Near West Cabinets

Near West Cabinets (Evan) is terrific to work with! He has a great design sense and keen attention to detail. Evan worked with me on living room cabinetry and a mantel for our 1920's bungalow. The project turned out great. Part of the successful approach is the design phase where the details are carefully considered. You have an opportunity to make adjustments during this phase and also have a clear idea of what the final piece will look like. We plan on working with him on a piece for the dining room next :)

Could not be happier with Evan from Near West. Did an amazing job on our kitchen renovation for our home. We began by working with an architect named Ethan and his firm Drafting Cafe. He did kitchen drawings for us to get us through the Piedmont permit process. Phenomenal job from start to finish. Ethan informed us that his brother Evan was a cabinet maker and that he would add in elevations and a more detailed kitchen design so that Evan could do an estimate for us. His estimates came in at or below two other bids -- we figured that this super-skilled "brother" team was the way to go and contracted with Near West. What an awesome decision. Evan answered all of our questions on design in a professional and timely fashion. Very responsive over email, which with our busy schedules was key. Uses computers and the latest software for design, no old fashioned pencil drawings. Cabinets built and delivered exactly on the day he promised. We now have beautiful modern cabinets, high gloss white with a matching reading bench/nook. The island is walnut with a 9 foot quartz countertop and seating for 5. As a super bonus, Evan saved the day and fit in a custom vanity for our guest bathroom on an extremely tight timeline (A grumpy different cabinet maker we had mistakenly signed for our bathrooms deserted us half way through their part - Yelp review to come...). Evan's hanging bathroom vanity also looks amazing, perfectly matching the 3D-rendering he designed. Could go on and on. I can't imagine a better decision than to go with Drafting Cafe and Near West Cabinets for any residential renovation project. I will post some pictures once the renovation is complete.

I hired Evan Andersen as part of my remodeling team after seeing Evan's work at another home. Evan built custom cabinets for our European style kitchen and three bathrooms in a high-end remodel in Pacific Heights in San Francisco. His estimates were reasonable for the high quality of the work and all of his delivery timing commitments were met. Evan has been super professional throughout the process from planning to execution and final adjustments. Evan worked very well with the Architecht, the General Contractor and other suppliers such as the counter tops supplier. Most importantly, Evan listened to what we wanted and proposed the designs, layout, and materials that were appropriate for us. We are very happy with the quality and esthetics of the resulting cabinets. It will be our pleasure to work with Evan again in the future.

We first contracted Near West Cabinets to make three closets. Our goal was to have the closets integrated into the wall with a very modern clean look such that they would blend in and have no handles sticking out. Each closet was different inside, one had large wall drawers, another had a pull-out rack for pants, and all had shelves and hanging rods for different purposes. The manufacturing and installation were flawless and completed within the promised time. Our next project was the manufacturing of a modern and elegant walnut table which was custom designed to our needs and taste. Again we were very satisfied with both the timing and the final product. We are now in the middle of our third project which involves a cabinet, another closet similar to the one we ordered before but in a different finish, and possibly the design and making of a special threshold divide to be placed between two rooms. Overall we are very satisfied with the attention we get, the quality, installation, and the delivery time.

We have hired Near West Cabinets many times over the past few years. They are our first choice, when it comes to design and installation as they consistently combine the highest quality of workmanship, with the greatest attention to detail. Our home is a traditional 1900's Victorian. Evan found just the right balance on our last project, giving it an updated modern feel, while blending it seamlessly with the older characteristics of the house. Each project has been completed on time and within budget. We will be rehiring Near West for our next project and would highly recommend them.

I hired Evan a couple of years ago for a small kitchen cabinetry job that was simple and modern - he executed it perfectly for a very reasonable price and it became the centerpiece of the kitchen in my San Francisco rental unit. My partner and I contracted with him last year for fabrication and installation of cabinetry in two bathrooms and a wall of closets in the master bedroom at our Sonoma County home. The basic design was modern - unforgiving of anything less than excellent craftsmanship - and lacked construction details. Evan prepared shop drawings, resolved some tricky design challenges and interfaced easily with our construction contractor. He cheerfully addressed and corrected a couple of minor "nit-picky" items and completed the project to our total satisfaction. The finished cabinetry is remarkable in its finely crafted simplicity utilizing carefully selected/book-matched vertical grain fir. Evan's fine sense of design, problem solving skills, pleasant/agreeable nature and reliability make working with him a pleasure. He's professional and a truly nice guy - I highly recommend him. Evan Andersen is a craftsman of the highest order--a type I didn't think existed these days. My home office was complex. Besides vast counter space, my work projects demand a variety of cabinets sized to fit the room and to house specific projects and materials. Lots of them. To top it off--I wanted ELEGANCE. This craftsman is an excellent listener who articulated a vision to match my needs. We quickly agreed on finer points, then he executed a beautifully constructed system of cabinetry and workspace. Drawers slide open with a whisper, cupboard doors fit beautifully, the maple counter tops are a smooth expanse of gorgeous wood. Frankly, I didn't think I would find this level of quality for twice the price.
