Joy is delightful to work with and her design ideas are really stunning - "outside the box," but not too avant garde. Her staff is terrific as well. We love our totally renovated home, as do all of our friends and neighbors! We wish that we would have been able to afford all of her recommendations - as with most big projects, we sometimes felt that costs were spinning out of control. However, she was willing to work with us to suggest ways to do things more economically, and to tell us when it would NOT be a good idea to go the cheaper route. The results are spectacular.

From the beginning our organization was in demand for a team of professionals who had the education and talent needed to build such an exquisite building in the downtown area. Details such as the sloping roof line or the floor to ceiling glass solarium to renovating an existing space to create unity between the new and old was truly genius. Without Aline's involvement in the permitting process they wouldn't have completed this project on schedule.

We did a kitchen renovation in our summer home and needed someone to manage the job for us especially since we were not there all the time. Aline Architecture was the perfect solution! They are incredibly professional and responsible as well as responsive to all of our questions and needs during the process. Their contractors, electrician, painter,... all were highly professional and made it easy not to worry during the project. In fact, we liked them so much they are doing several more projects for us now.

My wife and I have the greatest respect for Joy Cuming and her Aline Architectural firm. Initially - during the start up of our working relationship - she demonstrated great flexibility, creativity and a splendid sense of humor in producing alternative designs and livability concepts for a major addition and renovation of our traditional cape cod home. As we worked with Joy on refining the plans, she connected us to the highly competent contractor/ master contractor who would undertake the year-long construction and finishing work. Throughout, Joy and her staff were always on the spot to work out the many challenges of permitting, construction phases and design tweaking. In sum, we have been extremely pleased with the final product and every day are grateful for the peace and contentment that this wonderfully livable home provides our family.

As an Architectural Sales Representative for a vendor of premium building supply products, I am fortunate enough to work with some of the top architects in our region. All firms are different, and bring unique skills and experience to the marketplace. Many firms are great to work with... however none is more pleasurable to work with than Aline Architecture. Joy and her team are true professionals who are passionate about their projects, designs, and perhaps most importantly the people involved in them. Whether relative to my role as a vendor/supplier, or as a client, they treat everyone with the same level of respect, dignity and care. Aline Architecture is a classy organization that sets the bar very high for their competition (I use this term loosely in this instance). The entire office is friendly and kind, and quite frankly they are my favorite office to visit. This doesn't even scratch the surface to how I feel about them personally, but I should also speak to their talent and design skills. While in my experience Aline Architecture focuses primarily on contemporary projects, I have also had the opportunity to work with them on more traditional projects as well. They are extremely versatile in their talents and skills. Their plans are neat, organized, and easy to interpret and work with. With a lot of firms you have to be very careful in making assumptions as information is often missing or incorrect... not with Aline. Aline pays great attention to detail and it shows in their finished projects. It is truly an honor to be associated with a firm of such a high caliper, and I am very proud of my history with Aline Architecture. I embrace each and every opportunity I am blessed with to work with them on one of their awesome projects!!

With our contemporary house nearing its 20th year, we asked Joy Cuming's Aline Architecture for guidance on updating the interior. She developed a full plan for the Great Room that comprised a startling new shelving system to display our collection of Inuit sculpture, bold painting of walls and refinishing of floors to a dark sheen, conversion of my office into a classic and comfortable book-lined study, and a totally new look for the kitchen area, with glistening white formica and glass cabinetry. She, her staff and sub-contractors executed this big project flawlessly and without hitches. An all-around beautiful renovation with happy homeowners relishing the new look.

Joy Cuming served as our architect for the gut renovation and expansion of our Cape Cod style Orleans home in 2010-11. She produced a fantastic result. Joy provided a wealth of information and advice across many aspects of design, down to lighting, hardware and tile selection, and her design included many details that we had not imagined. Joy's team members were always responsive. Best of all, Joy is FUN to work with, always bringing a positive attitude to client consultations. Joy has photos of our home if you wish to view them. Aline Architecture Inc has designed and built a charming extra room from a linen closet and designed, purchased furnishings and project managed a remodeling of two bathrooms and a kitchen. The results are outstanding. .Aline is sensitive and responsive to what the clients want and to the general environment of the project.. Debate is encouraged so decisions are not imposed. Design solutions are creative and innovative, and practical. Aline is resourceful in finding the solutions. Project management is pleasant and efficient. Aline takes responsibility and "owns" the project throughout. It is a fun experience to work with Aline.

We've hired Aline to design and remodel our East Orleans home. So far (a few months into construction) they've been great. Lots of great ideas, excellent at incorporating our particular needs and feedback, very creative, fun, pleasant, and easy people to work with. Their work is clearly very careful and of the highest quality; they're actually resolving a lot of issues left over from previous, less-conscientious builders. We are confident that our house will be beautiful and more functional when they finish. This is a top-notch shop!
