We have been through a number of home renovations through the years, but none have been as successful as the extensive remodeling and combining of two Fifth Avenue condos that we did with Edward Ira Schachner. Ira combines a sense of beauty, creativity, innovation, practicality and impeccable taste. His professionalism and experience is unparalleled. Years later, his work stands the test of time. We cannot think of a single choice he made that we have questioned. Most importantly, Ira was a pleasure to work with. His meticulous attention to detail and cost considerations and his careful supervision of all aspects of the project which was completed on time and on budget made for an unbelievably pleasant experience. Ira did two major apartment renovations for us. The first was for a brand new condo (modern design), the second was a complete gut of a west side co-op (more traditional design). He did an outstanding job on both projects. Exceptionally creative, listens to the clients needs, works well with contractors and interior designers. Extremely meticulous. We love the way both projects turned out. Highly recommended.

Houzz Review, Ira Schachner, Manhattan gut renovation of duplex Ira was our architect and designer for a gut renovation and combination of 2 apartments to create a duplex on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. He had to combine 2 separate apartments with 2 existing kitchens and create an integrated home on 2 floors with a newly created staircase and whole new layout. The staircase with a beautiful large casement window is one of the more impressive features of the apartment and required special local community board approval, which Ira spearheaded and secured. His architectural design work was brilliant. We also used him as an interior decorator and designer, which was a real plus because it did not require another person and the potential associated delays and conflicts. The resulting project was all Ira’s vision-- and it is spectacular… His love of architecture and design is evident from his enthusiasm from the start of the job and drawing up the plans to the final finishing details. He is a perfectionist and every detail was attended to. The project totaling approximately 2200 sq ft. amazingly only took 4 months from demolition to move in. Ira worked very smoothly with the general contractor. I have strongly recommended Ira for other architectural and design work. --Wendy

Ira has worked with me over the past ten+ years doing my entire apartment and two different beach houses as well as a recent renovation of my kitchen. He is extremely user friendly, has great style and ideas and being both a designer and an architect, has the ability to really think through whether design elements will work in a particular space. He is also so much fun to spend time with...we have done many shopping trips together - from visits to the D&D building to stone yards in the outer boroughs of NYC - and it is like hanging out with a friend. I am a huge fan and both of my homes always elicit compliments from people when entering them!

We could not have been more pleased with the process and outcome that resulted from working with Ira. We purchased a two bedroom condo in the lower east side that was tired and in need of some major upgrades, and with Ira's help we were able to completely renovate the apartment with an expanded and modernized kitchen, an enlarged and upgraded bathroom, and the creation of more work space where the second bedroom was previously located (both my fiancée and I work from home quite often). On top of this, Ira helped us solve an issue of limited closet space in our previous apartment by designing an amazing walk-in closet which is extremely hard to find in our neighborhood. Every detail was addressed and my fiancée and I were kept aware of all major items throughout the planning and implementation stages of our apartment renovation. It's safe to say if we ever undertake a project similar to this in the future Ira will be our first call!

Ira planned and oversaw the renovation and expansion of our kitchen. In addition, he helped us to decorate our apartment. In all respects, he was a pleasure to deal with. We were delighted with the end result and have received many compliments on the way that our apartment looks.
