プロフィール

MYKA interior design group llc brings together two highly experienced designers who have been working in the architecture and interior design field for over 15 years. As graduate students they met at Cal Poly Pomona while each seeking their Masters Degree in Architecture. Upon that accomplishment, they pursued different but similar paths in the design industry. One moved to San Francisco to practice architecture, while the other stayed and grew her design career in the Los Angeles region. In a twist of fate, both ended up in San Diego and set in motion the long talked about partnership. Myriem Drainer & Kathy Galipeau (Co-Founders of MYKAidg) have extensive architectural, interior design and business backgrounds which make this new found partnership unique in the industry. Also unique, MYKAidg offers multi-lingual and multi-cultural design services for clients in English, French and Arabic languages.

Myriem is fabulous! I was at the tail-end of planning a substantial remodel at our home, which included the removal of a major structural wall, an entire new kitchen, and updating the family/living/dining rooms. Prior to pulling the trigger (or having the GC swing the hammer), I decided to call in a professional to review my floor plan, layout, and material selections. Myriem was immediately open to meeting with me, and my consultation with her proved very valuable. She "got" my style right away, and gave me confidence to move forward. She is friendly, educated and professional, and has an eye for design. I highly recommend her to anyone needing a lead designer or even a consultation on a home project.

I had the privilege of photographing a recent project for MYKA IDG. Myriem and Kathy were both very wonderful to work with. They had very good communication throughout the entire process and they were clear about their goals for the shoot. They are very knowledgeable and they did a wonderful job designing the space that I photographed. On the day of the shoot, we worked nicely together. They gave me their input and we were able to get the shots and angles they were looking for. I would highly recommend them.

I hired Myriem and had a great experience in getting our Living area re-designed. She worked with my timeline and budget and went beyond to finish the project.

I worked with Kathy Galipeau 8 years ago. Kathy designed my kitchen and dining room. I gave Kathy pictures of how I would like to have the kitchen designed, especially on the island, and she came back with 6 different designs for me to review. Kathy also designed the wall to wall buffet we requested. I am planing to use Kathy when I am ready to upgrade my bathrooms. Working with Kathy was a great experience. She listen to my ideas, as well as bringing her thoughts to the table, that I would use when the remolding began on my kitchen and dining area.

A couple of the main considerations about hiring a designer is their ability to communicate clearly and to be honest in estimates of cost and time. Kathy is a consummate professional in these regards and her design sense exquisite. She's very knowledgeable about styles and always shows an understanding of a wide range of tastes. Our strongest goal was to give our offices the feel and appearance consistent with the unique style of our restaurant chain. Not only did MYKA achieve this, they were able to help with a complete redesign of one of our restaurants, to give it a modern appeal while keeping the original feel of casual warmth we've always maintained. We were very pleased with MYKA's work because they showed not only design aesthetics but an ability to see our goals for our business.
