SAWN Custom Woodwork

We spent $250k on Nathan. There is no doubt that he has an amazing eye for wood work, does amazing work (when he completes it), and his attention to detail is spectacular. Unfortunately, not only did he not finish the project (which was his biggest project to date), but he went awol and left us with a number of unfinished parts. His attention to timelines is non-existent, unfortunately. 60% of the project he did to expectations and was amazing. 20% was not as advertised and I wanted changes to reflect what he promised, but he didn’t want to make the changes. 20% wasn’t delivered - which he got paid for - but never delivered. We tried to repeatedly contact him directly and through our designer, but to no avail. Unfortunately the only recourse (which doesn’t serve anyone well) is potentially legal. This review is meant to help advise potential clients to make sure that the projects they engage with him are the size that he can do, and also to ensure that he delivers on the project BEFORE paying him.

Nathan and Neela are an awesome team. They did 2 projects for me so far and I'm expecting to do more with them in the future. They have great design sensibilities which really shows in their work. Tremendous attention to details and they do a great job finding really high quality materials to work with. I was very happy with how they listened to what I was hoping to achieve while bringing their own ideas to the table as well. It was a perfect collaboration. Can't wait to get the next project started with them.

Our project with SAWN Custom Woodwork could not have gone more smoothly. Nathan is a true craftsman and we will absolutely use him for future projects. Neela's design was tailored to our family's specific needs for storage and we are SO HAPPY with the results. They took an empty wall of our entryway and transformed it into a discreet yet contemporary wall of super functional storage. We wanted the function of a mudroom without the look of one and that is exactly what we got! They were professional and easy to work with. Highly recommend.

I had a great experience working with Nathan and Neela (and Hunter). They installed a TV/bulit-in cabinet unit for us in our new home. The workmanship was great and every step of the way, SAWN was absolutely professional, while at the same time so very nice and down to earth. An absolute pleasure to work with. I hired SAWN for a wood paneling project for my home. I had a strong vision of what I wanted but wasn't sure I'd be able to find someone to execute it correctly. A previous woodworker who had been recommended to me by a general contractor pulled out of the project due to its complexity. Nathan and his crew ended up exceeding my expectations. The clean lines and continuity of grain are as close to perfect as you can get working with wood. As I mentioned, the project was very complicated and required a lot of skill to make precise measurements so panels lined up perfectly across large expanses of uneven walls with a continuous line of brass between each and to make the color of the wood even across multiple panels. The result is beautiful and has a really luxurious look. I highly recommend SAWN for custom woodwork. The whole team–Nathan, Neela and Hunter– are professional, friendly and, most importantly, perfectionists. Their high level of craftsmanship and their respectful unobtrusiveness while working in your home is worth every penny.

As a general contractor I value the prompt responses with estimates, changes & most importantly timely delivery and installation of the casework.
