Jerry is a very careful craftsman. Especially noteworthy, also, is the pride he also takes in the quality of his workmen. As an architect, I have commissioned him to build many buildings for us over the past twenty years, and all through these projects we have perfected our learning curves together. All of our buildings enjoy a very high level of care. I just can't think of a better person to work with.

We had a great experience in working with Jerry and his crew, and couldn't be more pleased with the results! They installed custom tilework in our foyer and completely remodeled our mudroom, converting closets and a small laundry into a mudroom with custom cubbies and shelving. Highly recommend!

Working with Jerry and his crew was an absolute pleasure from day one. Our project was small, however very important to us. Jerry was truly invested in helping us design a renovation on our 18th century cabin and bathroom. He was thoughtful in selecting materials that would complement the 200-year-old cabin! We are thrilled with the end results. The crew did a truly magnificent job!! Jerry Jackness completed new home construction for us in July 2022. We engaged Jerry for the design phase and subsequent build project. He carefully prepared a full schedule build quote plus allowances, and answered all of our questions regarding what to expect regarding every phase of the project. Jerry and his team overcame occasional supply chain issues, suggested wonderful details and finishes, and he was not happy until we were happy. Jerry’s obsession with quality and completeness are a rare trait in today’s market. We are now nestled in our new home and thrilled with every aspect. We give Jerry and Craftsman Construction our highest recommendation.

Craftsman Construction has been helping me with various repairs and updates to my home. This year we are replacing all the sliding doors. Mr. Jackness, is prompt and thorough in his work. He measured twice each of the 8 doors, not wanting to miss some slight variation in the design. Additionally, when I had some questions about the product we would be installing, he arranged to have the representative come out to my home and discuss the options, colors, and other concerns that I had. He also measured again, so I am confident that the doors will be just right! Supply chain issues have caused the project to be slower than I had wanted, but Mr. Jackness made sure that he told me that at the start so I do not have unrealistic expectations. I'm looking forward to the finished product! Craftsman Construction's office staff is also very helpful and will call with updates and additional information throughout the process.

My wife and I spent ten years planning our dream house, and fortune could not have shone brighter on us finding Jerry Jackness and Craftsman Construction. We engaged Jerry beginning with initial design, and he transformed our scrapbook of notes and narrative into a beautiful, highly energy-efficient design incorporating leading edge building practices and materials. With the house now well into construction, we have been in awe of his commitment to quality and craftsmanship. No detail has been too small, and Jerry approaches every facet as if he were building his own dream home. He offers his own guidance and vision, but his ultimate goal is always our satisfaction. His crew and contractors reflect his joy in a job well-done. We give Jerry, his wife Fay, and the entire Craftsman team our highest recommendation.

I am planning to sell my home within the next couple of years and wanted to get started on some cosmetic repairs, that included painting the exterior of my home and repairing the deck. Jerry came over and looked at the deck and recommended an innovative and beautiful solution! The deck was repaired in short order and the crew was professional, efficient, and cleaned and removed all the debris in an efficient manner. The painting contractor was also very good and the crew was well managed, efficient, and professional. I am delighted with the color and the job and the house looks great! Everyone who has visited since the jobs were completed this past summer (2021) has commented on how nice everything looks. Jerry and his staff really went above an beyond. I am new to the home repair and updating game and Jerry was very helpful in explaining everything, answered all my questions, and helped me develop priorities for planning the remaining repairs I need to make before selling. Fay, in the office, called to check on progress during the painting and deck revitalization to make sure there were no issues and that I was happy with the work and the progress, Once the work was completed, Jerry came out quickly to inspected the work and ensure that the work site was cleaned up and all trash removed. I will definitely be calling them as I move along with my plans and look forward to working with such an engaged and helpful team.

He brings creativity and experience to every aspect of the project and brings elegant solutions to the unexpected but inevitable challenges that come with custom building. He is all about quality of product and workmanship; he truly is a craftsman. Our home will be done in a few months and Jerry, and his craftsmen, should be as proud of the finished product as we are delighted with it!

Review for Jerry Jackness, Craftsman Construction Jerry was the contractor for our custom home located on the side of a mountain in rural Virginia. There were many unusual aspects to our proposed work: 1.Our construction location was 3 ½ hours away from where we lived, so we needed someone who would keep us informed and whom we could absolutely trust. 2. Construction Challenges: building area was cleared but steepness and septic location were problematic. There was not much space for staging of materials. The access to the house was a very long and steep gravel driveway. 3.We were looking for a contractor who could design/build based on a very specific set of owner drawn plans, which included priorities of aging in place, low energy use/decreased carbon footprint as well as a wood masonry fireplace with specific foundation needs. 4.We were looking for a contractor who would take us to a certain point in construction, then allow us to finish the house (Bill is also a contractor). In many ways, Jerry’s work exceeded our high expectations. He offered clear design ideas that enhanced our vision of the house. He used the program Builder Trend that gave us day-to-day reports on work completed, with photos to document the work (total number of photos eventually exceeded 1000!). He was always available by phone, and always on the job site when subs were working. When problems were encountered (think: ROCK and MUD – 2018 was one of the rainiest on record), he worked through these, with a dose of good humor to carry us through. We totally trusted that the work he did was of the highest quality and was absolutely to code. He took a difficult site, challenging conditions, unique design parameters and created a beautiful, energy efficient house. Thank you Jerry! We would unconditionally recommend that you consider Craftsman Construction for your building needs. The Craftsman Construction website states: “Our obsessive drive for quality and our ‘every detail matters’ attitude makes us an elite contractor for homeowners that have higher expectations.” We certainly found that to be true! Throughout the building of the new facility at Paradise Springs, Craftsman Construction was a pleasure to work with. With such a unique project and building, it took a company that really knew how to piece together so many aspects of our needs to deliver a final product that is both a showpiece and a functional facility for producing our product. With a talented team, no request was too much for them to handle. The project was delivered on time and within budget. Furthermore, the follow up response of the owners in wanting to make sure everything functioned as it was suppose to was phenomenal. Craftsman Construction takes great pride in their work and it showed with our project. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality build. In a time where many contractors are trying to maximize profit, even if it means compromising quality, Craftsman Construction delivers and will not steer you wrong. It was my pleasure to hire Craftsman Construction for structural modifications and repairs to my 250 year old Northern Virginia home in preparation for a metal roof installation. The house had an old, poorly installed cedar shake roof over several additions of varying quality, both factors contributing to significant deterioration of soffit and fascia sections all around the house. Additionally, I wanted two large ill-fitting dormers removed that were not part of the original roof before the new standing seam metal roof was installed. The Craftsman Team took time to understand and adopt my vision and gain an appreciation for the old structure. Their proposal was prompt, complete, and accurately characterized the phased plans we discussed. I was impressed with how the team attacked the work in their site preparation phase by first staging tools and equipment that would be needed. The work then began as scheduled with tremendous progress being made each day, despite the difficult to reach, awkward, high locations of the problem areas. The dormers were removed flawlessly, old timbers and windows preserved, and the roof patched and structurally reinforced. Daily, Jerry would take time to discuss the progress, challenges/discoveries, and next objectives. The site was kept meticulously clean, with all tools and materials secured at the end of each day. The new carpentry was expertly painted, a new window installed, and spray foam insulation applied to the repaired attic spaces. The house was now ready for a new roof and already looked better than it had in many years. I also asked Jerry to provide proposals for several other exterior and interior renovation projects and am looking forward to seeing more of their craftsmanship applied to this old house. I very highly recommend Craftsman Construction for any residential construction project – it will turn out better than you can imagine!

Jerry undertook 3 specific projects for us - a porch enclosure, well house and refitted a garage. He did an excellent job and was a pleasure to work with. He kept to budget and time period. We were highly satisfied.
