The Lazy Gardener has changed its focus to fine gardening maintenance and specialty pruning. That’s because we see a real need for best horticultural practices. Unlike your typical “mow, blow, and go” landscaping crew, we’re New York Botanical Garden-trained, horticultural experts who’ll take care of your garden like it’s our own. We’ll never shape your shrubs into ridiculous balls or squares, or indiscriminately apply chemicals you may not need. Instead, we use sustainable practices to hand-tend to your garden, with knowing eyes to spot issues before they become worse, keeping your property looking natural, healthy, and beautiful. Of course, we still love garden design and are available for consulting on the best approach, giving you innovative ideas for problem areas, recommendations for outdoor living and the best design firm for your project.

Our garden was mature, overgrown and had lost all cohesion. We were great at removing plants to make more space for others, but we needed professional help to create the look we were after. Looking on Houzz and reading the reviews, we really liked The Lazy Gardener and their ethos. We briefed Catherine that we wished for a cottage style, insect friendly garden, using as many of the existing plants as possible. Renee came up with a beautiful design and the team implemented it in a weekend. Now we are so happy with the garden. Everytime I pull into the drive it puts a smile on my face. It feels like every week another plant starts to bloom and we are seeing many butterflies and bees. I have received so many compliments from the neighbours too. Thank you so very much! Catherine and her team are WONDERFUL. She has an incredible breadth of knowledge and attention to detail, but what I loved most of all is how patient she was with me. She explained the thought process of the design and choice of plants; she didn't mind when I asked questions. She was lovely to work with all around. Our landscaping is a true transformation and we couldn't be happier.

I think they are a very good company, I think that Catherine is incredibly knowledgeable regarding all the scrubs/plant life and has solid connection to quality 3rd party vendors. I think the quoting/job spec area could use some clarification, that is my only negative feedback. Other than that, incredibly professional, accommodating and an expert in the space.

Catherine is anything but Lazy.... it was a pleasure working with her, and her project management was fantastic. We started the conversation in July, planted in October and finished in Dec. We love our new landscape and highly recommend her. I will say be patient , it takes time. Cant wait till spring!
