Pillar Construction & Remodel

Great people to work with. We were nervous going into this project, but Shawn Griffith was great to work with. He worked with us and helped us get through the process with minimum delays. We wanted to remodel a bathroom and discovered termite damage along the way that had spread to adjoining rooms. Shawn provided excellent guidance on the best way to handle our problems. He was also there to help and consult with us anytime there was a hiccup or a question. We would be happy to recommend Shawn and Pillar Construction to anyone. Glen Hall provided great project management. He had workers lined up for every step along the way. Glen kept us informed on who was scheduled and when to expect them. Everyone on site displayed a professional and efficient manor. The excellent workmanship left very few minor items for the punch list. Our project was completed just before Thanksgiving (sooner than expected) and Glen Hall was definitely on this year's "Thankful For" list.

After another contractor had bailed on us, we reached out to Pillar. They responded promptly, gave an accurate estimate and finished the job as promised. Like most construction projects, we ran into some problems but they worked around it and helped us to end up with a finished product that we are very happy with. Glen, the field supervisor, was especially helpful and made sure the job was done well. He also responded quickly to questions. If we had any complaint it would be that they are very busy which means some days you may not see the crew, but all of this was communicated. All in all, very happy with our primary bathroom remodel.

On time . Cleaned up. Wonderfull job. Price was right. Would recommend time. A real professional contractor..we are very happy. Does many jobs in our area.

I loved working with Pillar and its representatives - Shawn, Haley, Glenn, etc as they were incredibly professional, extremely timely (finished building a two-story home in record time and a month prior to the stipulated contract time), and very responsive to all of my questions. My new neighbors raved about how quickly everything was built and how hard everyone was working on the project. This was my first time building a home and I could not have been more happy with the process. Shawn, my favorite GC / builder, walked me through every single step throughout the construction, while Haley guided me through selections and more selections to fit my "budget". Should I ever need another home built or renovated, I would definitely call Pillar.

We had a wonderful experience with Pillar Construction. Our project was a total kitchen and home renovation. This was the 4th time using Pillar and the quality of workmanship is excellent. Haley and Shelby helped with the design, layout, cabinets, flooring, countertops and paint colors. They both have a great design sense and really helped narrow our choices. Shawn, Glen and the entire Pillar crew did exactly what they said they were going to do. Always on time and we especially liked the clean up at the end of every day. As with any big project there were a few changes we made. Doors, switches, light fixtures etc. These items were never a problem and the additional cost was very reasonable. The custom touches Pillar did really make our renovation stand out. The look on our friends and neighbors face say it all when they see the house for the first time. We will definitely use Pillar for our next project.

Bathroom Remodel We are very pleased with Pillar Construction company. The process from beginning to end was handled by all with a professional and competent understanding of what we wanted. The actual remodel of our bathroom was completed with people who were knowledgeable and experienced. The finished project was to our complete satisfaction. We would recommend Pillar and would use them again when needed.

Shawn Griffith is an extremely reliable contractor. On this particular project, he did a total gutting and renovation of two bathrooms. In a different home, he renovated two bathrooms and a laundry room. He begins a job when he promises. He has experienced project managers and reliable subcontractors. Our experience is that his jobs come in on price, with the exception of agreed upon changes. When problems occur, he makes them right. His company helps with the design, explaining what can be, what can be done--however it will be costly, and what he does not recommend. His team also helps with material selection, and his team coordinates all of the material supply, except for those limited items that the homeowner choses to supply. The work is of very high quality.

We hired Pillar Construction for a complete Master Bath tear-out and remodel. It was a tough project, there were some glitches along the way, but Pillar went beyond what was necessary to make everything right.

It took us several months to find the right company to do our bathroom (3) remodels. However, it was worth the search. Shawn and his team especially Glen were incredibly professional and always transparent about timelines and materials. Doing a remodel is never easy but doing it in the middle of a pandemic was short of a miracle. The team was on budget and never made changes without an approved change request from us. I would recommend Pillar to my family and friends without hesitation. Incredibly professional not only their entire staff but also their subcontractors. They were incredibly gracious and even went above and beyond by adding a few extras that were not in the original plan to make everything perfect for us.

Pillar Construction aims to please!! With shortages of products , etc Pillar works to meet the needs of their clients!! I give Pillar an A+ for communication which means everything during a project!! My husband and I highly recommend this company! They did a complete master bath shower tear-out and installation, and painting and new flooring of (almost) our entire house. The owner is professional, honest, punctual, fair, knowledgeable, and has expertise in his field. We experienced excellent service with the office staff as well as the workers in our home.

As a real estate agent I was a buyer’s agent on the sale of a home constructed by Pillar Construction! At the time of the home inspection, my inspector who is a licensed contractor, advised me that the house was built the way he would build a home! I remembered that when my mom moved in with me Ams we needed to add an addition to our home! Pillar Construction did an awesome job on our addition! Their subs were all experienced , respectful and mindful as to cleaning up after themselves! During Covid the Pillar construction group were always transparent as to lack of supplies, if there would be a delay and the next course of action throughout the building process! I have had neighbors come by asking about the company and welcomed them to see come and see the finished product. I have encouraged my neighbor to call Pillar Construction for an estimate on their desired future project and I have had one real estate customer call to get a quote on a bath remodel! We recently used Pillar for a kitchen renovation and are very happy with their work. We met with several companies prior to starting our project and chose Pillar because we liked what we saw of the work they had previously done, they were within our budget and they also made us feel the most comfortable. We lived in our house while the work was being done and Glen and his team did their best to keep things as clean and safe as possible for us both while they were working and after they had gone for the day. Despite the pandemic, we really didn't encounter too many delays. The ones we did were slight and we were kept up to date on the status of everything. Most importantly, Shawn, Glen and the rest of the Pillar team made sure we were happy with the end result and that we got what we wanted. If we asked for something to be fixed or changed, they made sure it got done to our satisfaction. With the scale of our project, two young children, two dogs and working and living in the house while the construction was being done, this project could have easily been a nightmare and very stressful, but it wasn't. It honestly couldn't have gone much smoother. We love our new space and are very happy we chose to work with Pillar. We'd definitely work with them again for future projects.

Shawn and his staff did a great job making the sketches and images I initially supplied on my dinning room table materialize into a well-built /designed 3 car garage with bonus storage on top. My wife and I, while looking for our "forever" home & specifically purchased our home and it's location with the intention of being able to build a separate detached workshop/garage area for the many hobbies I have and the additional storage space. Soon after moving into our home I started the search for the right General Contractor that I would feel comfortable with that I could trust and would be able to get the job done. I did my research, believe me. I was very impressed with Shawn from day one, Shawn was no-nonsense and after the usual introduction he was genuinely interested in what my project was. As I stated earlier, I had some sketches and a few magazine pictures of what I was looking for exterior-wise, and Shawn took it from there asking me what type tools/hobbies that I'd be using the garage for? I mentioned some welding, wood-working and so on, and with that he started determining the number of outlets, amp requirements and so on. He wanted to get involved in my project from day one, and that impressed me. Shawn did this all before we got into a price quote for the project. My 3 car garage/bonus room was bid on by 4 other General Contractors in our area. First off, most were not eager to take on a detached garage project, because they were too busy with residential home building. I did not feel comfortable with the sales people that I met with representing some of the other GC's. It just seemed like they really didn't have first hand knowledge of some of the building structure questions that I asked during their meetings with me, as they kept referring to, "What ever the engineers plans call for". Of course, That's several thousand to draw up! Money$$ First question out of most of their mouths, "How much money are you going to spend?" Dead turn off, right away! Shawn, the owner of PILLAR was able to able to provide me with some general details of the proposed structure (unlike the above mentioned), without having to look at a engineers drawing , because he has years of experience and that showed from the beginning to the end of the building project. Something worth mentioning, from the first day every person that worked in the construction of my building was a professional skilled tradesman, I was totally impressed! If there was anything that wasn't exactly the way I wanted it, Shawn , the job supervisor Glenn and his team of dedicated workers made sure it was right. Good people!

We are extremely pleased with Pillar Construction and the results of our recent renovation. The job was done on time and within the agreed upon price! The dreaded punch list is being followed up upon quickly and with good results. Shawn and Haley (and Glenn!) were all wonderful to work with. They had great ideas, didn’t upsell you anything, and always made sure things got done. We had Pillar replace the siding on our house, taking it from T-1 looking cedar siding to Hardi lap and shake siding. Not only was the price very fair, but they commenced work without delay and finished in the timeframe promised. And most importantly, the end product looks amazing. All of the people working on the project were friendly, considerate and seemed genuinely happy to be here. I would definitely hire Pillar again for future projects.

Pillar Construction renovated my entire home and I couldn’t be more satisfied! I had just purchased the home & the next day Shawn’s crew was there to start demo. We tore down a wall to open up the kitchen to the family room, put in all new cabinets, counter tops, flooring, tile in the bathrooms, paint inside & out, plumbing, & electric fixtures. Everything came out better than expected. Shawn and his crew worked in a timely manner to get the job done and are also some of the nicest people. Although I wasn’t living at the house during the remodel, the crew kept the job site clean every time I stopped by. I can’t thank them all enough, will definitely be using Pillar for my next project!

The Pillar Construction team did a wonderful job renovating our small master bathroom. The project was initially delayed due to COVID-19, but once the Pillar team was allowed to begin work they got the renovation done in a quick and efficient manner. All workers that came into our house were quiet, respectful, and cleaned up after themselves. If we are ever in need of a renovation project in the future we will surely hire them again.

This review is long overdue! In August of 2019, we purchased a home in Ponte Vedra Beach that was in need of a full interior and exterior update. Shawn and his crews tackled our home renovation with not even 2 weeks notice, and did an incredible job! They are professional, knowledgeable, honest & direct. This was our first home remodel project, and Shawn's guidance and input were invaluable throughout the process. We moved in just before the 2020 new year and couldn't be happier with our decision to work with Pillar and with our final product!

We are very pleased with our master bathroom remodel. The difference is amazing and truly reflects the vision we had for the space. The remodel included enlarging the shower, installing a free-standing tub, and updating all the tile and fixtures. Communication with Shawn and his team was easy. Our questions/concerns were addressed promptly and resolved to our satisfaction. We were kept informed as the work progressed, and the project was completed on time.

We are more than pleased with the work done by the entire Pillar crew. From start to finish, their careful guidance, professionalism, and knowledge were appreciated. We put this project off for years, fearing we would run across another "professional" similar to the one who remodeled our master bath in 2007. No glaring problems, but some minor stuff which just did not sit well. We picked Pillar after watching them work on a house in our neighborhood which had a large oak tree fall in the geometric center of the house. Not a speed record on the work, but clearly thorough and professional. Shawn Griffith, owner, came out and surveyed what we had and what we wanted. No fooling, descriptive, took notes and photos, measurements. This was a to the studs remodel of a 50+ sq ft bathroom, with ceiling work, plumbing, no item in the room would stay. The process was very well laid out, with payment schedules, and an in house interior designer person to guide us through the selection process of tile, cabinetry, countertop, all aspects of the job. She proved markedly competent, and the ordeal was done in a few hours. We selected four different tiles and two stone surfaces. It looks great. We felt very well served. The work teams to do the demolition, plumbing, dry wall, cabinetry, tile work, painting, etc. were all on time, competent at least, and careful about leaving any trash/mess. The Pillar teams have been carefully selected, and all are credits to the company. We are pleased. Completely. Our daughter is a MS Architect, licensed, and thoroughly approves of all the work and the quality of it. The first time she saw the heavy paper taped to the wood floor and the "zipper wall" at the door way she said "you have a very good contractor."

I want to let you know how much we are pleased with the work done at my house. The crew was clean, professional and always courteous. Pillar Construction renovated my beach condo including the kitchen, bathroom, flooring and painting. Shawn and his crew did an excellent job and were always courteous and respectful to me. They were able to complete the project within an 8 week timeframe taking into consideration that beach high rise condos are not the easiest as far as accessibility. Superb translation of our ideas into reality coupled with experienced advice on project scope and finishing. Gracious and responsive customer focus, interactive and supportive with design and build refinements. Core Pillar crew is hardworking and detail oriented. Shawn guided us through complex permitting, and advocated for us to get variance to add sunroom to house on tiny lot. He maintained meticulous control of costs and made steady progress to achieve deadline to get us into house by thanksgiving. Beautiful integration of old and new sections of house. Neighbors love the finished product as great neighborhood addition. Shawn and Pillar team are professional, personable, and capable, expert problem solvers who completed this project as a delightful, beautiful and highly functional new home for us.

Our project was very extensive and complex. The Pillar team was very knowledgeable and professional. Stayed on budget and on time even though one of the crew members experienced a personal tragedy. I highly recommend Shawn. He knows what a project needs and gets it done. High level of integrity.

The remodel project of my beachfront high-rise condo by the team at Pillar included moving the hot water heater and ac/heat air handler, raising the drop ceiling from 18” to 6”, laying 48” x 9” plank wood grain porcelain tile, installing new kitchen cabinets and granite countertops, removing popcorn texture from ceilings, repairing water damaged drywall, installing new lighting and painting. They professionally worked with the condo manager and within the HOA rules. Throughout the project I felt that my questions, requests and suggestions were heard and respectfully addressed. Quality of work as well as getting the job done in a timely manner were top priorities. And to top it off, they are just nice people to work with. I have and will continue to recommend Shawn Griffith and the team (Paul, Glen and Reese) at Pillar Construction. I am very pleased with my “new” elegant and modern condo.

We purchased a mid-century modern home that needed extensive remodeling. This included relocating the front entrance door, and introducing a more open floor plan. The open floor plan required the removal of approximately 22 feet of support walls--to be replaced with a large beam to support the roof trusses. Shawn and his group at Pillar came up with an innovative solution for installing the beam that left only a small portion of it visible in the room. The project also called for installing hardwood floors in the renovated areas. Pillar's sub contractor did a great job matching the wood and stain with the existing floors. Pillar was very good coordinating with its sub-contractors, and making sure they corrected anything not done just right. The end product is a modernized home that is faithful to the original style. Great job!

Pillar was great to work with and did a fantastic job with our home remodel. First off, Shawn was quick to get me the initial estimate and quote after our first walk through and was great with following up. He got the project started immediately once we moved forward and stayed on schedule (something that is rare in this industry). After bad damage from Hurricane Irma, multiple companies needed to be hired. We were very pleased with the roofing company we hired, disappointed with the remediation company, thought the window company did "okay", but we were EXTREMELY pleased with the job completed by the Reconstruction company. This reconstruction company was Pillar Construction and Remodel. I worked directly with Shawn Griffith (the owner), as well as a few of his top project managers. He and his crew not only assessed damages, and provided quotes, but they were all very honest with me as to what NEEDS to get done in order to do the job correctly. Since not all damage was covered by Insurance, I knew we'd have some out of pocket expenses, but I wanted to ensure the proper job was done, and that's exactly what Pillar recommended. After fielding several quotes from several companies, I felt most comfortable with going with Pillar, and I'm very glad we did. They were not the most expensive, but they definitely were not the cheapest. However, the old cliche "you get what you pay for" most definitely holds true when dealing with home reconstruction, so I'm very happy we chose quality and someone we felt provided top of the line honesty, integrity, and professionalism, rather than trying to save a few bucks by going with someone cheaper. Pillar rebuilt my fireplace, repaired and replaced a ton of ceilings, drywall, baseboards, and quarter rounds. They repaired outside stucco damage around fireplace chase/wall blend, and completely gutted and rebuilt (upgraded) the Guest Suite bathroom. They also upgraded light switches, installed new sink/garbage disposal, and installed new face on the fireplace. Freshly painted walls in 75% of interior, as well as completely repainted an entire exterior, and all completed under 10 weeks. The place feels brand new, and we couldn't be happier with the job Shawn Griffith and Pillar Construction, LLC have done for us. As soon as I have an opportunity, I will do my best to attach before/after pics, so that you can see for yourself the transformation of this home. The overall cost of project was in the $40-50K range, but there's little doubt that reconstruction Pillar was responsible for didn't help increase the home value by over $55-60K.

Pillar Construction are honest, responsive contractors. They have done several projects for us and we will hire them again for our next project.

Always available to answer questions and very prompt with returning phone calls and emails. Would highly recommend Shawn and Pillar Construction. We were given a budget with any possible additional costs noted upfront. Our ending cost was EXACTLY as expected. No surprises. Additionally, we lived out of town while the project was taking place. Shawn went out of his way to be able to meet with us on our schedule. Work was done to our specifications and standards and any issues were promptly addressed. We contracted Pillar to convert exterior common area into a interior bath, also convert a single car garage into a pool access climate controlled multi-purpose room. We remodeled our sunroom including new windows and doors, redid the floor, and made changes under the deck related to erosion and wood rot. Pillar did an excellent job and was responsive to any questions or problems. We have now used them 3 times and would do so again.

Shawn started and ended the bathroom reconstruction on time, despite Hurricane Matthew hitting the previous week. The tile work is lovely. He helped us to find ways to reduce the cost of the project by suggesting alternatives. He supervised his subs well and ensured a quality job. When there were problems, he fixed them.

We hired Shawn from Pillar Construction to remodel and do some upgrades for a home we recently bought in Jacksonville. Shawn and his team did an excellent job updating the kitchen, laundry room, flooring, paint, and installing a paver patio in the backyard. We were still living in California at the time construction started and Shawn kept us up to date with photographs and emails. We are very satisfied with how our new home has turned out and plan to use him in the future when we are ready to update the bathrooms. Shawn and his crew were excellent to work with. We had new countertops and backsplash put into our kitchen as well as new crown moulding and lifting cabinets. Everything was done on schedule and beyond our expectations and turned out beautifully. We also had tile redone on the fireplace and redid the laundry room. The cabinets and counters in the laundry turned out perfectly. Shawn was available to answer all our questions and helped with each step along the way. I had a short time to have a house updated before moving in, I wasn't having any luck finding a reliable contractor and decided to check out houzz. I found Pillar Construction read the reviews and all were good. I worked with Shawn and he met the time lines I needed along with reasonable pricing and professional work by his crew. I am getting ready to redo the exterior of my home and will be using Pillar Construction again. I have done various house remodels in the past and this one was the easiest for me, everyone showed up when scheduled and Shawn communicated frequently with updates through out the process. We were so impressed with the fine carpentry skills used on our repair of our outside gazebo. There were lots of angles and patterns that made this repair difficult. We love the finished result. Shawn and his subcontractors were wonderful to work with and we would definitely use them again.

We had the opportunity to work with Pillar Construction for the second time after our house was damaged by Hurricane Irma. I have used Pillar Construction twice and both times have been a great experience. The first was a face lift to our rear porch and the second was for exterior cosmetic repairs. Shawn, Paul and the workers did a very nice job remodeling a condo for us. Shawn's estimate was competitive. Shawn was flexible to adapt the plan as there needed to be alterations done to the plan based on what was discovered with the demolition and was very good at generating new ideas. He is very knowledgeable and is easy to work with. He is quick to reply and follow up questions/concerns. We would definitely work with this company again.

Shawn, did a great job on my condo redo. He has worked in this building,Seascape, before, so he knew where the utilities were and the rules. I was not in town for the work, but he did communicate well with email on the progress. The time took longer than he said and I had hoped, but he did come thru and have it ready when we were coming down for the holidays. His subcontractors that I met were very professional and helpful at the end on the punch list. I would recommend his company for someone that is in need of a general contractor to run their remodel.

We love our bathroom. All the subcontractors were nice and professional. A few times I had to stay home all day waiting on one and they never showed up or called. We also thought the price should have been more specific. Sean and Paul were very eager to make sure our bathroom was just like we wanted. They corrected or repaired everything very quickly and several things were redone because they weren't done up to their standards. We would recommend to others.

Pillar construction did a re-model for my husband and I. They were reasonably priced and did the job quickly for us. Shawn is a very straight forward contractor who performs quality work at reasonable price. I was referred to him by my realtor and I am glad that he did. He is reliable and delivered the work as promised within the scheduled time. We bought an older home with a lot of character but in need of a lot of rehab before we could call it our home. Shawn came in with recommendation as to how to make the house more functional without losing the charm of the house and not breaking the pockets either. All the repairs that were characteristic to an older home popped up through the rehab process which was stressful but Shawn handled them strategically, thus making it easier on us. I would recommend hiring Shawn to anyone, anytime , eyes closed.

Pillar Construction replaced two large French doors along with another door to our patio. Custom molding was installed to match the interior. The doors were painted as well. Our contractor came out to meet with us several times in order to offer us several options which allowed us to pick the best one. The doors are absolutely beautiful and make our formal living room and master bedrooms look newer and younger. Pillar's attention to detail was greatly noticed. This was a job well done and we would definitely use Pillar again for our next home project.

Pillar Construction and Remodel Company has provided to us a number of services, for which they have provided the direction for installation of wooden flooring, replacing a stove, plumbing, installing curtains, and replacing lighting fixtures. All their work was performed in an outstanding manner, for which we are most grateful to Shawn Griffith. Shawn insures that all the work is completed in a high quality manner. His sound guidance to us, the homeowner, has been a major asset, for which, we the homeowner are most grateful. The last major project was the installation of a GE Stove Top to include the electrical wiring with safety components. This latest work was another example of Pillar Construction's excellent work.

Shawn Griffith was the general contractor for our bathroom redesign. He was excellent in this role. He accompanied us to building suppliers an provided advice when asked. He stayed on top of the project at all times and ensured that the completion was to our satisfaction.

We have used Pillar for two renovations and are very happy with the outcomes. Our first renovation was kitchen, laundry, garage, roof, flooring, pavers. Our second renovation was master bedroom and master bath with master walk in closet addition. This included moving a load bearing exterior wall to gain new space for the bedroom and bath, and new attic trusses for new trey celing done with tonge and groove (BEAUTIFUL!!) We also replaced siding with Hardey board in the second reno. Pillar Construction did an outstanding job on our poolside cabana remodel at the beach, 400 square feet of the wow factor! Included is a kitchenette with custom cabinetry, marble counter top and accent lighting. We requested stacked river rock be used to wrap a pillar and also to be installed from floor to ceiling in the shower, it also was used as a chair rail in the small bath, challenging and time consuming but done perfectly. We used the tile flooring that mimics hardwood, our installer took the time to show and demonstrate better ways to lay the product so we would not have a glaring repeat pattern. A custom Murphy bed and cabinets were also installed. I could not be more pleased with the outcome. Shawn and his crew were reliable and on task. If there was a problem it was immediately dealt with and the project rolled on to ensure a satisfying completion date. I highly recommend Pillar Construction, they just completed a large tile project for us, and we plan to use them on another project in January.

The Project had repeated new costs due to structural change requirements and went way above budget, but everything met city code guidelines for a brand new, large 2-story deck with a new laundry room. Project turned out perfect and has impressed all who have seen it. Very good quality

The General Contractor, Shawn, provide us with the results we had in mind for our renovation. Too include adding a few nice extras. Shawn is detail orientated and has a vision for the outcome. He scheduled the sub contractors timely but sometimes the subs decided otherwise. However, Shawn reacted quickly to get the subs back on track. Overall, we are pleased with the renovation and would highly recommend Pillar Construction for any small or large remodel.

Not only did we hire Pillar to once, but we hired them twice! Thank you Pillar for coming in and modernizing our guest bath and make it functional, dry wall and carpet our family room, add a hutch to our kitchen, repaint the inside and out along with other miscellaneous things to give it a much needed sprucing and breath life back into the dated house.
