ABK Today...if there was a Worst of Houzz rating, you would be the winner. Several sorry folks signed on with you to do their renovations and you have taken their money and left town. All staff has resigned and subcontractors have been left in the lurch. My house has no walls, floors or kitchen and you are nowhere to be found. This place should be reported to the authorities for fraud. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. You may have once had top ratings, but no longer.

We recently Sept/2015 signed a contract and provided down payment to have our Kitchen remodeled after having a good experience with ABK Today during our recent bathroom remodel. 2 weeks after we signed our contract we received a call from our designer Beth Schulz that she had resigned, and if i had questions regarding our project to phone the office. I tried calling her as well as several people at the office with no response. Eventually JD Burkholder - owner, phoned and we discussed what had just happened to his business. He explained he was restructuring, and would in fact be able to deliver on our contract. Then my 2 material selection appointments were cancelled. JD asked to meet with us to demonstrate his ability to deliver and chart our next steps, then did not show up for the appointment. Since then we have not had any communications from him after many phone call and text messages. The main phone number is no longer working. No return communications. I have had communications with others that contracted ABK Today recently and are in progress projects, they have been abandoned. There are so many ways this could have been managed differently. Your current clients are looking for you to be reasonable and figure out how to move forward. You could save what used to be a decent reputation, by being reasonable and taking the appropriate steps

We recently (October/November 2014) had our master bathroom remodeled by Affordable Bathrooms and Kitchens (ABK). We were thrilled at the results – and continue to be ‘wowed’ every time we enter our master bathroom. From the beginning to the end – the folks at ABK made the entire process enjoyable and fun! I know this is hard to believe – but as the bathroom came together I was actually giddy! JD was our initial contact – and he represented the company perfectly. They are a group of energetic and capable folks that truly care about their work and their customers. Our next contact was with Alyssa, one of their designers. I sent a Houzz ideabook to her with what I was looking for in finishes and an overall ‘look’. She reviewed this and created sketches that captured our vision perfectly! Meeting with her to select the materials and finishes for our bathroom was fun. She had pre-selected some items based on our ideabook that enabled us to breeze through the selection process in record time! We were excited for the project to begin – which it did – just when they said it would! Our next contact was Tyler – who led our project – and provided the day-to-day interface with the other team members. Tyler was simply awesome at everything he did! In addition to his other tasks, Tyler tiled our bathroom – so his name really fits – and he did a fabulous job! He was always on time, courteous, and always patient with us when we had any questions. Tyler’s construction skills are amazing – he is a perfectionist with an eye for detail and the ability to execute! The entire crew was so pleasant to work with that we would highly recommend them to anyone considering any work on their home. Alyssa kept in contact throughout the project – making site visits to ensure the project was evolving into exactly what we wanted. Her design took our initial thoughts and transformed our outdated 1950’s bathroom into an elegant, spa-like retreat! Our friends have been blown away by the transformation – it is that dramatic – just like the bathrooms you see in the magazines. The project finished right on time – as promised – and we could not be happier with the result!

I had worked with ABK 3 years ago on my kitchen. It turned out to be a match made in heaven. So, I hired them again to do the master bedroom and bathroom. The design was perfect for us and the work was done in a timely manner and they cleaned up beautifully everyday. The people were great to work with and with an over hundred year house - you can just imagine what things you find behind those walls. The bathroom and bedroom are just exactly what we wanted and even more. The workers were all really nice and they were all very proud of their work as they should be!! We loved them!!

Every day, my husband and I never fail to say to each other, "I love this kitchen!" Our project was pretty extensive, from removing walls, removing an exterior door, installing new door to the garage, enlarging/replacing the kitchen window, and refinishing the floor while at the same time blending in/installing additional new flooring. We had lots of ideas that we wanted incorporated, and they were an impeccable at working with us through each and every thing. It is most definitely the amazing staff that made the entire experience great, from JD Burkholder, to Beth, to Joel. Every step of the way, we were treated with respect and professionalism. JD carefully listened to all of our remodeling needs, and responded quickly whenever we had concerns. Beth's impeccable design sense, and her ability to gently guide while still respecting our desires and requirements, was flawless. And, her knowledge of suppliers and products made the selection process enjoyable. Our foreman Joel is an outstanding craftsman with an innate ability to adjust to our home's little quirks, which happen on any remodeling project. The team at ABK is intelligent, funny, passionate, and, perhaps most importantly, always concerned with the customer's experience. I can't leave out Dylan and Alyssa as essential parts of the team. We had a couple of special requests in our project which I have to mention. We asked ABK to build barn doors out of salvaged wood to cover a large closet near the garage entry. We were hopeful that they would also be willing to build us a kitchen table. Both of our requests were met with enthusiasm and creativity. We were even able to personally select the wood used for both from a reclaimed wood supplier in Lancaster. We could not be happier with the resulting items. Both are stunning focal points in what is a perfectly beautiful, functional, well-designed space. My husband and I highly recommend ABK Today, and plan to use them again when we remodel our master bath in the future. After receiving quotes from several companies, they were reasonably priced as well. But what sold us more than the cost of the project was definitely the personalities of everyone on the team. ABK remodeled our master bathroom. They gutted the whole room and started from scratch. Cliff, the guy who did the job very good and knowledgeable. Only a couple of things to fix at punch list time, but taken care of in timely fashion.

Beth and Alyssa are always a pleasure to work with in our showroom. They are kind, friendly, and fabulous designers! We would definitely recommend ABK Today for any designing needs, whether in a kitchen, bathroom, or other living area.

In the Fall, we started the process to find a company to renovate our kitchen. Since I work with lots of contractors in my job, I am very picky and know what to ask. From the first interaction with JD and Beth, we found a team that was knowledgeable, creative and easy to work with. They took our ideas and drafted a plan we were very happy with. During the implementation phase, a few items had to be re-considered and our foreman, Joel was equally knowledgeable and has a creative flair. Most impressive in ABK's work is in the worst winter on record with snow, ice and power outages, they were still able to complete the job in the 8 weeks allotted with the smallest punch list ever. We highly recommend this professional and impressive company!!

Let me begin at the end – I love, love, love my new kitchen and adjacent areas that were renovated by ABK Today. Here are the things (in no particular order) that I believe set JD Burkholder and ABK Today apart from the throngs of remodeling companies in our area: (1) There were no surprises. The contract price was the price of the project. Every change I requested after the contract was signed was priced fairly and documented in writing. (2) The team leader assigned to my project, Rick Williams, was a joy to work with. He’s incredibly talented and skilled, and every little (and sometimes big) challenge along the way was handled with a “can do” attitude and a better-than-expected outcome. (3) JD and Rick were readily available to answer questions and address concerns, and always returned my phone calls and text messages promptly. (4) Every subcontractor – flooring, granite, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc. – showed up on the days they were expected. They were polite, professional, left the area clean, and did outstanding work. (5) The designers really know their stuff. I worked with both Josephine and Beth. There were a couple of features in my new kitchen that I resisted during the design phase, but in the end I trusted Josephine’s expertise; these are now among the features I appreciate most of all. And Beth has an impeccable eye for color; my cabinets, countertops and wall colors are perfect together. (6) My custom cabinets and fireplace surround and mantel, made by ABK’s Amish cabinetmaker, are BEAUTIFUL; the word I’ve been hearing most often by friends and family seeing the renovation for the first time is “Wow!” (7) The project schedule that is established is a working document, and ABK Today did everything it could to stick to it. Our project got underway just as our awful winter weather arrived. The crews often drove 40+ miles from Lancaster through snowy conditions to be here on their designated days. When we lost power for several days due to winter storms, one contractor arrived with a generator. In every way possible, ABK exceeded our expectations.

We are beyond pleased with our experience with ABK Today. From JD's first visit in our home to assess the project, Beth's flawless eye for design, Guy's scheduling skill and interaction, to Rick's management of the project, we felt confident that the outcome would be nothing less than the high level of excellence they delivered. Always extremely responsive, they listened to our thoughts and concerns and put us at ease. We truly felt a partnership with ABK Today as they shared in making our house a home. They were a joy to work with. They have also been very attentive during the close-out of the project addressing any and all issues we had. Thank you, ABK!

Choosing ABK for my kitchen remodel was the best decision. From the first meeting with JD I knew they were going to be a pleasure to work with. I always felt important and my questions were addressed promptly and courteously. Beth the designer was wonderful to work with and she helped me think through the best plan for my kitchen from selecting all the fixtures, tiles, granite etc. Rick our foreman for our remodel was GREAT! He always took the time to talk me through each step and what was happening that day. I loved the day by day schedule I received before the start of construction so I knew what to expect each day including the names of each person working that day. They finished on time and I never felt inconvenienced. The workmanship in the cabinets was impeccable! Everything was done to the highest standards and the best materials were used. Everyone went above and beyond what was asked of them and I would HIGHLY recommend ABK for a kitchen remodel. Based on what I experienced I would use them if I were doing a bathroom remodel as well. Five stars all around!

We had a first floor renovation that included Kitchen, Laundry Room complete renovation. In addition, we had renovations done to almost the every other room on the first floor of our home. ABK did a fine job on design and product selection. Workers were organized and respectful of the fact that we were living in the home during the 3 months of work. The end result was an A- experience. We would consider working with them again when our bathroom gets a complete overhaul.
