Our apartment had a lot of work needed to be done, and our timeframe to move in was short. We needed a contractor who was responsive, efficient, and reliable. Jeff ticked all the boxes and was able to get everything done in time.

I actually had the opportunity to work with Jeff Streich /Prime Renovations on two projects in nyc... my personal NYC UES Penthouse and a 4500 sq foot office gut rebuild Jeff and his firm deserve 10 stars and I wish there was a way to rate them that way. I worked with Prime Renovations on the conversion of part of a restaurant space into an event space for a well-known chef. Jeff Streich and the Prime Renovations team were wonderful to work with. They went above and beyond to do whatever necessary to get the project completed to the client’s satisfaction and to help me out as the kitchen designer when needed. This was a high-end project and Prime’s attention to detail was well suited for a project like this. I have worked on many large projects over the years and in some cases, an “us vs them” mentality prevails among the professionals. With Prime, it felt like team work and that we were all after the same goal, which is how it should be. I look forward to working with Prime Renovations in the future. As an architect, I've worked with countless contractors, and can speak to how different Jeff and his team are from the others out there. Jeff and his team worked masterfully on the renovation of my condo project in the UWS. From the initial walkthrough, I knew that I could count on him to work creatively with me throughout the construction process. We ran into several hitches along the way (picky client who wanted things done a certain way, a pipe that we had to work around, strict building management rules, and product delivery issues), but Prime Renovations made sure that none of the issues would compromise the integrity of the project or the timeline. Although the change orders were not cheap, our project came in at less than 20% above their initial quote, which was very reasonable to begin with, and was finished weeks ahead of schedule! Highly recommend Prime Renovations to anyone looking for a team that will deliver a quality project.

We first hired Jeff Streich 10 years ago to renovate our upper east side kitchen and redo our floors. He executed the job flawlessly and finished the work on schedule. When we purchased a 4 bedroom on the upper east side, we had no doubt who we would hire to complete the gut renovation. Jeff was involved in every detail from start to finish. He gave input on our construction plans, personally took me to select appliances and plumbing fixtures and visited the job site on a daily basis to make sure everything was running smoothly. You will not find another contractor who will provide the same accessibility and personal attention that Jeff does. He is a rare find. We have recommended him to many friends for their projects and nobody has been disappointed. We recommend him with enthusiasm and without hesitation!

I hired Prime Renovations for the gut renovation of my 2,000 sqft upper-east apartment. This 6-month project took 13 months for Prime to complete ‘substantially’. Since then, Prime repeatedly promised to finish the remaining work ASAP, but never did so. After 20 months, I had to terminate the contract with cause. The end-product looked good and met most expectations, but the process of getting there was literally torturous, and consumed significant amount of personal time and money. Prime had a 4-star team, i.e., highly capable with proper guidance, but lacked core management skills to keep the project on track. I repeatedly observed that Jeff had no intentions of keeping his schedule commitments, and didn’t hesitate cutting corners at my expense. If your project is simple, and you don’t care about the schedule, Prime can deliver. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere to avoid the unnecessary anxiety and waste of time.

We worked with Jeff and his team at Prime Renovations, Inc. to gut and combine two apartments. His team transformed our space into a gorgeous three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment that we get to call home. As first time buyers and renovators we knew communication was going to be important. Initially Jeff took the time to walk us through his quote to help us understand costs and expectations. Plus, and more importantly, Jeff is always, ALWAYS available to talk, text or email. We couldn't be happier with the team that helped make our design vision (and extensive wish-list) a reality. His crew is comprised of master carpenters and craftsmen who clearly have a passion for what they do -- which shows in the detail and quality of their work!

We chose Prime Renovations to do a big renovation of our 3BR Brooklyn warehouse loft. We did a gut renovation of bathroom and kitchen, sanded and stained floors, built out two closets (wall work), did some large demolition, and did electrical work such as adding fixtures. Hiring a contractor is like getting married - you are going to be spending a lot of time with the person, so trust and communication are key. I met three contractors at my apartment to get an idea of price and their approach to the work. One contractor came recommended by someone in the building, but when he told me that he recommended scaling back part of my bathroom renovation to make the project easier, it didn't sit well with me. If the contractor is saying "No" at the beginning, imagine how that is going to sound one month into the project. One contractor seemed great in person, had a lot of ideas, sent me a detailed quote, and then was very hard to reach for weeks, explaining that he was doing a lot of traveling. I believed him, but I am on my phone all the time, and I wanted someone more accessible. Although I was tempted to go with the second person, I was a little weary about the communication issue. A friend who works in real estate told me that is normal with contractors, that you have to bug them to get a response. I believed him until I spoke with Jeff, who is the owner of Prime Renovations. He met me on time, replied to my emails and phone calls quickly, and had a lot of ideas for make my renovation happen. There were a number of pros to choosing Prime Renovations: - Communication: This is huge, Jeff is available by email and phone all the time. This is so important when you are dealing with all the stress of a renovation. - Quality: Very high. I am a little shocked when I look around my apartment. It looks so nice that my wife and I can't believe that we live here. This also meant that many little things were done that make the project look high end. - Subcontractors (flooring, painting, electrical, plumbing): These guys were excellent. When we had an issue or wanted to change things, such as the location of our chandelier, moving a ceiling fan, dealing with a problem dishwasher, etc., Jeff was quick to deal with it. - Integrity. I don't use this word lightly. I am a psychiatrist and spend all day trying to help people understand their motivations. I believe that Jeff is an honestly good person who would not cheat a client. Although renovation is inevitably stressful, I trusted him with my home. As a result, we love living in our renovated apartment. I am thankful I chose to work with Jeff and Prime Renovations. ONE YEAR UPDATE: The quality still looks great. We had an issue with the W/D and Jeff came out himself to look at it and then sent the plumber, who came for free. Outstanding guarantee. Also, my father is an engineer and home builder outside of the city and he specializes in spotting mistakes and errors in construction. He stayed with me for a few days and spontaneously said that the construction was very well done, especially the small details. Huge compliment and it speaks to the quality of my renovation. I love my apartment post renovation.

We bought our first co-op in NYC and hired Prime Renovations to do a gut renovation on a 2-bedroom/2-bath apartment. Jeff Streich and his team did a fantastic job. He stayed on budget throughout the job, which is a major accomplishment, especially in Manhattan, and he worked with the co-op board and architect with no problems. Though there were a few delays due to delivery of products ordered and in some cases backordered, he made the process as smooth as possible. Jeff guided us through the entire process, from choosing tiles, appliances, fixtures, mouldings, etc. His ideas were constructive, creative and innovative! One of the best things I can say about him is that he was available to us whenever we needed him and he still is. To that end we recently decided that the paint we chose did not hold up well; it needed to be redone. I phoned Jeff, he came over, and he had a one of his workmen redo it, without a drip or a scratch to the floors. Prime Renovations is not the type of company that says goodbye when the final payment is made and never is available again. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending him to any friend or family member.

We worked with Jeff and his team to fully renovate our 2 bedrooms apartment. They did an amazing job and were on time! The best point with this team is that they have a good sens of what can be done or not and don't hesitate to tell you. They also make very cool suggestions which is rare for general contractor. We did not have an architect and Jeff helped us a lot on designs. Jeff helped us through all the way and gave us all his good addresses for appliances, hardware, plumbing, wallpaper etc. It was a great team work. I highly recommend Jeff and his team and will hire him again for my next project!

We hired Jeff in his crew at the end of 2012 to do a complete gut renovation on a loft in Tribeca. The projected ended exactly a year ago in June 2013 on time and on budget. Jeff's team were excellent, professional and courteous. They gave us updates near daily (I used to swing by a lot!). They were very respectful of some of the original design ideas, but also were not afraid to make suggestions when they truly believed that there were better options. Like many old buildings, the project through up some hidden surprises along the way and the team managed to go beyond the original plans to navigate these. Naturally, we were aware that they were balancing other projects, like all contractors, but they never once failed to respond to any request/question. I have decided to wait a year before writing the review - mainly to see how the project worked out when you live after the work was complete. Like any large project, a few things popped up (as we expected) but the few times we needed them to fix something, Jeff's had someone here within 24 hours -- no questions - no extra cost ...excellent after service (unlike some of the horror stories you hear about some contractors). Highly Recommended.

We worked with Jeff and his team on a full gut renovation of an apartment in Manhattan. They were very organized, neat, and professional. There were always knowledgeable people on site from Jeff's company, and they responded very quickly to any questions or concerns we had. I would reccomend them without reservation!

I hired Jeff to renovate my kitchen in a small co-op apartment, re-finish my floors, and remove a non-load bearing wall. Jeff's approach to my apartment always focused on maximizing the return on my investment. He also came from the perspective of teaching along the way, such as which brands of appliances have the greatest return, paint/wallpaper combinations, etc. I think what I appreciate most about Jeff is that I feel comfortable reaching out to him after the renovation. I recently had a separate electrical issue in my apartment and he graciously worked with me (and within a tight budget) to upgrade the electrical in my apartment.

Prime completed a full renovation of my 1,000 sq foot apartment in a white glove Manhattan co-op. The work included 1) gut renovation of the kitchen and bath 2) new hardwood floors, base and crown moldings and interior doors and skim coating in the remaining rooms 3) an electrical system upgrade 4) fabricating and installing some custom shelving and 5) installation of thru the wall heating/AC units. The craftsmanship is top notch - the overall look and finishes are beautiful. The job came in right on budget, no surprises. I heard from the building staff that Prime was easy to work with. During the planning stage Jeff, Primes President, as well as the suppliers he introduced me too, provided valuable input on plumbing, fixture, tile and appliance choices. I endorse Prime without reservation.

As a first time owner of a 2 bedroom condo in Dumbo I was pretty nervous in selecting a contractor for the job as I have heard numerous horror stories of how badly it can be if a good contractor was not used. We had to gut bathroom, move walls, redo floor, paint and many electrical work and plumbing work. Needless to say it was not a small job. They did a lot of custom work in the apt, from custom closet to custom molding/frames, and they were great at it. The moment I went in the bathroom after it was done I almost cried. I was able to meet with Jeff pretty much anytime I wanted even weekends to discuss even the smallest details. Go with them and you will be happy like me.

I have hired Jeff twice as a general contractor, the second time was for a major renovation of a 2000 sq. loft. Besides the fact that the results were great, he has two great qualities for a general contractor that are almost unheard of...he is honest and always keeps his word. Even after the job is done and he has been fully paid, if you need anything done he will stand by his work. He provides great work at a fair price. I have already recommended him to several friends

I retained Prime Renovations to do a substantial renovation on my newly purchased coop. The work included extensive wall skimming and painting, a new, open kitchen and a new bathroom. I elected to refinish rather than replace the wood floors since my budget did not include replacement. The job was completed on time and on budget, but a few issues either surfaced or were discovered within a few days or weeks of the completion of the project. The cost of the floor refinishing included repairing or replacing parquet tile that could not be salvaged, yet within days of the job's end, I noticed some of the tiles still producing a "popping" sound. The silicone caulking around the perimeter of the bathroom ceiling was left incomplete. Finally, the brand of kitchen cabinetry that I purchased was not installed with the company's drawer end plates. Frankly, I was more enthusiastic about the results on completion day than I am now, several months later. The moral here is to wait at least several weeks, and actually live with the renovation, rather than letting your enthusiasm at the outset color your ultimate opinion. In essence, where I would have rated the overall job a "B plus," I now rate it a "B minus."
