen. Proving to be a very good listener, Barb generated an absolutely perfect design. Never before had we taken on such a large project and we were very concerned about making major mistakes. Barb was the interior design consultant for our new contemporary custom home, built between July 2015 and August 2016. My wife and I have different tastes and we needed some leadership and professional design input. Barb's system for selecting flooring, wall colours and materials, trim and lighting was amazing. She was very helpful and timely in firming up design elements - for example, fireplace stone and hearth, mirrors, and suggestions for wall hangings. Barb is an expert in kitchen layout and design. We are very happy with the positioning of appliances, layout of work spaces for cooking and mixing drinks, drawer/cupboard sizes and features, as well as many small design elements that we would never think of that make the kitchen classy. We whole-heartedly recommend Barb for large and small projects. We will be hiring her again to help design our basement bar area.

From beginning to end Barb was fantastic to work with and had great ideas on how to design and put together the most beautiful, quality kitchen. Deslaurier Kitchens and Barb stand behind their product they couldn't do enough to make us happy and came back to inspect and adjust everything to perfection. We had a very small and challenging kitchen space that we had been hoping to renovate ever since we moved in 10 years ago. Prior to meeting Barbara, we had already consulted with four other designers - however the design solutions were always similar and did not appeal nor work for us. By that time we were starting to believe that the only solution would be to expand the kitchen by building an addition. I remember the afternoon we met Barbara and described to her the challenges we were facing with our kitchen and our hopes to renovate it without having to add an addition. Barbara began sketching and within the hour she solved our "kitchen puzzle" in a way that we would never had imagined ! We could not believe it ( we were expecting more of the same). But Barbara came up with a design concept that was unique and flows well for us. We now love our new kitchen - and the bonus is that we did not have to build a new addition. Barbara is a respectful professional and great listener. She is an exceptionally creative designer with ability to "think outside of the box". She produced a kitchen design for us that stood apart from the others, Most importantly she created a kitchen space that is very functional for us and where we now enjoy preparing food and having friends over.

I met with 3 designers for ideas about renovating my kitchen. Only Barb had the vision to create a functional and family oriented area that made sense. She transformed a kitchen that we didn't enjoy being in to a space where the family gathers together naturally. She completely changed the way we live, and we're so happy with the outcome.

Barb has helped us redesign a bathroom, several years ago and more recently our kitchen. We were very happy with her meticulous attention to detail in measuring, designing and planning for each reno. She came up with super concepts for each room that made good use of their unique space, improved functionality, increased storage yet also enhanced traffic flow, while also ensuring that the design fit aesthetically in our 115+ year old home. She was a super resource for all the details involved in such a project, from new appliances, to light fixtures, tiles, colours and door knobs. Barb quickly got a feel for our preferences, providing us with reasonable options from which to make our selection. The result in each room is stunning.

I had approached 3 other well known/rated kitchen companies in Ottawa bafore going over to Deslaurier and these were miserable experiences. 2/3 gave me nothing in the way of a design concept and the 3rd was creative, but WAY OUT there. I lucked into working with Barb quite by accident, but from the minute she walked into my kitchen (which no one else would do) and starting telling me what was wrong with the original design, I knew I had met the right person-finally. Barb was able to develop an excellent design that was both functional and beautiful and was able to work within my budget. She worked with me on all aspects of the kitchen and when I had chosen something she didn't like she would nicely suggest an alternative and was 100% correct. every time. As a complete neophyte to the world of home renovation, I was faced with so many choices and decisions and had no clue where to start in transforming a gutted 1970s kitchen to something new and contemporary.
