We have worked with Martha Berndt Design Studio on many projects over the last 20 years. Martha is unique in the industry because of her architectural drafting skills as well as her strength in interior design. Martha puts together a complete, accurate and detailed package including specifications, design details and well drafted drawings. Martha does a great job understanding the client's budgetary requirements and is thoughtful working within these considerations. 5+ stars! Had I been asked to rate between 1 and 100, with 100 being the highest, I would have given Martha a 100 rating!! My husband and I found Martha to be truly amazing and we feel incredibly fortunate to have had her working alongside us on our major remodel of our home. Some of her attributes are these: Martha is on-time for her meetings! Martha comes prepared, always! Martha listens to your likes & dislikes! Martha is warm and welcoming! Martha is a professional; her drawings are clearly delineated! Martha is artistic and talented! Remodeling is an expensive undertaking and can be stressful--a professional designer will help you make the decisions that you will be happy with for years to come. We highly recommend Martha Berndt to help you with your remodel or the design of your new home.

Martha provided color design services for the exterior of a historic office building built in the 1890's. She did exhaustive research on the original color scheme for the building and developed a modern color palette that is modern and still honors the original design. The results were amazing!

We believe that Martha Brendt is the consummate professional architect. The best recommendation concerning a professional is, “would you use them again?”. The answer is a resounding, YES. Martha shines no mater the size of the project. We have partnered with Martha on an entire house, a one-room summer cabin floating on a river and the renovation of “tight spaces” (a kitchen, bath and closet) in an older house. Martha is technically proficient but as important, she listens and develops a partnership with her clients. In our case we have become friends.

I highly recommend Martha for major remodels or new construction. We wanted to add a second story to our house. My dream was to have rounded roofs and a 45 degree facing our wetlands along with a covered porch. I also wanted it to be eclectic and showed her pictures of a hobbit house I had loved as a child. We met with a footprint of existing house and discussed my dreams. Her vision was beyond anything I had dreamed of. Instead of a covered porch, she designed a cover deck for Oregon’s rainy weather. The large windows facing the wetlands is joy for us and she incorporated 4 round dormers, with a gable for the wetlands.

We hired Martha to do a complete interior redesign of our just purchased single story, 50+ year old classic home. We knew what we wanted, (walk in closet, opulent bathroom, another bedroom, etc.), but had no idea how that could ever work within the confines of the existing exterior walls. Well, Martha was simply amazing. She created an 1,100 sq ft master bedroom suite, complete with a large walk-in closet and a bathroom to die for, and even managed to add a bedroom. We were stunned. We also appreciated the little touches - like creating a coffered ceiling in the master bedroom where we previously had an 8 foot ceiling. We love our new spaces. From paint colors to flooring, Martha has such a wonderful sense of style and attention to detail. Lastly, as with any elongated project (ours was 6+ months) you want somebody who is easy to work with, readily available, and can work seamlessly with your builder. That’s Martha. We would give Martha our highest recommendation.
