Anna and her team are brilliant to work with. They take the time to understand a project in detail and the wider context it sits within. I've worked with Intervention Architecture on both personal and organisational projects and have found them to always be professional, friendly and accommodating, whilst introducing us to an amazing local supply chain. We hugely enjoyed working with Intervention Architecture in commissioning the Common Wealth Table as a centrepiece of the Birmingham Cathedral's response to Birmingham 22. We would strongly recommend them.

We're a publicly funded arts agency Arts&Heritage who worked with Intervention Architecture on a commission for Birmingham Cathedral's public grounds. The resulting art work - The Common Wealth Table - a series of interlinked sculptural wooden tables with awnings and space to grow herbs - was the perfect design solution that encouraged dwell time and sharing of meals & social encounters in the cathedral grounds. There was incredible attention to detail in terms of form, style, materials and at the end we were able to distribute the individual units to arts and community groups. The future life span and afterlife of the The Common Wealth Table had been carefully considered as well as minimising the environmental impact of the materials used. The project was delivered within the tight budget on time and Intervention Architecture were a pleasure to work with.

We recently co-created a playful pavilion with Intervention Architecture. It was a fun and joyous project where we collaboratively combined our skills to design and fabricate a pavilio, furniture and artefacts for the client. They led the community engagement for this project and organised workshops with local school children. They translated their ideas creatively into the design of the pavilion which included identifying a range of sensory materials. We would highly recommend the team at Intervention Architecture for your future projects as we observed their creativity and imaginative design thinking, they actively put the local community at the heart of the project and demonstrated a range of expertise to technically realise a freestanding pavilion.

We thoroughly enjoyed working with IA on our building project. From the very start they were organised and communicated efficiently. They created a beautiful design for our project that was sympathetic to the properties original features. They showed meticulous attention to detail throughout the design process and were always available to support with decision making. We’d highly recommend IA to anyone looking to undertake building work.

We contacted Anna in April 2017 as we had two young children and needed more space. We are self employed and work from home, which was another important consideration. We spoke to three architects about the project and Anna was head and shoulders above the other two. She listened to what we wanted and needed, went away and drew up two possible scenarios. Both of her plans exceeded our needs and they also excited us as she puts her own slant on the project. When she presented her plans we were blown away, she had really understood what we wanted and needed. The designs were practical and individual, rather than feeling like our extension was an 'off the shelf' box. The extension that Anna designed has changed our lives. We have a large family, living, kitchen area that is perfect for our lifestyle. She created additional storage areas, that we desperately needed, in areas that we didn't realise existed. Anna did an unbelievable job for us that we will be forever thankful for and she was also a lovely lady to deal with.

I collaborated with Anna and the team at Intervention Architecture for an exhibition at Recent Activity in May 2019. The team were a pleasure to work with and showed real dedication in developing a project that went beyond both our own expectations. I cannot recommend them enough!

We first met with Anna to discuss a kitchen extension in 2016 after uninspiring meetings with other architects. She listened carefully to what we thought we wanted and came up with ideas which reflected our ideas but which were also creative and original. Her style was collaborative throughout and the final design was bold and different but also functional and a great use of new and existing space. We really liked how extensive her service was including running the tenders with builders, providing detailed drawings and a 3D model, and detailed advice on fittings and colours etc. She managed the builders well through a long build and came up with practical solutions to problems. Overall, we are delighted with the extension and thoroughly enjoyed working with Anna.

We approached Anna in the spring of 2017 having never used an architect before. We’d been impressed by her local work and were keen to support a young, Birmingham-based practice. Given our jobs, we also were sold on having someone who would project manage throughout the build. Our job was to reconfigure the ground floor to the rear of our 1930’s semi, improving outdoor space and remodel the main family bathroom and add an en suite. We gave Intervention licence to use their imagination but were keen to make the most of the view of the garden. The first stages were working around Anna’s vision and proposals. We were impressed with the visual representations provided and the willingness shown by Intervention to tweak the designs based on our feedback and budgetary considerations. Anna came up with the idea of changing an ugly 1980s side return that poked out at the back of the property into a new garden room. This was an inspired decision and we would never have thought of it. Meanwhile the existing kitchen and dining room would be opened up to create a large kitchen/living space. This would involve the removal of a load bearing wall. Once finalised, Intervention’s experience in formulating building specifications and contacts with suppliers, structural engineers and local builders was invaluable. We would have struggled without them. The build was put out to tender in late November 2017 with the building contractor, Wow Developments confirmed a few weeks later. Intervention had worked with Wow previously which was a bonus. The work eventually started in mid July 2018. Living on a build is always a challenge but Intervention were reassuring throughout. There was regular dialogue around the confirmation of finishes and site visits happened on a regular basis. We actually found during the build that we were having to make a number of decisions with the builder and this can create some tensions given budgets can very easily escalate. On reflection, it simply takes time to find the right dynamic between the various parties involved and although there is inevitable stress you do find a way through it. No build isn’t without challenge and there were some protracted delays because of the main glazing supplier but anyone who’s watched an episode of Grand Designs will know this is often to be expected. The build largely concluded in April 2019 and we are so happy with the way the project has turned out. It has transformed a tired property, fulfilled the vision we had when we moved into the house and convinced us that using Intervention was the right thing to do. We’d definitely recommend them.

I worked with Anna and her team at Intervention on my first bar and tasting room in Birmingham that we completed in Jan 2018. Anna is a very creative person and came up with some fantastic ideas to realise my vision for the space. She really understood the environment I was trying to achieve for my customers and it was really wonderful to see the space take shape under her guidance from the initial plans submitted. She is also very easy to get on with, has a relaxed approached and always comes across as genuinely excited about the project. Her team reflected these values as well. I'd recommend and work with her again for future projects.

Anna Parker and her team did a wonderful job - Anna listened carefully and responded thoughtfully and imaginatively. She worked hard to keep it within budget, and the build - which was over three floors - was carefully done and beautifully finished. My little house, which had been cold, dark and slightly dishevelled, is now very beautiful. For me, it's the perfect house. Highly recommended.

I approached Intervention Architecture to develop a modular display structure that would enable me to deliver art and science workshops from a variety of different venues. The budget and design requirements changed throughout what became a long design phase but Anna and the team were incredibly patient and professional, exuding enthusiasm and a can do attitude, whatever I threw at them! I am delighted with the end result and have since used the display at various events. It has even received an RHS silver award for educational display at the International Orchid Fair in Malvern 2019.
