Pete designed our forever home on a beautiful lakefront in Auburn, California. From the very start of the design process, Pete listened to what we wanted and continually made necessary changes as our minds changed. He didn't hesitate to offer his opinion, but he always went with what we wanted. We've been through another build, as we always thought that we wanted a designer to treat our house like their own, but it's really about treating your house like it's yours. Pete did that over and over again to the smallest detail. Pete's wife Lynn did an outstanding job helping with the interior design. We used an interior designer for our first home and weren't very satisfied with the overall function and design, turnaround time of changes, and the high cost. Lynn was above and beyond what we experienced the first time. The cost was very affordable, and like Pete's work, was done with our wishes being the most important. The house is definitely a home. Lugo Design created a multi-generational place for family and friends. Honestly, we had high expectations and they were far exceeded. Talent, patience, quality, and compassion are some of the first terms to come to mind when describing working with Pete and Lynn. We are extremely grateful for this opportunity to work with both of them.

Here’s to (Pete and Lynn Lugo) the crazy ones: The misfits, the rebels, the trouble makers, the round pegs in the square holes – the ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify them or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things: They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels? For us, Pete took a home built in 1995 and transformed it into an elegant work of architectural art, without loosing intimacy or functionality - a place for both friends and family to build memories for years to come. They were an absolute joy to work with, and we will be friends for a life time.

My husband and I hired PL Residential Design to create and design our dream home. From our very first meeting we both knew we had made the right decision working with PL Residential Design and Pete Lugo. With Pete’s creative architectural expertise and attention to detail, we have a home under construction we never could have imaged. Pete has immersed himself in our project from the design and drafting phase, onsite building phase, interior selection phase, and design landscape phase. Pete has made himself available by cell, text, and onsite meeting as often as we’ve needed with a caring heart to make this experience as seamless as possible. As we near completion of our home I often tell my husband we could not have done this without Pete. I can truly say PL Residential Design surpassed our expectations on designing a modern yet warm transitional farmhouse that we can enjoy with family and friends.

Hiring Pete Lugo for the design, consulting and site management is the best decision my wife and I ever made. Pete listened to our list of wants and desires for our home and we granted him full discretion to design our dream home. Boy, was that the right decision. Pete exceeded our expectations when he presented us with the final design. I am a firm believer in working with people that specialize in their field and Pete is no exception. Pete has a gift when it comes to vision, design and making decisions about what works and what doesn't work...and quickly. We were told by friends that building a home from scratch is very stressful because you must make a decision for every single element that goes into the home. Tara and I acknowledged and agreed up front that we are not experts at design, nor do we know what works together and what doesn't. So, we agreed that we would let Pete make virtually all of the design and field decisions. In fact, we made a deal that if we didn't agree on something about the house, then Pete's decision would overrule. Needless to say, my wife and I are still happily married and PL residential design was the best money we ever spent on building our home.

I hired PL Design to design a house for me after touring another house they had designed. We had very specific desires in mind for our home and I was floored to see that Pete understood us and brought us a fabulous design right from the start. We only had a few minor changes from his original drawing. Pete was easy to work with and very accessible, whether is was 7:00 in the morning or 9:00 at night he would answer an email or text almost immediately. We are now nearing the end of construction of our home and my favorite part has to be the look on everyone's face when they tour our home and see it's unique and amazing design. Pete Lugo, working with Kinetic Partners, used his creative architectural expertise to design a warm yet contemporary Italian farmhouse for us by carefully listening to our ideas and thoughts, which were totally unique to the traditional Tuscan style. We met once and provided pictures and ideas of floor plans and he listened carefully to ensure we incorporated our personal needs and desired. Although the we expected the process to take quite some time, we were shocked when he came back the first time with an architectural plan of our dreams. He was open to new materials and concepts, varying ceiling heighths, and ensuring the plan would allow us to live comfortsbly, including grandchildren and dogs!
