I started working with Kai for my own home, starting with the kitchen. Working with him was such a joy that we expanded the scope to include bathroom vanities, cabinets, closet millwork, and shelving. Kai is a wonderful person to work with. He's communicative, meticulous, and so incredibly talented. His dedication to his craft is evident in every interaction. I appreciate the kind and direct manner in which he sets expectations. Kai clearly lays out costs and openly discusses potential tradeoffs and considerations for design. Working together felt like a true collaboration. I enthusiastically recommend Kai and I cannot wait to work with him again!

We managed our own kitchen remodel, and while we had a good idea of what we wanted, we didn't have a contractor managing it all - and we didn't have plans from an architect either. Nevertheless, Kai Lundgren-Williams of Kaimade created fabulous cabinets for our kitchen and bathroom remodel. We explained our ideas to him as well as the layout, and he came back with illustrations of possible ideas. After getting the drawings, I worked with him to provide requirements for any special equipment (e.g. I wanted a drawer for my stand mixer, and we knew we were planning to install a warming drawer), and he made adjustments as necessary. When we decided on the final design and layout, he made very careful measurements and came back with a fantastic set of cabinets that installed perfectly. I really appreciated that Kai made recommendations to us about what kind of wood to use in which place, designed non-traditional handles for appliances (like the refrigerator) that I loved, recommended using no hardware so that the beauty of the wood would be fully displayed - and on and on. He has a keen artistic sense coupled with excellent craftsmanship, so we ended up with kitchen and bathroom that we love unabashedly. I can truly say that working with Kai was the highlight of our remodel.

I was on a mad quest to have a media center built, and ran across Kai on Houzz. From consultation-to-furniture install, he was exceptionally patient, thorough and very attentive. Kai is the perfect blend of craftsman and artist. He loves his work and it really shows in his craft. Thanks to Kai, I have a media center that’s more of a work of art. I’m very happy, and I look forward to him designing more things for my place.

Kai is an incredible artist! During our San Francisco house remodel, we learned so much from Kai's understanding of wood, technique, and design. We literally receive compliments on Kai's artistry every time someone comes over. Here are just a few of the things we love about Kai: - He worked closely with us to create a beautiful kitchen, entryway, media center, laundry room, and bathroom. He listened to our ideas, drew up plans on the computer, created the pieces, installed the pieces, came back to fine tune the installation, and kept doing that until every drawer opened smoothly and every shelf was in just the right place. - Kai is sensitive to financial concerns and he has ideas that we would never have thought of. - Kai is a warm and kind person and he listens to classical music while he works. - Kai loves wood and he will make you love and appreciate wood like you never have before!

What hasn't Kai made for my house? It is always a pleasure to work with Kai--he is keenly interested in understanding and working towards what you want and has a great eye to help with the design and aesthetic. His craftsmanship is superb and you can just feel the care and passion he puts into every piece.

I wanted a couple pieces for my living room. A friend recommended Kaimade, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. Knowledgeable and passionate, Kai and Joseph were so patient during the design process, hearing out my ideas and making relevant suggestions. It felt collaborative and fun the whole way, like my thoughts were not only translated but also elevated into live, livable art. My coffee table and bench turned out better than I could have imagined. I'm already looking forward to the next project!

I started working with Kai a number of years ago and he has made all of the custom furniture for my interior design projects ever since. He is a perfectionist at his craft and he is an inspiring person to work with. Because he is so passionate about furniture, art, and design he is the ideal collaborator. Kai has made dining tables, credenzas, bookcases, floating shelves, side tables, media cabinets, a desk, benches and other pieces for my clients. I have been so very happy with everything he has produced and my clients all love Kai's work. He is always attentively involved with me and the client all the way through a project. All my clients fall in love with Kai and they want him to keep coming back to make more furniture!

Kai is not only an excellent carpenter and amazing artist, he is also a wonderful person to work with. I had several challenging angled corners and walls, which I wanted to make more useful for storage and display. Kai met each project with an intelligent appreciation of the space, my hopes, and the materials he works with. I have always been grateful for his inventive and beautiful solutions.

Kai has made me several beautiful pieces for my holistic healthcare offices in San Francisco. When people arrive his shelving unit displays all of our raw herbs is so inviting. People often ask right away who made it. He has used poplar wood for my projects which I can tell he hand picks for there unique beauty. He helped me decide on this type of wood to stay within my budget but also give me a wood with dimension and a clean finish. He has built me shelving units, bookshelves and most recently a gorgeous reception desk. He has come up with small details like built in business card holders that I would have never though of. His work is truly unique to him and so lovely. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Kai was the woodworker on a couple of my residential design projects and I ecstatically plan to work with him again in the near future! He has a high level of professionalism when it comes to planning and budgeting, and he brings his joy and expertise to the world of wood that shows through in the end result.
