We have used Manhatta Architecture for our two NYC renovations - the first for the addition of a 2nd bathroom and laundry to our apartment, and currently, for the renovation of the existing bathroom and kitchen. In both instances Richard has been fantastic at navigating the complex city building requirements for us, as well as in recommending and helping to manage a great general contractor. He is easy to work with, and I particularly appreciate his flat rate charging, rather than expecting a % of the total job. I have recommended him to others, and would again.

Thorough and committed, Richard took us through the renovation process step by step w great consideration for our needs and the needs of our family. I would heartily recommend him to anyone. We recently completed a vertical condo combination project with Manhatta in Fall, 2013. Of all of the professionals we engaged on this project from financing through purchase and construction, Richard was consistently the most reliable and fastest, most detailed communicator. He provided insightful suggestions and design ideas to get the most out of our space (total approx 1,350sf over three floors). The relationship with Richard began prior to buying the upstairs apartment with a feasibility study to see that the project was both possible given the layout of the building and the renovation work necessary was within the scope of our budget. He provided detailed enough drawings that allowed us to get pre-bids from contractors and review the project with our condo board. Once approved, he waited patiently through our pro-longed financing stage, and once complete, he worked through an overly challenging Brooklyn DOB as efficiently as possible to get building plans approved. Throughout the construction phase, he helped in managing a difficult contractor, visiting the site regularly and giving very detailed feedback at each stage of construction from demo to punch list. He was a pleasure to work with and we recommend him highly.

I highly recommend Manhatta Architecture. I utilized Richard in a consultative relationship in which he provided advice on an apartment purchase. Richard advised me on a number of properties under consideration, and his input helped me determine value, avoid costly mistakes, estimate renovation costs, etc. His insight was straightforward and honest, and gave me a distinct edge in a highly competitive process.

Richard helped us transform our dingy 1950s bathroom into a clean and modern masterpiece! Since it is a small space, we needed precise plans to be sure our new tub, vanity, and toilet would all fit comfortably. Through a series of drawings, Richard helped us to identify and eliminate potential issues, which in turn ensured a relatively stress-free demo and construction process. His check-ins on the project as work progressed provided the necessary quality control. Richard worked with us to achieve the look we wanted while staying within our budget. His recommendations for sourcing fixtures and tiles were invaluable. From start to finish, Richard was accommodating, flexible, punctual, and easy to communicate with. We are very pleased with our new bathroom and highly recommend Manhatta Architecture!
