Sarah Leathers

Marta & her team created a liveable outdoor patio space for our new construction home. From the initial concept sketches to the final furniture installation, the team was prompt, responsive, and clearly listened to what we wanted out of this new space. We went from a muddy construction zone to a stone patio & wooden decking haven -- perfect for small gatherings around the firepit in cooler months, but well equipped and expansive enough to entertain larger crowds in the summer months.

As a vendor working with Marta Mitchell Interior Design, I have been privy to meetings with clients and staff meetings as they brainstorm the details of their client's homes. What has impressed me is the manner in which Marta and her team, truly listen to their clients, making notes on their likes, dislikes, as well as paying special attention to how their clients live. Many designers can create beautiful spaces, but if they are not functional for the clients living in them, then all that beauty is a waste, so Marta and her team make sure that form and function are always intertwined. Again, I am a vendor to the team, so I have a inside view to their "behind the scenes" talks. They are always so respectful of their clients. They are constantly reflecting on their client's wants and needs, "what would they think, how would they use this, and do we think this is the best use of the space? Additionally, I respect how Marta and the team guide their clients thru the process, showing them how good quality and carefully thought out design is an investment, that pays out dividends with years of use and enjoyment. Unique, creative, personalized spaces that read to their clients lifestyle in a way in which they had only imagined they would be, are intrinsic qualities of every project Marta Mitchell Interior Design is involved in.

We hired Marta during the architectural process of building our new home. She helped us review our first draft of the drawing and helped us make our vision a reality. She found some areas that would’ve been an annoyance (like doors opening into other doors or spaces that seemed functional but weren’t actually going to BE functional) and made the necessary changes. She also elevated the design of the exterior and the porches. We are so thrilled with what she did for us. I HIGHLY recommend them for this step of any build. It will save you money in potential changes during the building process. We then had her help during the entire building and designing process. Marta and Annelise helped make our house a home. When it was finished it was like we had lived here forever. It didn’t look like a new construction at all. Having them at our side during the long process of building made it a breeze and they took most of the stress away. They got our vision and worked on every detail with us. We NEVER would’ve been able to achieve this look without them. We’ve lived here for 4 months now and I still walk around in awe of every detail. Every part of our home is “us” and people are jaw dropped when they come see it for the first time. Hiring Marta and her team was the single best decision we made in the entire process. This is the design firm you want. You will not regret it!

MMID helped me with 2 bathroom projects. The master bath was gutted and another full bath received a major facelift. Marta and her team saved the day on the Master BR project. I came very close to signing a contract for a design my husband and I did not like. MMID listened to what was important to us and gave us several designs from which to choose. I was impressed with the creativity of the designs. Marta and her designers are energetic and full of good ideas! Ultimately, we decided on a design which placed the shower in front of the window, where we are able to get natural light with a cool design of frosted glass on the architectural block. We are so pleased with the bathroom design and with the storage closet, vanity, tile, fixtures, color and lighting that MMID selected (for both bathroom projects). Marta also helped reconfigure our bedroom and even found a new dresser for me. At the outset of the project, I asked Marta for contractor recommendations. JLand Construction was a terrific fit for our projects. Marta and her team are incredibly responsive, thorough and creative. They have great sources and contacts. I could not have completed this project and been as pleased with the result without MMID. Highly recommend!

Marta has helped me on a number of design projects of all sizes in our home during the twenty years that I have know her. She is unfailingly professional, attentive to detail, considerate, and always willing to listen to my questions and concerns. Marta works hard to incorporate into updated design projects those furnishings that can be repurposed or refreshed vs. pushing for more costly purchases. I am always pleased with the finished project but perhaps appreciate most the pleasant experience of working with Marta and her team.

Marta is a very talented and experienced interior designer who has earned our trust as we've followed her recommendations. We have especially appreciated her follow-through to get us "settled." She reviewed the furnishings we wanted to keep and use, suggested new pieces that fit the new spaces better, and she designed this beautiful decor that we are extremely proud of. We believe that you will be just as pleased to work with her as we have been.

My master bathroom remodel was my second experience working with Marta. Marta and her entire staff were very professional, very talented and loads of fun. I really looked forward to each of our meetings. The plans that Marta drew up were brilliant and clever and she had an excellent working relationship with our building contractor. Marta stayed within our budget and time frame and she made the decision making process very simple. I will certainly plan to work with Marta again on my next project!

Marta is not only a talented designer, but she is an expert at customer service. She listens to her customer needs to fully understand our likes, dislikes, wishes and functional requirements. She provides multiple options and really engages the whole family in the decision making process. We were also quite impressed with the technology that she uses to capture design ideas that helped us visualize the end result. She's innovative as well. Best of all, her entire team embodies the same spirit of creativity and results. The end result is beautiful.

Marta Mitchell and Annelise Tikkanen created my dream kitchen. I am over the moon! Both were very attentive to my style and my personality and created a beautiful kitchen that I will enjoy for many, many years.
