Mark built a home for us in Northbrook in 2008 and we had a great experience. We are now working with him on a new home in Lake Forest. He is a pleasure to work with and listens to both me and my wife to make sure all opinions are heard and that the best result is achieved.

The reason we loved working with Mark was his unique creativity. The level of beautiful detail in our house is astounding. Not one house that Mark has built is the same. Truly a custom built experience. Thank you for helping out!

Building a new home is stressful no matter what. It takes longer and costs more than you expect, no matter who you use. But at the end of the day, you want the home of your dreams. Mark delivers that. It wasn't easy, but every day I thank my lucky stars we went with Mark because we got the home we wanted. Other builders quoted us a lot more than Mark and we would have got a lot less. We went over budget, like most will, but we got way more house, a more beautiful house, and it was still less than the bids we received from others. We have a 60 year old house and love the location, so we decided to completely remodel it to make it a new home (see the before and after pictures attached). So many remodels look like an old house with a new section attached to the back. I thought that's what we'd end up with. Thanks to Mark, our house looks brand new, inside and out. We still get people telling us they are amazed it's a remodel and give us big compliments. Mark has a lot of beautiful new homes (from the ground up) in the neighborhood, our was one of his few remodels, but it looks brand new and will definitely help the resale value. Mark does more than just build according to your plans, he brings great design ideas that you never would have thought about. I love our home, thanks Mark!

Complex design and construction of a Tuscan style farm house. As the owner, I was very involved in the details of construction, which may have driven most other builders crazy. M. W. Carlson, LTD worked closely with me to address my requirements. They (all their team) contributed valuable ideas and executed the construction with quality. We are extremely happy with our house.

We hired Mark to help us design and build our house and he did a wonderful job. He has a great eye for architectural detail and had lots of good design suggestions along the way. His subcontractors are also wonderful and he did a great job of keeping the project on track and on budget (with the exception of changes to the budget that we made along the way). We hired Mark as a result of his strong reputation and the quality of his work. We also liked that Mark charged a flat project fee instead of a percentage-based fee (which many others charge), which can create misaligned incentives for a GC to mark up the costs and push up the price. We have lived in our home for almost five years and we have had almost no issues, and when issues arose during the warranty period Mark was quick to respond. He did a great job!

DO NOT use this guy! Does not know what he is doing. He will rip you off. He is a great salesman for his work, but does not have the professionalism to get the job done according to timelines, budgets and codes.

We have worked with M.W. Carlson, Ltd. for several years. They are an excellent custom home builder that specialize in tear downs in popular suburban neighborhoods, like Northbrook, Glenview and Deerfield, IL. Their remodeling projects also have a charm that homeowners love. They are committed to their clients' satisfaction and their work shows it. We work with them on their kitchen design and cabinetry for the entire home. Their stylish homes are charming and abound with many beautiful details.

We had to be in our 1950's ranch home within three months. It needed to be gutted; new kitchen, baths, all new windows, new floors, woodwork, etc. We were beside ourselves as it seemed like an impossible task until a friend told us about Carlson Construction. After we met, we felt very relieved. They made it all happen within our time frame and truly did a superb job. The quality of work was excellent. They were very receptive to our needs but also pointed out how to make the design better. Holly helped me with stains, woodwork, light fixtures, kitchen and bath design and was key to making this overwhelming endeavor fun instead of stressful. We highly recommend Carlson Construction.

We are working with MW Carlson for the second time. We are currently in the process of building a custom home and did a large renovation on our previous home, both with the help of M W Carlson. Our experience working with M W Carlson has been exceptional! Our projects have been beyond our dreams, in thanks to Mark and Holly. Without their remarkable expertise, design sense, and vision for the finished spaces, we would not have the beautiful homes that we do. Mark and Holly bring a lot more to the table than any builder we have ever encountered. Both of our projects have been on budget and within our expected timelines. We appreciate the great support, communication, and follow through that is the standard at M W Carlson. Building a new home with M W Carlson has been such a fun and enjoyable experience for us!
