We converted a 1,000 sq.ft. office that was no longer in use into a guest house. We hired MCB Interiors to guide us with the transformation of the space, which included converting a closet into a full bathroom, converting offices into bedrooms and updating a rudimentary break-room into a full kitchen. Ms. Buendia was instrumental in deciding all necessary structural changes and then selecting materials, finishes, color scheme and some furnishings. We later learned that her training overseas as an architect was far more extensive than in the US. Not only is she versed in architectural work, she is also trained as an interior designer! It was a bonus to have the skills of two professions rolled into one person. It provided a seamless transition from one need to the next without adding more people, time and expense to our project. However, what we valued and appreciated above all was her absolute dedication to making sure we were thrilled with the end result. She is a great listener who makes tireless efforts to understand a client's point of view, aesthetic and budget, and enthusiastically presents options until the right choice is at hand. She worked through every stage respecting that it was our home and that her success would come in helping us to clarify and implement our wishes, not hers. Although her Spanish accent was a distraction in the beginning and it took a little time to get used to it, we were so glad we did! It was very well worth stepping outside of our comfort zone and choosing to work with a non-native English speaker. Her life experience and travels provided a greater depth to her repertoire of options and ideas. Her skills and knowledge in design and architecture are universal and her accent became irrelevant in no time. We will definitely hire her again if another construction or design project arises!

I loved working with Maria-Clara from MCB. As soon as she arrived, she was able to make sensible suggestions for changes, and we proceeded to re-arrange the furniture right then and there. In a couple of hours, the flow between the kitchen, the eat-in area, a sitting area and the family room was greatly improved. The same furniture, arranged differently, what a difference! She also advised me on some fabric changes for my living room sofa & chairs. She was awesome, and I did use her again to help with selecting some lighting fixtures to update this room. She was able to help me schedule an installer as well. All and all , she is awesome!

Hired Maria as an interior designer. Received exceptional results. Maria is professional, detailed oriented, passionate, and will work towards anyone's taste. She will not shy away to create beautiful things even though it means thinking outside the box. All the right qualities every employer or client would want. We hired Maria Clara during pre-construction as our Interior Architect when we purchased our 4 thousand square foot apartment. She did all the interior design for the spaces including kitchen, bathrooms, all millwork and finish selection. She also did the decoration, including furniture, window treatments, paint selection and wall coverings. Maria Clara is detailed oriented, very organized, we had a great experience with her because she really listened to us and designed spaces that feel up to date and contemporary, as well as practical and well thought out. More than twenty years later we have not changed her original design, we still live in the same space as Maria Clara designed it.
