Gardner Outdoor & Pool Remodeling

I hired Dave Cole and the Gardner crew to repair and re-plaster my 25-year-old pool. Since I don't even live in California and wouldn't be around to see the work getting done, I had to rely on a strong recommendation from my realtor. Dave walked me through options, provided a thorough report on what needed to be done and sent photos to help me understand the scope of work. Dave's straight talk and follow through we're very much appreciated. Commissioning such a large project from so far away was unsettling but Dave made me feel confident the work would be done the right way. From what my realtor and pool guy tell me, the pool looks terrific.

Prior to renovating our pool and yard in La Quinta, Donna and I researched many pool specialists. We picked Dave Cole of Gardner and we are glad we did as he was the most knowledgeable and professional. Dave was on top of all phases from demolishing to finished product. Our completion was on time and the pool and back yard is beautiful. We give a strong recommendation to Gardner.

Gardner brought a 40 year old Anthony pool back to life, but not without some issues. They need to get a handle on quality control. Several copings we're loose, and needed to be re-attached. Rather than removing the old mortar first they just added new mortar, and set the copings making them sit higher than original copings. Out of 17 copings 13 came loose again within 6 months. Gardner was good at getting someone out to repair immediately. Unfortunately it was the same worker who did the job the first time. Less than a year later they came loose again. I asked Gardner to have someone else come out, and they did so promptly. Unfortunately I was advised that they do not remove old mortar, just the stuff they could scrape off. Now I have high spots all around my pool. In regards to my Pebble Sheen plaster I had 2 issues. 1. The guys who came out to sand & polish didn't spend much time making sure it was smooth. After they left I examined the pool, and found several rough areas. 2. I found holes on the pool floor from the plasterers spikes. I called Gardner, and was told we had to fill the pool right away to keep it from popping, but they would have a diver come out to address our concerns. The diver patched the holes, and tried to sand the rough areas, but said we would have to wait until we drained the pool again so guys with sanders could take care of the walls, and fix a blemish on the floor. Now with a water shortage I don't dare even think of draining the pool. So for now my grandchildren will just have to keep wearing swim shoes, and stay away from the walls.
