We have built a home with Acker Builders twice now and we've had a great experience both times. The team works diligently to understand your needs and implement it to the best of their abilities based on budget and technical requirements. Now, with buliding, you always run into issues along the way but it's how the team handles the issues that determine the success of the project. The Acker team has had so many years of experience that they are very knowledgable in helping find solutions to problems that arise.

Acker helped us through the building process. From the very first time that we met with Jenny Acker to talk about our “dream list” until the final time that we walked through the dream home and got our keys, we were absolutely impressed through every step of the process. People often say that the building process can be stressful…we would argue that building with Acker builders was exciting, honest, and entirely manageable (and fun). We think it’s important to stress the word “honest.” We’ve built two other times, and in both situations it was clear that the responses that we got from the builder were always what were in their best interest, the response that guaranteed more income in their pockets. With Acker, it was about our “dream list” and making it come to fruition for us. For example, when we walked into our daughter’s room and the built-in shelves weren’t exactly the way we talked about them being, Acker immediately said they aren’t right and had them re-done. A similar situation on the front porch pillars – too dark of a stain color was used, and they immediately ordered all new cedar to correct to the way we envisioned. Most builders would justify the reasoning that these things were done – Acker is honest and knew exactly what the vision in our head was…because they listened. No building project will go without hiccups….those two minor things were probably the most stressful part of our process. Acker also was responsive to every change that we requested, and more importantly, every question that we asked. In the end, it was a completely customized home that was created as a partnership between us and their team of engineers and designers. And maybe most importantly, the reason that we chose Acker is because of what we can expect in the years to come. Many of our friends live in Acker Homes and are in awe over their continued responsiveness to minor questions in the home, even beyond the one-year home warranty.

We have worked with Acker Builders for the last several years. They are great to work with and build excellent quality homes. They care about their customers and are a well-organized, family owned and operated business.

Acker Builders knows what they're doing, and they do it extremely well. If you're thinking about builders in/around Waunakee, look no further! Even before this review, I've already recommended Acker to friends who are thinking about building and/or who asked about my building experience. My review will be lengthy, so I will divide it into sections. BUILDING EXPERIENCE: Our experience with Acker Builders began in summer 2014. My husband and I went to the Madison Parade of Homes at Kilkenny Farms and toured Acker Builders' parade home as well as several other builders' parade homes. After the parade, I sent an email inquiry to Acker Builders. Jenny Acker was very thorough in her response, and we set up a meeting. She was also very professional and detailed during our initial in-person consultation, and we were impressed, so we moved forward! Jenny and all of the staff at Acker Builders were wonderful during the building process. If we had questions, concerns, changes, or just some thoughts/brainstorming, we were able to very easily contact someone at Acker Builders and get an answer quickly. The "door was always open" when it came to contacting Acker Builders. I actually felt like my husband and I were the one and only clients of Acker Builders; we knew this was not the case — they just treat clients extremely well! We worked with Acker Builders' interior designer Jennie Herbrand with our selections for exterior stone, garage door styles, cabinets and counters, flooring and carpeting, lighting fixtures, and the list goes on. Jennie was full of suggestions and information, and we now have an incredibly beautiful home with transitional decor, thanks to her! POST-BUILDING EXPERIENCE: Acker Builders does not "disappear" after the home is finished. During our first week at home, for example, we noticed some water on the floor by our washing machine on a Thursday night. Friday morning at 7:00 a.m., Joey was at our house, ready to fix the problem. The open communication is still there with Acker Builders even after the client moves in and the home is finished. "WORD ON THE STREET": At our initial meeting, Acker Builders gave us a list of references with about 10-12 homeowners. Instead of contacting those references, we drove around various neighborhoods where we knew Acker Builders had built homes. We found people walking their dogs or doing yardwork and struck up conversations with them about builders in/around the Waunakee area. Out of all of these homeowners/complete strangers we talked to about their homes and/or what they knew about local builders, every single one of them had positive things to say about Acker Builders. SUMMARY: As stated earlier, throughout the whole process, we've had a great experience with Acker Builders. Acker Builders is really on the ball and have their ducks in a row. We are very happy with our home, and we had a great experience working with Acker Builders. When you choose Acker Builders, you won't regret your decision!

We built our home with Acker in 2013. They were easy to work with and focused on customer satisfaction. They have a 10 year warranty on their homes, and when we have minor repair issues they are prompt to fix.

We built our home through Acker Builders and can't say enough positive things about the company. From their customer service to the quality of work, our family was always pleased. We've been in our house for a couple of months now and love it more every day! Highly recommend Acker!

Acker Builders build beautiful custom homes. I designed and installed custom window coverings and blinds for a new construction. Their quality is incredible and attention to detail is high on their priority list. It's obvious to see why they're a clear choice for anyone wanting to build their own home.
