We were recommended J&S by our realtor and we're blown away by our overall experience. From the get go we were up against it, we had 5 weeks from close to move-in with a pandemic sweeping New York to get the floors completed. From when I contacted John via email he was super responsive, switching to text and providing multiple recommendations with availability, materials and finish. We had just bought a 2 story 1,400 sqft. condo in Peekskill. The upper lever had a beat up red oak 1.5-2" plank drenched in an awful red/brown oil stain, the lower part of our condo was carpet on a concrete slab. It was a daunting endeavor but John's advice here was great. Our objective was the best overall look and match, without breaking the bank on new planks for the lower level. In the end we decided on 3" red oak engineered planks for the 700 sqft. lower level mainly to cost, as it was literally 50% cheaperer than the smaller more custom size and the benefit of an engineered hardwood plank. John sourced 3 separate quotes and I paid direct to the supplier. I opted to remove the carpet, underlay and tacs myself, J&S also can do this if you don't fancy removing 15 year old carpet yourself. The lower level was on a solid concrete slab so moisture, movement, height was all super important this is where the engineered plank wins. John prepped the slab and then painted on the moisture barrier, hardener and seal twice. Once this was done unlike laminate were you need multiple layers of material we could lay directly on top of the sealed slab. John and Adrian then stripped and sanded the upper level and stair treads, filling and replacing anything as they went, they then in parallel started laying the new floor downstairs and provided sample coats of finishes/washed/varnish upstairs so I could see my options. The new planks were carefully laid, cut and glued then sanded like upper level. All of J&S products are great, we opted of the Loba water based hardener product with a matte natural finish. Safe for children, pets and as they are not oil based it takes 2 hours to stay rather than days. Plus if they get damaged, you need a light sand then a coat of the finish again. We were very impressed with the overall experience, work and finish. We learnt very quickly trough our research, Lumber Liquidators or your local handyman are not going to get the job done to the highest quality,. craftsmanship or in the time you need. Only an expert with the knowledge and tools will do it properly. Remember the first and last think you and a buyer will look at is your floors. I would only recommend.J&S.

We bought a fixer upper that needs renovation in almost every single inch. We hired John to refinish our hardwood floors on approx. 1300 sq feet + the stairs. He delivered perfectly! He literally gave new life to our home, the 120 years old oak floors and stairs got their rebirth! We cannot be happier. John made us excited to move in even if the rest of the house is still a fixer upper :-) John and his worker was very respectful, quick, we had great communication and they even worked on the house during the weekend to finish on time. J&S Wood Floors were extremely professional throughout our process in refinishing our floors. We were on a tight time crunch in order to be able to have this job happen for us. They were able to start the same week we had the estimate. John communicated through out the entire process. The floors look brand new. We found his pricing to be very fair and the fact that he came out right away was a huge factor. We are first time home buyers and felt that John took great care of us. Definitely would recommend.

John and his team did an absolutely excellent job transforming my red oak floors from their outdated “gym floor” color to a beautiful gray from the new line of Duraseal gray colors. John took time to listen to my thoughts, provide suggestions and feedback, put down numerous color samples, and provided a flawless result. My kitchen is not yet done, but you can see how good the floors look here! Comparing them to the last photo showing the old color says it all! Highly recommend J&S Wood Floors!

J&S Wood Floors did a beautiful job refinishing my Red Oak flooring. I have hired them twice so far and intend to have more floors refinished by them later this summer.
