Lo Chen is the founder and creative director of Lo Chen Design, a full-service design firm specializing in hospitality, residential, commercial interiors, staging, and model home design. Areas served include the United States and international. Embracing her love of art and design, she integrates the client's needs and aspirations with the limitless possibilities of space, form, color, light, and material functionally and aesthetically. Lo grew up in cosmopolitan Hong Kong, she is also passionate to combine oriental and western culture in some of her work. Lo received her BFA in Interior Design from Parsons School of Design and Fine Arts from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She worked with Tony Chi & Associates and BBGM, award-winning global design firms specializing in hospitality design. She also collaborated with Interior Marketing Group, one of the top New York staging companies. All of these experiences have honed her knowledge of refined craftsmanship, distinct furnishing, ingenious aesthetics, impeccable attention to detail, and practical skills in both interior design and architecture. Her work has been featured and referenced in leading international publications including: Elle Decor, Coveted Magazine, BRABBU Design Forces, Dering Hall, Houzz, Interior Elite, Hi Home, ACS, and Home Style etc., as well as multiple design books, Modern Luxury Residences and Adorn Your Life.

Working with Lo has been such a wonderful experience. I hired her to renovate my home office during the pandemic when I realized I would no longer need an office outside my home. I am a mental health professional and was in desperate need of a relaxing, calming yet beautiful space. Lo came up with an exquisite and functional design tuning into my needs and being conscious of my budget. She’s an exceptional designer with great style and taste. She has an excellent resume and impressive portfolio. She implemented my project from start to finish and left no small detail unattended to. She keeps things moving in a timely fashion and was extremely attentive. ( and fun to work with!) The end result has been a wonderfully soothing environment, which is exactly what I wanted. My clients consistently comment on how beautiful my office environment is. I am so glad to be able to give my clients this experience, but I would never have been able to do it without Lo. She is truly a miracle worker! Without hesitation I highly recommend her firm.

Lo is really a one of a kind designer! She has great artistic eyes and sense of the interior space, she can visualize how various designed components can work together in a harmonious and yet unique space! My wife and I worked with Lo on a full gut rehab of our 1800 SF home. Lo was a joy to work with, she had wonderful ideas and also worked with our personal style and taste to help us build our dream home. She was also very patient with our questions and demanding time frames, responding promptly while living across the country from us. Lo also worked to find tangible solutions to our budget constraints, which was especially difficult given the economics of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are very happy with the results of our home project and working with Lo was essential to that result.

Visionaire Apartment

We had a fantastic experience working with Lo. She was extremely professional, responsive, and always went the extra mile to come up with design ideas and search for products. We are so happy with the way the apartment turned out and have received so many compliments about our apartment design from guests. We highly recommend her for anyone considering working with a designer.

Lo did a terrific job for my Shanghai apartment. Even thought we were half the globe apart, she helped design the entire apartment, including living room, and bedrooms, offered invaluable advance on color tone, furniture design, appliances that are both chic and homey. Furthermore, she is super patient with me, when I seek advice on colors, fabric, materials that I should use for my wardrobes, curtains etc. I'll definitely go back to Lo should I buy my next apartment.

I have the pleasure to work with Lo and would highly recommend her service. During the pandemic, I am required to work from home. My home office was downright depressing and Lo gave me a complete makeover. She brightens up my work environment with functional yet uplifting design. In addition, her lean design is sustainable and environmentally friendly, even keeping my office ventilation in mind. Overall, I like working with Lo as her approach is efficient and communication is clear. She listens well to my requirements, integrates with her unique design, and makes working from home a joy. We are expanding our renovation to the whole house next year. I am happy we can work together again!

This person has poor communication skills. We had an email exchange with 12 emails back and forth in which she set a time and date for us to meet at my new home, 5 days before the close. The seller, broker, contractor, and myself all worked around her schedule. She had promised to work at a discounted rate since I am a healthcare professional, so I did my best to accommodate her. She emailed me two nights before our appt expressing doubts because she said she rarely starts on a project before the client closes and has had problems before. I did my best to assure her the close was going to happen, but I also felt confused by her indecisiveness. Then she proceeded to cancel 36 hours before our scheduled appt...very disappointed ☹️ And she really left me in a lurch.

I am very sorry to learn about your experience. I value every one of my clients and have always strived to build a positive relationship with them, many of whom have become long-term clients.
I understand our communication was not the best, and I might have come across as indecisive. My sincere apologies. I was forced to decline the project due to an unforeseen medical issue (now resolved).
In hindsight, I should have been more forthcoming in our email communications, as you as a medical professional would surely understand.

I first commissioned Lo to do the interior design of a NYC apartment. I chose Lo out of a number of designers, for two reasons. Firstly, her portfolio is quite impressive and her design approach appealed to me. Secondly, I had a clear vision of the aesthetic that I wanted and Lo came across as a great collaborator to pull it all together. Over two years on, we continue to appreciate many aspects of our chic space - from Lo's great choice of an oval marble, pedestal dining table to our fabulous extra large Italian leather sectional. When we decided to undergo a full gut renovation of a house in the Hamptons, I once again commissioned Lo. Lo has been a great partner from sourcing our amazing tiles to deciding on an array of paint colors, fixtures and fittings. Together we have created a wonderful contemporary, beach feel which is exactly what I was looking to achieve. Lo is a very talented designer and fantastic person to work with. I highly recommend Lo for projects of any size.

Lo Chen Design has specified our ventless fireplaces on multiple New York projects, and working with Lo is always a pleasure. She is very talented and responds to each client’s aesthetic with a keen attention to detail.
