浄法寺の漆は国産漆の「最後の砦」と言っても過言ではありません。 国内で使われている漆の約98％は中国産漆で、国産はわずか2％。 縄文時代早期（約9,000年前）からの長い歴史を持つ日本の漆の伝統は、 残念なことに「風前の灯」となっています。 それは、自然由来の優れた資源である漆の魅力が忘れ去られ、知られていないことも一因です。 漆の伝統を後世に継いでいくためには、漆掻き職人が集団として残っている今こそ、対策を講じなければなりません。 こんなに魅力的な素材を失ってはならないと漆文化の継承と革新、そして漆産業の振興を願い、起業しました。 岩手という豊かなフィールドで、漆というクリエイティブな素材に出会えたことを感謝します。 Urushi has not only been used as a protective and decorative coating and finishing material, but also as an adhesive. Tracing its origins to the Neolithic Period, the traditions of the Japanese culture of urushi continue today. An example of this application of traditional skills is the Maki-e style of decorative urushi ware. During Japan’s feudal era, urushi was used for samurai furnishings, in shrines and temples, and as a coating for armor. In the 16th century, the word urushi came to refer to urushi ware or the application of decorative urushi. Europeans were fascinated with the beautiful embedded gold and mother-of-pearl designs and deep red or black luster of Japanese urushi.
