I have been practicing architecture for over 33 years with a focus on custom single family homes in Napa and Sonoma Counties. I have but a handful of experiences where working with the designer was as collaborative and professional as it was working with JL Interior Design. Without hesitation I would recommend Jolene and Lindsey for any residential project where communication, creativity and awareness of budget is important.

Jolene helped me with a rental unit remodel several years ago and she did an amazing job designing and managing the project. So two years ago, we bought a fixer upper and of course we asked her for help again to do the whole house remodeling. Jolene is simply amazing and talented. We can't be happier with the outcome even though it is not completely finished yet. She did a great job picking wall colors, cabinets, floors, tiles and light fixtures that give the house a bright, airy and timeless look. Working with jolene has been a super pleasant experience. She treats our house like hers and takes every little details very seriously and is very considerate of our budget as well. She is always there to answer questions and provide solutions. Jolene and I have worked together now on several projects of varying sizes. Not only is she extremely talented and versatile in terms style, but she's also wonderful to work with. We hired JL Interior Design to help us design a plan to remodel our very dated kitchen, to design (and choose the location for) a new powder room, to choose tile to update our fireplace and to help us furnish our master bedroom, entry way, living room and dining room in a way that would maximize each space. I cannot speak highly enough about Jolene and her team, Courtney. From day 1, Jolene and Courtney demonstrated the highest level of professionalism. They were thoughtful, both with the ideas they brought to me and with the time spent and ultimately billed. They listened to my ideas, reviewed my Pinterest boards and took careful note about what we already had in our home to make sure their design ideas complimented my style, not theirs or the style of past clients. They were incredibly flexible in that they understood our budget and helped us identify where our money would be best spent while also presenting a variety of options and alternatives for pieces when our budget simply would not allow us to splurge. Jolene and Courtney are very knowledgeable. They understand how to work with contractors and sub-contractors, and they also have a basic understanding of the remodel and inspection process from start to finish. This proved to be incredibly helpful, especially since, as first time homeowners, we had never been through a project of this size and didn’t know what to expect at every turn. When we started this project, we did not have any general contractor or other sub-contractor contacts. Jolene is very well connected and was happy to suggest several contractors and sub-contractors she had worked with. She was incredibly transparent about the projects she had done with each and what her experience had been, so we never once felt like she was referring “friends” or had any agenda other than helping us choose who we wanted to work with. Jolene and Courtney are incredibly responsive and always respond timely. They understand that sometimes a quick decision needs to be made (often on the spot) and they always reply accordingly – something I find to be rare! We will use JLID on every project we do in our home going forward, regardless of the size. We could not be happier with their process from start to finish or how our home turned out! It’s a perfect reflection of our vintage, bohemian style. Thank you JLID!!

I found Jolene through a recommendation on the Golden Gate Mother’s Group (GGMG). Initially I wanted help with only a couple of rooms and a small construction project to build a pantry off the kitchen. But as I worked with her and saw some of her suggestions/recommendations the projected quickly changed to helping with two cosmetic bathroom remodels, my living room, dining room, office, entry, powder room and four bedrooms. Jolene was great at listening to what I wanted while helping push me beyond my comfort zone. I initially was hesitant on the wallpaper in the dinning room but now its one of my favorite rooms. She understood my lifestyle (children and a busy lifestyle) and helped me to select fabrics and materials that would endure. She understood that there were some pieces that I wanted to keep and was able to incorporate almost all of those pieces into my finished design. Now when I walk into my home I feel relaxed and happy. My kids love the changes she incorporated as well. Throughout the process hearing their feedback and comments gave me pure delight and reinforced my content with making these changes. As a testament to how much I enjoyed working with Jolene I’m planning to work with her on future projects. I highly recommend her - and I now love how my house looks!

We hope everyone is as lucky as we were to work with Jolene! We first found out about Jolene when visiting my best friend in San Francisco. My friend's house was beautiful and when we asked if she did her house on her own, she started talking about her decorator Jolene, whom she adored and now had become a dear friend. Since we live in Philadelphia, I was very skeptical to hire a designer from across the country; how would we make decisions, purchase items for the house and arrange them appropriately. My wife, however, was convinced that Jolene was the right person; my wife knew that if Jolene did half the job she did for our friend in SF, we would have our dream home. My wife, as always, was right. Jolene gave us a dream home which we could not have imagined ourselves. To make this work, Jolene and my wife worked together as a team. Jolene inspired us, but set clear deadlines/objectives within a fixed budget. When we would go off on tangents, Jolene would refocus us and remind us that certain items would cause us to go over budget. We were able to complete the decoration of a large 6 bedroom house with two visits (initial and final) from Jolene, thousands of emails, and numerous facetime sessions. Aside from producing an amazing product within a fixed budget from across the country there are many additional qualities which make Jolene the right person for your job: 1. Amazing person - Jolene is fun, caring, and thoughtful. Though you are trying to get something done, we felt like we were working with our friend. This made a sometimes stressful task that much easier to deal with. 2. Creative/Inspiring - We dont know where she comes up with her ideas. She is brilliant and will send you random ideas which work well for your house - creativity also helps when you are trying to stay within a budget, regardless of the size of the budget 3. Organized - Working from across the country only works when you have a decorator who can help you plan and stay focused. She was extremely detailed oriented and left no stone unturned. 4. Budget Focused - Sometimes we felt that Jolene was more focused on keeping us on budget that we were. That is highest compliment I can give. Jolene is extremely talented and very easy to work with. She has a great eye, and is very thorough to get you to know your tastes, to ensure she only suggests items you will be most interested in. She's very responsive, timely and punctual to meetings. I have used Jolene's services for two homes, and the rooms she designed are by far my favorite rooms in the houses. We are currently between phases with Jolene (as we did half of the new house this year and half next year), and when Jolene saw the perfect couch for us, she reached out and we ended up buying it, even though we aren't even currently working with her! We have received numerous compliments on the couch. Very thoughtful...she consistently goes above and beyond!

JL Interior Design was a pleasure to work with. Jolene is a consummate professional who understood the aesthetic that my husband and I were going for almost instantly. She brought an inspiration board to one of our first meetings that captured the exact design that I wanted for our new home. It was almost like she was inside of my head... Jolene also understood that we had a budget to work with, so upon her receiving the budget she did her absolute best to stick with the parameters she was given while using existing items in our inventory that we could modify to transform our space. She has a wonderful ability to think outside of the box. Jolene put together a wonderful purchase list of items for our Living Room, bar, bedroom and master bath, while helping us to select paint colors, fixtures, tile, carpet, sofa's and more. She kept in mind that I had two young children and delivered products that were stain resistant with soft edges, while delivering a sophisticated style that I could be proud of. I literally gave her one day of my time to find everything we needed. She made appointments, held our hand at showrooms and helped us to find the perfect products quickly and efficiently. She is detail oriented, smart, dedicated and had a wonderful rapport with our contractor and sub contractors. I have and will continue to refer JL Interior Design to all my friends. I just hope she still has time for me...
