Mark Eyler specializes in designing custom residential homes, and has more than 20 years experience designing custom homes and other significant projects in the Hawaiian Islands, on the mainland, and internationally. Experienced in all aspects of architectural work, Mark offers services ranging from Site Planning and Project Development to Conceptual Design and Construction Supervision. As a founder and Principal Architect for Architects Kauai (established in 1989), Mark has many satisfied clients in the Hawaiian Islands. During the last two decades Mark has developed a unique insight into evolving architectural forms and the myriad choices involved in home building—from site selection, to building laws, to materials choices. Extensive international traveling—from early academic trips to France, Germany, London and Canada to recent projects in Panama, Bali, and Costa Rica—has broadened Mark’s knowledge and experience.

Michael L. Gaussa, Landscape Architect. I worked with Architects Kauai on several projects throughout the last 3 decades. The principal architect, Mark Eyler, has a unique ability for discovery of the genius of a place, and expresses this special talent in site planning. He is able to reveal hidden potential in a site where none is thought to exist. And on those spectacular sites, he maximizes the grandeur of the setting, purposefully revealing one view after another as one moves throughout the site in a carefully orchestrated choreography. His architecture stands on its own merit but the thoughtful use of buildings masses to create outdoor spaces is a hallmark of his design philosophy. Mark’s design sense has been influenced by his many years in Hawaii and his world travels. The result is a fusion of old world timelessness and modern simplicity. I highly recommend Architects Kauai for your next project.

As an principal partner of Jamie Jackson Design I wanted to take the time to review Mark Eyler's work. I have had the pleasure of working with him from the ground up on several projects on multiple islands. Mark is extremely talented in designing homes that match the site, making the most of view planes, space and airflow. His rooflines are a pleasure to view and work for each home....not a talent every architect has. Mark was a landscape architect first so the home is designed to maximize the true indoor outdoor living experience that we want here in the islands. He is also a great team player, working well with contractor, interior designers and clients. I highly recommend his work.

Mark did a phenomenal job on our Kauai house! He delivered exactly what we wanted by maintaining curb appeal and providing a spacious design that is in keeping with the local feel. His small personal details, such as the creative copper outdoor shower, added a great deal to the finished product. His keen artistic eye was hugely helpful with the interior design. Mark never missed a deadline and oversaw all aspects of the job from the start to the finish. He ensured all the permits went through in a timely fashion. Lastly, Mark's attention to detail and follow-through enabled the job to be completed in a year, which is amazing for any location.

Mark is a visionary! He listened to my ideas and translated them beautifully. He managed the details of the project efficiently from beginning to end and was very easy to work with. I highly recommend AK.

Working with Mark Eyler was delightful! We have worked with other architects before, and the experience with Mark was the smoothest. His design thoughtfully incorporated the elements of our house that we wanted to maintain and the new elements we wanted to add. Many in the neighborhood have commented on how was able to preserve the original feeling of the house, even while increasing the square footage significantly. He was very involved in the whole construction process as well, making sure all the details were attended to and working with the contractor since we were out of state. The house was completed on time and on budget as well!

Architects Kauai took our basic house plan and made it fabulous, adding a huge veranda and columns in front and special details throughout. We are so happy with the work they did for us and appreciate it every day. No one does tropical architecture better.
