Joan Peters is a true professional and a delightful person. Joan and I worked on a number of projects from the design of a new master bedroom suite, a re-do of a family room and helping with the pillows and finishing touches of our Paris apartment. Joan has a wonderful eye for all styles, classic, modern, even Parisian. She’s accomplished and experienced so her knowledge and years in the business will save you time and money. Her fees are fair and all items were delivered on time. Everything was beautiful and of high quality. She’s a lovely women and a delight to work with. I would highly recommend her services. She can a manage construction projects and decor of all sizes and styles.

If you are looking for a designer I would highly recommend Joan Peters! Joan first helped us with a tract home in Carlsbad, then a downtown condo and later a home in La Jolla. Each one unique and comfortable to our then current lifestyle. Joan knows how to draw out your vision for your home and then help you achieve it. We began working with Joan Peters of Joan Peters Design when I moved back to San Diego with my husband and 18-month-old son. I decided to take a four-week interior design class that Joan was teaching at the design firm where she worked at the time. Our first project together was a new tract home in Carlsbad featuring soft and welcoming colors and elements. We wanted to create an oasis after a long day of work and commuting. Thanks to Joan that is exactly what we had. A couple years later we purchased a 4th floor condo in heart of downtown San Diego. Joan helped us come up with an entirely new design statement that was bright and befitting of our active downtown lifestyle. We had just purchased 2 beautiful paintings from a local artist with bold colors that depicted scenes of downtown San Diego and the bay. Joan suggested we revolve the whole design scheme around them. We loved the idea and we loved the outcome! Our next project with Joan was a home in La Jolla where we selected a completely different look. Joan helped us bring our vision into reality. Thanks to Joan we enjoyed a comfortable child friendly home with great style and a warm feel. Once our children went off to school and were on their own, we decided to do a major remodel. Before the project began Joan asked us to look through magazines and books for the feeling and elements we wanted. I told her I wanted to bring the outdoors inside featuring natural wood grains. That is exactly what she did. Joan walked us through knocking out walls throughout and designing new and open living spaces. Wow - what a huge difference! Joan redesigned both of our fireplaces as well as an entire recessed lighting plan throughout. With Joan’s guidance we gutted and transformed our bathrooms and we relocated and redesigned our kitchen. I enjoy cooking and am particular about where everything should be in the kitchen for optimum efficiency. Joan considered exactly how I wanted to use my kitchen down to where and how I wanted the trash cans installed. She paid attention not only to every detail I wanted but also ensured that the design was beautifully cohesive with the rest of the home. One of the things we really like about Joan is her compassion for sentimental items. We really wanted to use some old and beautiful images from calendars that had belonged to my parents, and use them as our main family room artwork. Joan helped us select the 8 best and most appropriate images and designed their framing to bring out the beauty of the images. They are such a meaningful and timeless design statement! We love working with Joan. She is attentive to her client’s desires and can help bring your vision into reality and when you just don’t know what you want she has a way about knowing just what you like. She is also fun to work with, positive, easy going, and so very creative. Thank you, Joan, you are the best!

Joan Peters did a great makeover on my condo when she used it for a “ condo redo “ for one of her TV Design segments on KUSI "Good Morning San Diego". All I had was a white sofa and an area rug. In preparing for the segment she took some quick trips through Home Goods and came back with everything from furniture pieces to accessories and transformed my place beautifully! Of course she had spoken to me in depth about the look and feel I wanted in my home. She listened and delivered. I loved everything she did and have kept it all, of course. On top of that, she’s a wonderful artist, doing customized artwork for many of her clients. I have purchased and hung a set of 6 of her seashell paintings above my fireplace. A perfect last touch. She’s a joy to work with!

We hired Joan Peters of Joan Peters Design to design our new home as soon as we purchased it. There was a lot of work to be done, including the tear out and remodel of the kitchen. My husband and I love to do all the reconstruction work ourselves so we were hesitant to bring a designer onboard. What a difference Joan made on our long and drawn out project! First she helped us come up with a masterplan that involved a new footprint for the kitchen. She was involved with every selection detail. On top of that she was able to give us all types of tips that are involved in a project of this scope. She also helped us with the proper order in which to do things. Decisions as small as where to put the electrical outlets and switches were of great importance to her. She impressed upon us how each of these detailed decisions would make a huge difference in the functionality of the final product - our beautiful kitchen. After the messy work was done, she continued with us, working with our timeline over 2 years, in furnishing all the major downstairs rooms. We so enjoyed working with her and are looking forward to starting on the upstairs!

Joan Peters of Joan Peters Design is my sister in law. I am married to her brother and we live in Chicago. Everytime we are doing another design project in our home we hire her and insist on flying her out to help us make all our design decisions. She is fabulous. She has the ability to take both my husband and my individual tastes ( which are sometimes quite different ) and balance them and blend them together to make both of us happy and our home beautiful! Even in minor projects like a bedroom we have worked together long distance via FaceTime and emails and it has turned out wonderfully. There isn’t a room in our home she has not been involved with. On top of that we were some of the first of her clients to hang several pieces of her original artwork throughout our home. Thanks Joan!

I am a general contractor who has a construction business. I have had the opportunity to work on some major remodeling projects with Joan Peters of Joan Peters Design. A couple of them have been major tear downs and overhauls. Joan has great design vision and knows how to communicate it to the clients as well as our firm. She is very detail oriented as we are and it makes us very compatible and the clients very happy. I am able to call her throughout the project with questions and details and she makes herself available for any last minute decisions that need to be made. She’s great to work with.

We found Joan Peters from an advertisement in a magazine when we moved our family of five to San Diego, CA from Alexandria, VA several years ago. We did a major remodel to the beautiful home we found in La Jolla. Joan and her team provided the general contractor and she oversaw the remodel. Joan Peters Design also furnished most of the rooms after the remodel was done, creating a beautiful and livable new home for us. Joan worked very closely with us even though we were still residing in Virginia through most of the selection process. She cared about every detail of our wishes and we loved what she came up with. Since then we have worked with her over the years whenever there was another new project in our same home. We are currently working together again because of a plumbing problem that has caused another partial remodel! After all this time not only is she our go-to designer but we have also become dear friends. We highly recommend her and her team!

We hired Joan Peters of Joan Peters Design to remodel our beach side house. It involved gutting the main walls on the bottom floor to open up the kitchen, add a pantry and reconfigure the living area. The ocean view became a larger part of the design with the use of ceiling beams, tongue and groove wood ceiling and beautiful and functional kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Joan suggested and designed the etched glass "barn" pantry door as well as the functional and showy lighting plan. As we were not in town during most of the construction, Joan worked with the contractor to facilitate the plan. We trusted Joan implicitly to oversee the installation to make sure everything fell into place perfectly. She took care of details, had great ideas and was very easy to work with. Our family is thrilled with our vacation home!

We built our new house last year. We used Joan Peters as our designer. She turned a very large project into our beautiful home. She kept our taste and a budget in mind throughout the entire project. It turned out perfect. Thank you, Joan, for doing a fantastic job.

Joan Peters has been helping us with our homes since 1985 when we bought our first house. Since then she has been involved in the building and original design of our custom home and several remodels since. She has been first and foremost concerned with our home reflecting our tastes and our constantly changing lifestyle as our kids have grown and gone.
