In the fall of 2020, we contacted multiple companies to obtain advice and quotations for renovating our kitchen. After considerable research we decided to engage Oldja Enterprises of St Petersburg. We met with a Jim Wittstruck to review and finalize our design put down our deposit and got on the calendar for a January installation.
As promised, Jim kept in touch and advised us in early January that our renovation would commence on January 11th. Dan and Mario completed the demolition of our kitchen, removed our old wood floor, installed new tile flooring that first week. In week two they. Installed all new cabinets, upper and lower, constructed a reworked island, and installed a new sink, faucet, disposal, microwave drawer, and range hood vent. New quartz countertops and backsplash were completed by Feb 2nd and final touches and a brick accent wall completed by Feb 5th.
From day one until completion Dan’s commitment to doing things right was evident. On his watch no corners are cut, and no attention to detail is too great. As he and Mario created our new kitchen, Jim stopped in to monitor progress and check on our satisfaction. We became accustomed to Dan telling us at the end of each day that he would be back “tomorrow between 8 and 9...”. Like clockwork he and Mario would arrive, do their work, and clean up before leaving.
It’s now been several weeks since the renovation and we love our kitchen! Our research paid off since we can say without hesitation that Jim, Dan, Mario, and Oldja did an awesome high quality kitchen renovation for us at a competitive price. We highly recommend Oldja Enterprises!

The cabinets took an additional 4 weeks then what we were told, but that was ok since the other work, to get ready for the cabinets, was running behind. The day the cabinets came was the same day the worker came to make a template for our quartz counters. We made sure he knew that the size of the one large section of the bar was to be 19 inches, not 17 which was the previous counter. We also told Johnny this when we first met with him. However, the counter was cut at 16 1/4! Even smaller than the original counter. To make matters worse, at the end of the bar it was cut so short that the wall stuck out further then the counter. They also had to piece meal a small section ( 18 inches of counter between the fridg and range) together because it came a couple of inches short. So we now had a seam on an small 18” counter where there shouldn’t be one. On the 16 1/4 counter there was a seam as well because that was cut wrong. So the 16 1/4 bar counter was cut wrong in length, width and debt and apparently piece mealed together because of the seam. It was as if two of the three stooges measured, came, and put in the counters. We couldn’t believe they left it that way when done, and thinking it would be ok. When they showed up with the new replacement 19” bar counter, it was 18 1/4” not 19”. Unbelievable! At that point we just wanted to be done with it all, so we settled for a smaller counter. I would not recommend any of there services.

The cabinets were not late. In this particular case we were hired as a subcontractor by the general contractor who was running this project. The cabinets were delivered and installed the exact day agreed to with the general contractor. I am not privy to what was discussed between the general contractor and these two ladies, but we were pushed back on our start date due to the overall project running behind. I never spoke to this woman or her wife regarding the schedule, as I always dealt directly with the general contractor.
My saw operator did make a mistake on a bar area and cut the top too short. It does not happen often, but when it does we correct the situation. I took full responsibility for the mistake and told her we were going to replace it, which is exactly what I did. I put the new top into production immediately and we returned two days later with the new top.
Furthermore, the cabinet handles that the customer was supplying were not onsite the day we needed them for installation. Our Terms and Conditions are very clear in stating that all customer provided materials must be onsite and in installable condition at the time they are needed. If they are not, we charge a remobilization fee, since we then have to return for an extra day of work that was not budgeted/paid for. I told them I would send someone back to install the hardware and wave the fee even though we were entitled to it per our contract. This was an attempt to try and rectify the incorrectly cut bar top. I did provide a free hardware installation saving this customer $200.00. One of these two women was very difficult to deal with and fought with every subcontractor on the job. She literally complained about everything and was an overall unhappy person who has gone on a social media crusade to trash my company's reputation. Luckily, this is not normal and we have hundreds of positive reports to prove otherwise. Thank you for your business. Johnny Oldja

Oldja’s personnel were very professional in bidding, ordering ALL the cabinets, faucets, countertops, and miscellaneous options to complete our installation. They were on time, cleaned up daily and notified us of any issues. We have remodeled 9 of our 16 homes we have owned and lived in the past 52 years. Oldja by far has been the most successful completion to date. We highly recommend Oldja for fair price, installation, and professional service provided. Dennis & Carolyn T

please do not hire this company you will be very disappointed. The owner will not own up to mistakes. Kitchen cabinet not aligned straight on floor. Cabinets are not put together correctly and countertops not cut straight. Electrical not up to code. They never even finished the job. Took 20,000 dollars from us.

I'm sorry you feel that way about my company. Fortunately, reports like this are extremely rare as we do everything within reason to keep our customers happy. Unfortunately, everything within reason was not going to make this couple happy.
I would also like it to be known the pictures shown in this report were taken prior to the completion of the job. The pictures do not look finished because we were never given the opportunity to complete the punch list.
After many negotiations without any progress we both finally agreed to allow an "expert" to assess the situation. Although the expert should have been neutral, I was even accommodating to the point of allowing this couple to choose the expert. Since the job was substantially complete (meaning the punch list had not yet been completed), I even agreed to allow their expert to create his own punch list that I agreed to complete. Once the list was completed, I was to be paid the remaining balance due on the contract.
Apparently, this couple was not happy with the list their expert made either because they then broke this deal. This couple refused to listen to us as professionals or their own expert. Subsequently, we were not allowed to finish the punch list and I was basically ripped off for around $6000.00.
To top it off, this duo then went on a social media crusade to trash my companies reputation by posting negative reports on every forum available. The fact that this couple started writing negative reports about my company in the middle of negotiations is an even greater testament to their lack of reasoning. I did my due diligence and offered every solution possible, but this was just a duo nobody was going to please. Johnny Oldja

We were looking to completely remodel our kitchen in our 1980s home, rip up the formica and put in new cabinets and granite. I know working with a contractor can be a hassle. My neighbors had an "Oldja" sign in their yard because they had recently remodeled kitchen. They were very happy & recommended him. I liked the photos on their website. We got a bid from Johnny Oldja & 2 other contractors. We didn't want to change our floorplan, but he had several suggestions we never even thought about that turned out to be useful. He was easy to contact and always responded quickly via text or phone so you won't sit & wait around wondering where your contractor disappeared to. His subs were polite & clean. We're glad we went with Johnny Oldja. Great company to work with.

This review is for a full kitchen remodel I had done in October 2015. I had heard about Oldja Enterprises on Facebook, so I reached out directly to Johnny (the son) and he was able to meet me at my house within a few days of that first call. He took measurements, asked questions, and wrote down notes which he said he’d bring back to his in-house designer. A few days later my husband and I met with the designer at the Oldja showroom, chose a beautiful espresso wood door and another sales rep helped us find matching granite. We basically already knew what we liked and didn’t like about our old kitchen, I already had a strong idea of the shape of the kitchen and where we wanted new cabinets to go, especially once we took down the wall near the dining room to open up our space, but Oldja had some good suggestions, minimizing the “dead space” I thought I’d be stuck with. The designer used the computer to show us a preview of our kitchen in 3D. The whole meeting only took about an hour, and honestly it was fun to see our plans coming together. We signed off on the design, put down a deposit, and then eagerly awaited our new project to start!
Our cabinets took about two weeks to arrive, which was within the timeline we had discussed. After that, someone was at my house almost every day to complete work. I couldn’t be more impressed, and we had them do a LOT. We needed an electrician to add some additional lights over the island, I hired Oldja to do some minor plumbing (I bought a new disposal and wanted them to hook it up along with the new sink), and David & Kurt did a fantastic job installing the cabinets. Tracy and Alberto did a beautiful job installing our granite countertops. The process was smooth, and to be honest once the wall into the dining room was removed I started to get nervous because it suddenly felt like there was “no going back.” Now I can’t imagine how we ever lived for so many years with our old, cramped, and dated kitchen. I love my beautiful new kitchen, and I would recommend Johnny Oldja to anyone looking to do a high-quality kitchen remodel on a budget.

Contract was signed in early August and the kitchen remodel was completed October 31, 2015. The job was subcontracted out. We were surprised to know that our only contact was to be to make the payments to Oldja. The facts are that the kitchen cabinets were not centered above kitchen sink, after installation we could not open the refrigerator door until the cabinet was moved over. This destroyed the cabinetry leaving a gauge of 2" x 3" which the sub contractor filled with wood putty and painted over with non matching paint. This also resulted in creation of 4 inches of dead space as they were forced to move over the refrigerator. A spice cabinet we were told would be ordered was not installed. Each first time inspection by the building inspectors failed because plans were not filed correctly, the job was done incorrectly, and none of the workers on the job were familiar with building codes. At one point the building inspector told us he could require the ceiling to be opened up as they had told the subcontractor to have an inspection before the ceiling was closed. Which subcontractor just waited over two weeks to return to the job. The glass tiles used in the back splashes were cut with low quality, inappropriate blades leaving jagged edges. Tiles were placed perpendicular in some places to fill gaps, were uneven and instead of using the grout we provided generic CAULKING was used between tiles. The kitchen cabinet doors are of different paints. Trim was not placed around the cabinet shelf or along the floor although there is chipping in the wood.
The exterior door that was installed did not meet code and had to be replaced. Shoddy workmanship all around. Although we paid for licensed electricians and plumbers the sub contractor did all the electrical work themselves and at a point disconnected power to an adjacent room which we then had to hire another electrician to come back in and rewire because outlets were dead. By coincidence it ended up being the company that had accepted and signed off on the project with the city but had not done the work. The Electrical Panel wires were scrambled by the subcontractor and now we do not know what switches go with what. The house was vacant and workers showed up at the home at all times of day including once at 9:00 pm on a Friday evening. The cut in the quartz counter is directly half way above and below the sink. The stone is not to a high polish. When questions were put to Oldja the answer was "I'm not doing the job call the subcontractor."
On the positive side, the cabinets are very nice although because of the inexperience in measuring, the hinges on the upper cabinets do not fit flush along the ceiling and so the cabinets do not close all the way. And then again one of the cabinets being a different paint.
All in all if we had more time to fight this battle in court I would have but lesson learned. I am a terrible judge of character. I thought a company using a family name would have pride in workmanship. This could not have been more wrong. In reading the other reviews I don't know where or why this subcontractor was chosen for us. We have had other professionals into the kitchen and they always want to know who did the work. The comments range from "what happened here?" to complete silence.
The response from Johnny tends to run with put downs instead of facts. Johnny does not know how to measure or estimate. Because we did not make changes the final bill was increased by $2,000 stating "he had forgotten to add the counter top for one entire side of the kitchen in his original bill". When discussing the job before the contract was signed we were told what a deal we were getting and that his contract was more detailed than most and he wasn't sure if he wanted our job. If only we had walked out! He did the final walk through and he saw the lack of pride in workmanship. The comment was "it could have been done better". He accepted our money and sent the same workmen out that had done a poor job in the first place to try to make things appear better. After almost 3 months of hoping it was time to move on but I have PAID for the right to have my say about this company. If you consider using this company, ask who will be doing the work. Are they licensed? and What is the recourse when the job doesn't go as planned.
For anyone that may question my comments I will send photos of the job that was completed and anyone can judge for themselves.

Although I disagree with nearly everything stated in this review, I appreciate any feed back and use all reviews as an opportunity to improve my company. With that being said, I would like it to be known the author of this report was never a client of ours. She is the mother of our customer who, nearly a year later has decided to write a report. Until seeing the comments above, I had no idea our client's mother was unhappy. All of my interactions with our client (the author's 30 something year old daughter and son in law) were always civil, productive and a relationship I felt was a good one.
I would also like anyone reading this review to know this woman also gave me a bad check for her second installment, which ended up bouncing due to a lack of funds in her account. The second payment was never received after the check bounced and I waited for the second installment until job completion. Although scheduled payments in accordance with the contract were not met, I self funded the job and moved forward with her daughter's project. Not many contractors would do that, nor should they have to.
In an attempt to be as open and honest as possible, I pulled the job folder to accurately depict our version of the above events.
The final contract was actually signed on August 19 2015, which means we started the project approximately 4 weeks later around the middle/end of September. Given the multiple scopes of work (demolition of existing kitchen including modification of walls, removing soffits, all drywall work, removing flooring, installation of all new flooring, installation of new cabinets, new quartzite countertops fabricated & installed, wiring and installation of a new mechanical hood, texture and paint, installation of tile backsplash, full plumbing work, running power to new range location, installation of multiple recessed lights, installation of appliances etc) and being a permitted job, the customer was told to expect the job to last about 6 weeks give or take, which is exactly what the job took to complete.
The kitchen cabinets were installed exactly as pictured, discussed and agreed upon on the final design. Once we come up with a final design, the customer is required to sign off on it. From that point on there are no changes allowed without changes to the price. The cabinets were installed exactly per the signed off final design. We sat through several design meetings and once the customer was happy, she signed off on the design. She received everything listed on the final design. Again, I never heard any complaints regarding the layout until now.
With regard to the inspections, all inspections required by the city were passed and signed off by the appropriate building officials. If this was not the case, I would not have been paid.
In addition, once we opened the ceiling it was discovered one of the kitchen walls was load bearing. This required additional labor and material, which we never charged for. We also absorbed the time and cost of having a structural engineer sign off on our work.
All of the complaints regarding the quality of our work are simply not true. Again, all inspections required by the city of St Pete were scheduled and passed. Had the construction not met code, the contractor is required to fix the outstanding issue until the inspection is passed. I am personally a Class A General Contractor, which is the highest licensed attainable in Florida. Even as a General Contractor, sub contractors are required to do trade work. The electrical panel was never mixed up by our electrician as we never rewired/upgraded the main breaker box. There is a specific note on our electrical contract which reads "appliances will be reconnected to existing electric, price is not to upgrade electrical system". Our electrician simply connected to the existing main panel, which was already mislabeled. Had you wanted us to upgrade your daughter's service, we could have given you a price to do so, but this was clearly not included in our contract. I'm sorry for your misunderstanding.
The fact my electrical contractor was hired again by the author after this project's completion makes no sense. Also, throughout the project more scopes of work continued being added to the project. The garage door was just one of the scopes not originally agreed upon at the time I pulled the permit. That is the reason it was not included on the original permit. Hiring a company to do additional work once you are unhappy with them just does not add up.
The "cut" (seam) in the quartzite countertop is made at the sink for several reasons. Structurally, this is the weak point in the countertop since only 4" of material is in front of an under mount sink. If the countertop was to crack anywhere, this is where it would crack during installation or in transportation. By placing the seam here you only have a 4" seam, rather than a 25.5" seam (the depth of the countertop), which is more desirable. This too is discussed with the customer onsite by the template technician.
There was absolutely no mistake made in the pricing of the countertop. The reason you paid $1700.00 more for your daughter's countertop is because according to our final contract her pricing was based upon 46 square feet (please refer to page 3 under NOTES). After taking the template and measuring all the pieces your daughter had us template, the job totaled 71 square feet. Since the material your daughter chose was $68 per square foot, you paid for 25 additional square feet at $68/sf for a total of $1700.00. There are several reasons for the difference between the amount stated on the contract versus the amount templated. Some of those reasons include desired overhang sizes on peninsulas or islands, lengths and widths of backsplashes, additional pieces being added such as window sills or knee wall caps and many other factors. You were charged for the amount of quartzite installed at your daughter's residence, plain and simple.
At substantial completion I personally made an appointment with our customer (with her mother present) to go over the final product and come up with a punch list. It was our agreement we would come up with a punch list together and once assembled, we would return to take care of the items on the list. I still have a copy of the punch list which consisted of only 8 items, which I have listed below for the reader to decide for themselves
1. install scribe molding at floor, left side of drawer base
2. caulk finish nails at top of cabinets
3. install molding on face of microwave cabinet to conceal mark made while customizing cabinet for appliance
4. fix dent in fridge panel with wood putty
5. install AC grill in ceiling
6. re grout tile at exterior door to garage (about 2 inches)
7. install molding below granite over hang
8. GENERAL NOTE- adjust/check hinges on cabinets as needed
As any reasonable human can see, this is an extremely acceptable punch list considering the multiple scopes of work we completed. Furthermore, we completed all the above noted items.
All of the personal attacks directed to my inexperience and lack of knowledge of are completely inappropriate and unsubstantiated. I refuse to engage in ad hominem attacks and I encourage any reader to qualify my credentials with any reputable local contractor or building official. I am a 3rd generation contractor, born in St Petersburg and I am friends or personal acquaintances with nearly every other reputable contractor and building official in this area. My father too works with me and has been a licensed building contractor in this area for over 30 years. In 2015, my company successfully completed 391 full kitchen remodels; experience is not our weak point.
The intention of this report is to slander my company due to my unwillingness to give even more discounts for materials and services provided. We absorbed multiple unforeseen costs in an attempt to satisfy our client's mother, but no good deed goes unpunished. Everything that was paid for was identified and priced per our signed agreement.
If there was something that was meant to go on the punch list, but was forgotten about, please let me know. As a person interested in progress and standing by our work I can always be reached via email or my personal cell phone at 727 906 1300. If you truly wish to work this out, I'd love to hear from you.
In return, I ask you reconsider rescinding this one star review as it is completely inappropriate. Thank you for your business. Johnny Oldja CGC1517184

If you are in the market for a new affordable kitchen I have the place for you. Oldja came gave me a estimate it was so affordable that I didn't have to think twice. They came in with a crew that were trust worthy and dependable. Never once did they say they were coming and not show up. I know I will have this kitchen for the rest of my life and every day I walk in and look around nothing could make me happier.

To say that I really, really, REALLY… LOVE this contractor, would be an understatement!
Oldja Enterprises were one of three kitchen contractors that I worked with to design and price out my new kitchen. Being an accountant, I put each firm through extensive questioning and analysis – and Oldja Enterprises rose to the top.
They had the BEST design services, the best turnaround time, very affordable pricing, excellent and immediate communication, and they were the only group to include ALL costs in their original price. I also like that they do a high volume number of kitchens annually because I knew if we ran into any problems with this complete kitchen remodel that they would know how to deal with it… and they did.
I just can’t say enough good things about the Oldja’s – they are simple, straight forward, "good people" that deliver more than they promise. It was such a pleasure dealing with EVERYONE in this group – they were wonderful people to have working in my home... especially my on-site supervisor who is amazing craftsman! I recommend them to everyone without hesitation!
To say that I am ecstatic about their results in my home would also be an understatement! I went from a 1970’s kitchen… to HEAVEN! (See Photo Below)
