King's Granite and Marble

King's Granite and Marble (Aldin Mejia) installed granite in my kitchen three weeks ago and did a terrible job. The installation was only supposed to take one day and it turned into a two day fiasco. Instead of having to take one day off from work, I had to take two vacation days off. The guys he had working on my install had very little idea what they were doing and it showed by the kind of work they produced. By late evening (8:00 p.m.) of the first day, Aldin finally showed up and got involved because the job wasn't getting done right. He didn't show up until late afternoon (4:30 p.m.) of the second day, after I waited for him to show up all day, and finished the job himself around 9:30 p.m. I paid him in full. I didn't notice that the bar on the knee wall separating the kitchen from the breakfast area was off level until the backsplash was installed a few days later. The bar is off level by ¾ of an inch on one side and it looks really bad. After removing some of the backsplash, I spent most of the day this past Saturday sawing through the silicone under the granite with a flat saw. It took many hours to complete this. I then moved the granite to one of my small couches, after piling pillows on top of it and a piece of plywood, and cleaned the underside of the granite, as well. Aldin also cracked my granite at the back of the kitchen sink to the far left of the faucet and didn't bother to tell me. I didn't notice it immediately because the epoxy glue that he used didn't turn yellow right away, but it's now very noticeable and doesn't match the granite at all. You can clearly see where he glued the pieces together. I called a granite repair company and the guy who came out said that the job was very poorly done and if it was his house he would make Aldin replace the entire counter connected to the cracked piece of granite. I told him I had already paid Aldin and based on the poor quality of his work and the fact that he cracked my granite and didn't tell me about it, I seriously doubted he would come back and make it right. He also said that if Aldin had taken a minute to add some color to the epoxy the glue would not have turned yellow and the crack would not have been so noticeable. He said there was nothing that he could do to repair it because if he tried to use a dremel on it to remove the glue from the crack, the granite on either side of it would chip and it would wind up looking worse than it already does. He also said that putting a seam at the sink is the worst place to seam granite and that Aldin didn't do a good job matching the granite at the seam either. The other issue is with the piece of granite that was installed in my small guest bathroom. The edge of the granite is wavy and wasn't cut straight. I am in the process of hiring a reputable contractor / granite fabricator to fix the knee wall so that it is level, something Aldin should have done according to several professional installers I've talked to in the last week. Aldin should have completed the job correctly instead of throwing it up any old way, just to get it done, which is exactly what he did. I am having to spend more money on a job that was poorly and unprofessionally done by King's Granite and Marble.
