Matthew Wolfenden Art

Matthew Wolfenden is a Novocastrian artist residing in Sydney who specialises in acrylic paints. Matt grew up in Merewether, Newcastle, and inherited his love of art from his father Brian, an artist and art teacher. Matt placed first in art at Newcastle High School in 1998 and has been consistently painting since his artwork “Mother of Curl” was selected for Art Express. Matt had his first solo exhibition ‘Sydney City Soul’ in June 2010 at the Arthouse Hotel in Sydney. The exhibition featured a collection of landscapes which depicted his love of Sydney, expressed through his signature hyper colourful style. In 2013 he collaborated with renowned landscape artist John Earle to capture the city of Newcastle. They painted over 50 paintings together and had an exhibition in October 2013. Matt has also exhibited at the Bounceback Exhibition and at Nanshe Studio Gallery. With over 500 paintings completed over the past 12 years, Matt continues to pursue his passion for creativity and art.
