Kara was our interior designer for our custom build home. She has many strengths that helped us tremendously as we were overseas for most of the construction and decision deadlines. Kara has a background in architecture in addition to her training as an interior designer. Based on this, she is able to look at the home holistically as well as focus on the small details. She is patient, encourages you to move out of a comfort zone and at the same time maintains the aesthetic that you want. We never felt rushed while making decisions and always felt comfortable with the ones we arrived at. We highly recommend Kara for projects regardless of size.

It has been such a pleasure working with KDS Design Group on our remodel project. Kara managed our project for both architectural and interior design. Not knowing what to expect when designing and remodeling a home, Kara explained the necessary steps and was very patient with us throughout the whole process. Kara did an amazing job maximizing our existing space and incorporating additional square footage to achieve a layout that aligned with our specific requirements. Kara has an incredible eye for interior design and lighting! She worked with us to incorporate our design style while also challenging us to think outside the box and at times get out of our comfort zone. The end result is a stunning home that we will enjoy for many years to come. We would highly recommend KDS Design Group and Kara for any home project.

Kara has excellent vision and taste. She transformed our house of dated furniture (living room, family room, 3 bedrooms and an office) into a home filled with light, beauty, and clean lines / feel. She also re-designed out kitchen and dining space into a modern, functional and beautiful center of our home for our family to cook, eat and enjoy ourselves. She was enjoyable to work with and has a true talent for creating an environment that is unique (wall treatment, paint colors, backsplash, etc.) yet polished and warm.

KDS Design Group exceeded my expectations! The design concept was well thought through and executed. I particularly enjoyed the interpretation of what I wanted. The final space is more inviting and "me" than I had envisioned. The design elements they incorporated made my space (kitchen and family room) elevated, crisp, and even a touch of "cool", which I absolutely love. They are quick to respond, easy to work with, worked with my budget, and overall a true pleasure. We had a wonderful experience!

KDS Design Group's lead designer Kara has an amazing eye for design. She takes the time to get to know her clients to find out how to best bring their vision to life. She is an attentive listener who carefully and delicately encourages clients to think outside the box. Kara focuses on where design and function intersect. She designs beautiful spaces, and never forgets how you and your family will ultimately use that space. She remembers and makes room for the small details that make life easier for her clients. I wish I could give KDS Design Group more than 5 stars! My project is currently underway and should be completed by October 2023. KDS Design Group designed, and orchestrated my full remodel and outdoor living space, and was available whenever I had questions. From site drawings to permitted plans, picking paint colors to aligning window and doorways to capture the best natural light, KDS Design does it all!

We worked with Kara for our new residential build and couldn't be happier with the outcome. Kara came on board after the architectural design was completed but was still able to suggest thoughtful and practical improvements to our layout. She was effective at understanding our desired style better than we could actually articulate, and then translating it into a creative and cohesive vision for our house. Her strong knowledge of local suppliers helped smooth the process when it came time to procure finishes within our desired budget. When visitors compliment our house, we give credit to Kara, and would recommend her without reservations.

I had the pleasure of collaborating with designer Kara Silkwood on a major residential remodel and addition located in Los Gatos, California. She was a tremendous asset to our design team as our small addition grew to a whole-house remodel and addition--approximately 3,000 sq. ft. single story home. Together, we transformed a simple ranch style home into a custom detailed, beautifully decorated craftsman style home inside and out. I would highly recommend Interior Designer, Kara for your project.
