I worked with Kathleen and her staff from 2017 to 2019 to redecorate the living, dining and family areas in my Lafayette home. Because of her reputation, I expected excellence, but I didn't know how much fun we would have doing this project! Kathleen quickly took up my vision of a transitional conversation living room arrangement and dining room able to accommodate dinner parties. In one trip to the SF Design Center we found the perfect rug and furniture pieces. I appreciated Kathleen's focus on quality plus value. Her staff provided multiple fabric combination choices which we reviewed together for final choices. I love the rooms and we really enjoy the spaces now!

I've had the pleasure of working with the super talented team of designers at Kathleen Burke Design and I highly recommend this firm. Since buying our home in May 2018, we've been working to furnish nearly the entire house, plus doing a remodel of our Master Bedroom Suite. The process is very involved and time consuming with so many choices, but Kathy, Jaklyn, Jill and the rest of the design team have been very helpful creating an overall master vision for the home and finding the right mix of traditional touches mixed with updated furniture and finishes. Kathleen did an excellent job designing our kitchen and family room. She is very professional and knowledgable and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Kathy entered my kitchen remodel project to help with finishes on a kitchen design created by another designer. She took one look and came up with a revision that made all the difference between an ordinary vs spectacular result. We scrapped the plan and started over with her. As friends visit, almost all the elements they compliment are details Kathy proposed. I would have had 85% of the result without her help but again her ability to hear my likes and then take them a step further toward spectacular made all the difference. More over her team's attention to documentation of details and decisions helped ensure the project was implemented with ease.

Kathy helped us on a kitchen remodel in 2015. She and her team came up with a brilliant design that we had never considered. We had never remodeled before and weren't sure what to expect. Kathy had told us that she would do just as much as we wanted her to do, Once they came up with the actual design and drawings I had a vision of what I wanted and went with it. Kathy helped along the way; I ran many of my ideas by her. She really did just what we needed and wanted. The team always responded quickly to our ideas and changes. I really give Kathy and her team most of the credit for the beautiful kitchen I now have. Her design and drawings provided almost all of the inspiration we needed.

Kathleen has been at the center of our expansive three-phase home remodel for four years now. She works easily with architects, contractors, subcontractors, specialty designers, and product suppliers. She is very hard working, not easily frustrated, extremely communicative, and just generally nice to be around. Over the years she has grown her support team with similarly friendly and knowledgeable professionals. I could name a long list of reasons to hire Kathleen Burke Design, but two stand out: attention to detail and vision. Kathleen is very thorough. She is meticulous in specifying measurements and calculating quantities and confirming durability and all of those tedious little things that are not fun to manage but can create a disaster if ignored. Kathleen has years of experience but is constantly still acquiring knowledge because she wants to deliver the client's vision. For example, on our project this month she has spent time consulting experts in proper use of radiant heat under a pewter countertop and how to get the desired finish on reclaimed wood for our ceiling. She never steers us toward what is easier for her. Kathleen is also very good at helping her clients develop an overall vision for the project and then making sure the various elements of the design are consistent with that vision. She has an excellent predictive sense of small changes that can make an enormous improvement in the feel of a space. We've said many times, "I am so glad Kathleen suggested (moving the wall, changing that light, adding those cabinets)." She's also skilled at coordinating the architecture of the home with the interior design and the landscaping. We've gone with her recommendation on more than one occasion when we would have otherwise chosen differently. Never once have we regretted it. I will submit another review and add photos when we get further along in our project because we are barely halfway done. But since we have now worked with Kathleen for about 4 years, I feel quite confident in submitting a 5 star review. We have changed contractors, subcontractors and architects, but we will definitely work with Kathleen until the very end.

My husband and I have worked with Kathleen Burke Design since the mid 1990's. We needed help in updating our 1960's ranch style home which was outdated and tired looking. Due to costs we decided to renovate our home in stages. Among the phases were a new interior/exterior entry, master bedroom and master bath, guest bathroom, updated kitchen and living room (which included windows, counter top, moldings, furniture and fabric). Our most recent project completed in November, 2014, was an exquisite guest cottage adjacent to our renovated pool. Over the years, Kathy has helped us to achieve the type of home we could only dream about. Without question one of her greatest strengths has been her ability to connect with us and understand our vision. At every design meeting Kathy would come prepared with inspirational photos and sketches which helped us develop our ideas. If we ever had a question about one of her design suggestions, Kathy would take the time to explain her direction based on her experience from a previous project. She would educate us as to why a certain look worked and why it didn't. This quality has been the cornerstone of our relationship with her over the years. We have had peace of mind in every phase of our renovation. Guests comment constantly on the ambiance of our home which exudes charm, warmth and character. Kathy has a fabulous staff, can work within a budget, and is well organized. She will always get our highest recommendation as a designer who is committed to excellence.

Kathy was our designer for the whole house remodel we completed this year. She and her team developed detailed floor plans and elevations for the entire house, including a completely redesigned kitchen, living room, family room, and multiple bathrooms. All new furnishings, carpets, and window treatments were done as well. Kathy is an excellent listener, and worked very collaboratively with us her clients, as well as with our contractor and others involved in the project.
