Peter Tart Architect

Years ago I was visiting friends who were moving back in after a substantial renovation. The place was absolutely stunning. The first thing out of my mouth was, who was your architect? Peter Tart. I knew I would have to work with Peter someday. The opportunity came with the renovation of a 1970’s ranch I hoped to live in for a very long time. Peter and I worked on the design for a year, off and on, making alterations. Construction began in February 2021 and was completed on the first day of October 2021. I’ve been living here for six months and not a day passes that I don’t smile in appreciation for what a magnificent space I have to live in. For the record, I have some fairly strong ideas about design. Peter and I quickly found common language and a shared aesthetic. Even with that, there were several substantial changes that we worked through, challenging one another’s thinking. Peter was exceptional at really listening to my thoughts, questioning why, and offering reasons they may be successful or cause us to come up short on a vision. The process yielded a strong design with stunning features, superb flow, and exceptional simplicity. The finished design and its completion have been a testament to the process. Again, there is not a day that I don’t look at this and, well, can’t believe I live here. One of the best things about the design is how each living space complements the adjoining one. The rooms tie together into the whole and are uniquely fulfilled on their own. To be as straightforward as possible, Peter brought superb design ideas to the project, adapted them to my needs, never forced his point of view upon the design, challenged with curiosity, and accepted challenges with grace and thought. From concept to completion I can’t imagine a better example of how this process should unfold. It is rather uncanny to me that I use every room in this house, every day, with the only exception being a guest bedroom or the screen porch in winter. From contemplation to celebration, obligation to slumber, and from rejuvenation to inspired action, this house is a launch pad for my better living. No, it’s not for sale. Call Peter. T. Duncan

His understanding of our needs and amazing vision to create unique designs and spaces has transformed two very dated properties in need of renovation and reimagination, into very amazing homes. We were fortunate to find Peter as he was able to help us transform our existing traditional style of a home into one that was much more progressive.... without changing the whole thing. Our backyard is now a resort style meets industrial chic space that blows away our guests. When we are in our new kitchen looking out to the pool (or anywhere in the space), we still sit in awe at how much we love it. We felt Peter could make this happen given his portfolio and he certainly exceeded our expectations. The reason for not giving five stars relates more to the time it took to get the drawings done and in our budget. We'd just have liked to have seen that happen in a more timely manner.
