Julie is the best! We used her services in 2007 on our first home renovation and again in 2016 on our second. Julie is professional; knowledgeable; talented; organized; a great listener and communicator; creative and observant with an excellent eye for detail in color/style/ambiance/quality in material/quality of work done by subcontractors; focused on follow through and deadline oriented; respectful of budgets; engaging and supportive of our ideas; creative in combining existing furnishings with new ideas; and very important to us: personable, gracious, patient, calm and positive in problem solving while finding quick and doable solutions relieving us of stress. Because of Julie's assistance, we were able to self-contract our 2016 renovation resulting in huge savings to us.

Working with The Inside Story Design professionals has been a delight! The lead designer is professional, attentive, responsive and a "saving grace". She has responded promptly to answer any questions we had or to address any issue which came up. She has been great at learning our style preferences and at finding things within our preferences. She has been very good at making recommendations which balance good design with value. She has a wealth of knowledge of resources and is willing to research and make contacts until you are satisfiedwith the products. Her design knowledge and recommendations have been right on target. I have especially appreciated the fact that she also has a wealth of knowledge of craftsmen and supervises their work if you'd like. This fact has saved us a lot of headache and worry. We look forward to working with The Inside Story Design firm again on future projects.

We are just wrapping up an extensive remodel of our bedroom wing, involving totally gutting and reworking two bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. Julie was with us every step of the way with great design ideas, excellent knowledge of how materials would work together, and a wonderful rapport with the crew. Julie met with us frequently, was always available on the phone, and kept very detailed organized notes of all the design details. She carefully reviewed all materials we ordered for quality, and made sure they all came in on time. She truly listened to and addressed all our concerns, and we are thrilled with the result. She also is just a fun, down to earth person to be around. She now feels like a member of the family to us, and we will definitely call on her for our next project!

I am a Custom Home Builder who had the privilege to work with Julie Risman of The Inside Story Design on on beautiful custom home this past year. Julie was such a pleasure to work with, her insightful knowledge was invaluable and tremendously appreciated. He ability to listen to our vision, understand our since of style and combine this to change our condo into our home, is something we will forever appreciate. Julie Risman and her team from the Inside Story Design help my husband and me sort through years of accumulated "stuff" in an effort to downsize, simplify yet retain those items truly meaningful. Julie offered a fresh (and neutral) perspective to "tell the blended story of our lives" through the way in which she helped us display pictures, cluster family collectibles, and our children's pictures, art, etc. She also has an excellent eye for color....and helped us pull our family "theme" through fabric choices, and small details -like kitchen knobs, etc. This business is not just about "interior" decorating - the process (if you're willing) will help you have a home that showcases your very own, special story.

This was the first remodel for me and my husband on our 20+ year old house. We remodeled the kitchen. I appreciated the professionalism Julie Risman exhibited throughout the project time. She had wonderful ideas. There was a 1-3 ideas she had I didn't agree to because of the cost. She was willing and able to provide comparable alternatives that were less costly and just as nice. I appreciated her timeliness, availability and most of all her wonderful creativity. The group of contractors she provided for the work were wonderful to work with as well. I would definitely recommend her to anyone. Thank you.

San Antonio Murals

Julie is a phenomenal designer. She goes to great lengths to understand what her clients want, and goes above and beyond in providing whatever they need to create a beautiful, well-designed, functional home. Her dedication and taste are both fabulous. I've recommended her many times!!
