Mirror Lake Design did a great job on our landscape project. We moved to a new home this year and were challenged with a totally unlandscaped backyard and HOA constraints. Shawn, Bridget and their entire team were extremely helpful throughout the entire process. From the initial consultation, the quoting process, the interface with our HOA and permit requirements, the installation and all the follow up, Mirror Lake Design exceeded our expectations. In our initial consultation we shared with Shawn our budget and how we wanted to live in our backyard. He designed two exciting options and helped us choose the right hard scape and trees/plants that fit our needs. Once we chose our option Mirror Lake Design contacted our HOA and arranged permits. All hassle free for us. His construction and landscape team were very professional, courteous and helpful. All work was done in timely fashion and our yard looked immaculate each time the team was finished for the day. Shawn personally came out each time a major portion of work was completed or if we had additional questions. Shawn and Bridget were so helpful and were so patient with all of our many follow up questions. We really can’t say enough about our positive experience with Mirror Lake Design.

We recently met with Shawn Kelly to come up with a design for our small backyard. We wanted a New Orleans style courtyard feel to it, and he came up with a fantastic design. Our budget was limited, so we couldn't build out the entire design, but we did complete most of the hardscape that he had included in the design. The hardscape portion of the design was completed, and you wouldn't even know that we didn't complete the rest of the work. We can easily scab onto the features in the future without the current work appearing unfinished. As an engineer, I was little hesitant of contracting for the work because other than drawings, there weren't a whole lot of specifications. After talking through the project with Shawn, we became comfortable with him due to his years of experience and we're so glad we did. Shawn did everything he said he would do and then some. When he realized the drainage portion of the work was going to entail less than he had presumed, he volunteered (I did not request) to drop the costs for that portion of the work. He also put in a lot of new sod over heavily trafficked areas that was not part of the project. His crews were very competent, experienced, hard workers with a great attitude. They always cleaned up the work site at the end of each day and seemed to take a lot of personal pride in the quality of their work. Thanks Shawn, Richard, Blinda and all the hands for an outstanding job!

I could not recommend this company enough! They are extremely professional, and even though my back yard dreams were minor (compared to what they normally do) they still treated me as though I was their only client! They did charge for their designs, but their quality cannot be out done. They aren’t perfect, but unlike any other company out there.. they always went out of their way to make things right with us. I can’t wait to do our front yard! Totally worth every penny!

Unless you want to spend over 80 k don’t even bother to call. He took my 2k and wanted over 100k for a small backyard pool. He gave me an artist design not build blueprint and when I did not hire him he kept my 2k. So I spent 2k for a nice picture. My experience is that he is very intimidating and doesn’t listen to what you want. I would highly discourage hiring this outfit.

When I met with the homeowner at her golf course lot she explained her goal of creating an outdoor living area. Before collecting our design fee, I explained to her that the cost of building this project would be higher because the houses on her street were so close together we could not get excavating equipment behind her house from the street. The only access to her backyard was trecking over 300 feet through the golf course.

We would have to get permission from the course owner (for a price), pay an additional amount to the excavation company, and then repair all the damage which would include sprinkler repair, grading and sod for an area about 12 feet wide and over 300 feet long. We would also have to repair a sidewalk which would surely crack with the weight of a fully loaded dump truck.

Ms. Russell seemed to love the design but not the price and yes, it was over $100,000. She asked how to get the price lower (although she would not say what price she was hoping to see) and we showed how we could reduce some of the walls and pavers a bit, but the price did not come down low enough for her budget. She asked if we could just build a pool without fountains and walls, less patio, less planting and lighting. My response was yes we could but that, but she would not be receiving the type of living area she was imagining when she called us – that it would just be a tiny pool without any of the characteristics we have built our reputation upon over all the years. She was unhappy and I suggested another alternative. I said that if we designed a water feature with planters, lighting, lush plantings, and patio she could have an exquisite, beautiful, livable garden at a significantly lower price since the cost of the pool and golf course repair would not be involved. And that new design would NOT be at any additional cost. She rejected that idea also and decided that since we could not build our design for her unspecified price that Mirror Lake was at fault.

Architectural landscaping at its best. Shawn and his group did an outstanding job of designing a plan that incorporated our ideas in style and the backyard living space. Shawn redid our pool, added a beautiful double level pergola, pavers and backyard walls, all of highest quality and workmanship. We choose a tropical theme and the tropicals he chose are outstanding. We have used Mirror Lake over the years to add to our plan and they have always exceeded our expectations.

Shawn Kelly and company at Mirror Lake Designs is the only company that I use to make the outside of my home a paradise. I have used them multiple times at two houses and everything has always turned out better than I could have expected. When I sold my last home it was the backyard pool, outdoor kitchen, and landscaping that made the home sell quickly for top dollar. I continue to use them because I know the quality of the work is always top notch. If there is a problem Shawn and/or Belinda are on it immediately to make it right. Mirror Lake is the only landscape/ pool design company that I recommend.

To the person looking for their dream pool and yard, your search should end with Mirror Lake Designs. We talked to several “pool” companies trying to decide how to transform our small bare grass yard into something that complimented our home. We struggled and just couldn’t find the fit we were looking for. I remembered this company, Mirror Lake Designs, knowing it had been around for several years (30+). We went to their office and were amazed because it reminded us of a botanical garden and like no other “pool company” you’ll ever visit. It’s that garden atmosphere that tells you there’s something different going on. Mirror Lake is a full service landscape design company. A one stop for everything store. Your pool and yard are designed by Shawn Kelly, a landscape architect. The competition pool companies you’ll speak too are using very nice people who may have very well sold shoes for a living last month but now their sitting in your home giving you advice and trying to sell you on their ideas of what a pool should be. Mirror Lake transformed our yard into a beautiful and stunning oasis. We couldn’t be happier! Our little plain grass yard now has bright beautiful trees, flowers, shrubs sitting in four different flower beds, two separate covered sitting areas, amazing pool, and huge hot tub! Words do it no justice! Thanks to the incredible Mirror Lake Design team led by owners Shawn and Blinda Kelly.

Mirror Lake Designs finished my pool project a couple of weeks ago. For me, the client, the process was seamless. Shawn designed a landscaping project last year for the backyard that was beautiful. But, I experienced my first Houston summer (I'm a native Coloradan) and knew I HAD to have a pool! The landscaping was taken out, pool put in, and then the landscaping was put in again. Everyone, from Mirror Lake Designs that worked on my project , was wonderful. Shawn, Blinda, Richard, Lee, Lizzy, Michelle, Bill, Kim, Tim, and everyone else were so professional and considerate. I will certainly use Mirror Lake Designs again for any other landscape project!

We had Mirror Lake design and install both a courtyard as well as a full backyard. The cost initially seemed high but when you take into account what all you're getting (not to mention the finished product). It's quite worth it. Shawn doesn't always talk about the things you don't see. What you see - you get a award winning designer that does a professional layout customized to your taste (as robust as you want to get). The team doing the installs are artists, the paver work they did was amazing, the waterfall and fountain "epic", the lush plants intelligently placed, the finished product is truly award winning and amazing. We went from having grass to something you'd expect to see in better homes and gardens or architectural digest. The stuff you don't see: First, they send over their guy with survey equipment to take exact elevation measurements of your yard to identify high and low spots, Full french drains in the area Top of the line LED lighting, Custom irrigation The level of expertise his team has in deploying the project really needs a second mention, his guys are professional, talented and courteous. We are thrilled with the work that was done and the support so far that they've given us with minor things that have cropped up.

My husband and I had been through the pool build process before but, this time, we wanted a different approach. We are now in a house that has a small yard so we wanted to hire someone who could utilize the space, as well as make it flow. Mirror Lake did just that! Shawn provided us with an architectural drawing of a completely redesigned backyard space that we fell in love with. With the addition of a pool, that is in scale to the size of our yard, restructured irrigation system, extended patio (pavers with brick inserts), seating wall and an extensive amount of beds, we have been given that courtyard feel we absolutely love! I always tell folks that we are, literally, drawn to our backyard, and I now know what it means when Shawn says "outdoor living space." Besides the end results, I have to mention that the crews that came out were professional and courteous. They were always good about cleaning up at the end of the work day. If you don't want the run around of finding the pool guys, the landscape guys, the irrigation guy, the lighting guy, etc., then give Mirror Lake a call!

Our backyard is absolutely magnificient! Shawn Kelley, owner of Mirror Lake, is a genius at design and a perfectionist with construction. He is trustworthy and a delight to work with. Shawn and his wife, Blinda, as well as the rest of the staff, are genuine in their desire to create a wonderful atmosphere Every detail is thoroughly thought out and executed. When a problem arises, Shawn approaches it as a challenge and solves it in the most thorough and professional way that he can. Even after the project is completed, they are very diligent and conscientious in solving any problems that may arise later. We had a very enjoyable experience with this amazing company.

A Professional, First Class Operations is how I would start to describe Mirror Lake Designs. After many years of trepidation, my wife and I along with our children, decided that we needed to jazz up our backyard, a makeover so to speak. Our wish list included an in-ground pool, spa and fire pit along with the landscaping and lighting to compliment this backyard dream of ours. My wife, for many years, listened to Shawn and Blinda Kelly of Mirror Lake Designs and their early morning radio show on Saturdays and Sundays. We arranged to meet with Shawn and Blinda Kelly, and after our first meeting my wife and I knew they were the people that we could trust and rely on to give us that backyard oasis. What impressed me most about the vision they had for our yard, was it all centered around the "family". To develop a space where the family can have fun and spend quality time together. Each step of this makeover was completed to the highest of standards. All of the crews involved were on time, very courteous and great about tidying up. I would not hesitate in the least to recommend Mirror Lake Designs to many of my friends and neighbors. Our backyard, a space that for so many years went unused, has now become a place where we can relax and spend quality time with our family and friends.

We hired Shawn at Mirror Lake to do our backyard landscaping/pool project. We live in a neighborhood where the houses are very close together, so we told him we wanted privacy and our own little garden of Eden. We turned the whole project over to Shawn with complete confidence. He used his years of expertise and creativity to create a backyard with beautiful plants and flowers, and a pool that more than met our expectations, a relaxing oasis. He is a true artist in his field of work and a perfectionist in every detail of the finished project. Also, his work crew are some of the nicest and most professional people we have ever met. We are repeat customers. Mirror Lake did an awesome job designing the backyard at our last home which was very child oriented. My son loved the pond, waterfall & rock climbing hill and there was plenty of comfortable space for adults too. Mirror Lake has done it again at our new home where we are empty nesters. Our new home has an odd shaped back / side yard with a restrictive easement, but Shawn saw past the obstacles and delivered a design that functions beautifully for our new life style. I love the beauty and functionality and my husband (the engineer) was impressed with the quality of materials and impressive workmanship during the installation. We not only have a truly livable space but great views from inside as well. My only advise is to listen to Shawn! At first we didn't want a spa with our pool but after discussing with Shawn we decided to go for it. We love the spa and use it even more than the pool. Listen to the professional.......

Mirror Lake did an outstanding job in designing and installing our dream backyard. When Shawn first came out, he listened to what we wanted and then with his expert design ability and our input he came up with what we consider our perfect backyard. Many friends have told us it looks and feels like a resort. We agree, it is a place where we can escape the day and relax. The job consisted of a pool, landscape, nightscape, and a sprinkler system. All done professionally and on time and on budget. Mirror Lake provided us a colored drawing so we could visualize the completed project. Next we got a working drawing and were told how it would all go together step by step. Mirror Lake did exactly what they said and the project was completed without a hitch--unbelievable---what a company!! We have continued to enjoy our "resort" 10 years after completion and look forward to many more years of relaxation and fun. As a matter of fact, they did such an outstanding job, we hired them back last year to do the front yard. Thank you Mirror Lake!!!!
